MitP Update

Let’s take a look at some various things going on through-out the Disneyland Resort from this week’s Monday in the Parks on MiceAge:

Apparently the Hot Dog Hut is now open (even though it’s still behind walls in this picture)

A look at the new Create Your Own Ear Hat (Mickey Ears) station at the Gag Factory in Mickey’s Toontown

Donald’s Boat is closed for a month long refurbishment

Also of note in this article, is a look at some of Southern California’s newest attractions & events, including the Summer of Hidden Mysteries, & Pony Express at Knott’s Berry Farm.

And Darkbeer gave a link to an OC Register interview with Joey Michaels, one of the Imagineers who worked on the Summer of Hidden Mysteries.

Podcast Episode 44 Now Available

Join Tom Corless and a cast including John Corigliano, Justin Heyman, and Luke Manning in here somewhere, for a show that Bridges the Gaps Between You and the World. Sit back, relax, and enjoy all of the Walt Disney World information and fun we have to offer on this manic edition of WDWNT.

To kick off episode 44, John Corigliano introduces a brand new segment, Your Ear to the World, which will be a bi-weekly segment with John’s lovely binaural audio from Walt Disney World. The perfect attraction to start this segment off, is the new Toy Story Midway Mania! Don’t forget to put on your headphones!

Our Walt Disney World history segment, Back To The Future, returns this week, as we talk about the history of Soundstages 2 and 3, Who Wants to be a Millionaire – Play It, and Hollywood Studio’s newest attraction, Toy Story Midway Mania!

Mural Wars!

The next article dealing with the New Tomorrowland of 1998 is going to be about the mural on the American Space Experience/Rocket Rods queue building. Let’s get to it:

Here’s the original mural that called this building home, one of the lovely works of Mary Blair

A look at the removal of the Mary Blair mural

And this is the 1998 mural, which surprisingly or not is my favorite!

The inscription bellow the mural reads: “BEYOND THE GREATEST STAR OF ALL LIES OUR FUTURE”

In preparation for Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters in 2005, the mural was once again changed

I advise everyone to check out Yesterland‘s articles on both the 1998 Tomorrowland Mural, & the Mary Blair Murals. We won’t have an article on the New Tomorrowland tomorrow, but we will have this week’s podcast with tons of audio from the re-do. We’ll be back on Memorial Day with a look at Honey, I Shrunk the Audience!

Celebrating 40 Years of Nasa (or something like that)!

The next article dealing with the New Tomorrowland of 1998 is going to be about the American Space Experience. Again, this article will be a pictorial article, as Yesterland has a wonderful article up dealing with the history of this exhibit!

There’s not much to be said or shown about the American Space Experience, but there still are a few pictures to share! Let’s get to it:

The exhibit’s marque

A look at a few of the exhibits in the “experience”

The American Space Experience is now the Fastpass Distribution area for Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters

And surprisingly or not, that’s all for this pictorial! Tomorrow, a look at the 1998 mural that was above the entrance to the American Space Experience!

Dateline Disneyland Picture Update

Let’s take a look at some various things going on through-out the Disneyland Resort from this week’s Dateline Disneyland on MiceAge:

The Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage exit waterfall rock-work is almost finished

Inside Innoventions, the VMK arcade games have been switched over to Pirates of the Caribbean Online & Disney’s ToonTown Online

A new sign has been put up at the entrance to the Golden Vine Winery, that is the same, minus Seasons of the Vine

For some unknown reason, a light or projector has been placed atop Don Tomas’, & is directed towards the Toy Story Midway Mania marquee

The Disneyland: Then, Now, & Forever book has been updated with a new cover, & a page for both the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage & Toy Story Midway Mania

The American Idol Experience

The official web-page for the new American Idol Experience, opening January 2009 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has been put up. More artist concepts, videos (including newly crowned American Idol, David Cook, singing “When You Wish Upon a Star”), & information on the audition process for the attraction, are on the site.
