With all of the changes coming to the Magic Kingdom in the coming months and years, it was only a matter of time before the recorded spiels on the Walt Disney World Railroad had to be changed. Well, they were changed on Thursday. There is a new voice and narration on the trains for the first time since the opening of Toontown Fair in 1996. The new spiels include the addition of Jack Sparrow to Pirates of the Caribbean (Just to give you an idea how long it has been since this has been changed) and mentions of all the new attractions coming as part of the Fantasyland Forest Expansion. The spiels also include Mickey’s Toontown Fair despite it closing in February, so expect to see the narration change frequently. A visit to Walt Disney World is always the best way to ring in the New Year, and this year it is certainly no different. The parks are pulling out all the stops as far as live entertainment, so even if you’re stuck in a giant crowd of people, you can fill your day with something other than long attraction wait times. Here’s the line-up:

More news for today. This Captain Donald set we have seen before, but now we know that it is designed by Lisa Badeen and comes along with a a special Vinylmation Jr (those things are everywhere!) The bronze one depicts the statue you will see when you first enter the ship, and the other is that same design, just colorful. I think this set is amazing and I am looking for some way to get it. For those already booked on the cruise, congrats! (You lucky ducks…)
Also available will be a 9″ in the style similar to the previous two 9″ cruise pieces from Park 3. Dan Howard created the Magic and Wonder figures and created this new one too. The only real change is the emblem on the head. Check it out:

An intense, 16-month construction project designed to transform the Disney California Adventure entryway from a nondescript strip mall into a circa-1920s Los Angeles streetscape will begin in earnest Jan. 4.
As part of an ongoing, $1.1 billion makeover, the sweeping and extensive reimagineering will wall off 4 acres of the main entrance between the C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters, Sunshine Plaza, Grizzly Peak and Hollywood Studios Backlot. The remade entryway, dubbed Buena Vista Street, will be designed to evoke the era when a young Walt Disney first arrived in Los Angeles.
After the winter holiday season ends, construction walls will go up around the iconic C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters Jan. 4 so that crews can turn the plaza area into Streamline Moderne turnstiles modeled after the former Pan-Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles.
As we noted a couple days ago, Disney posted the upcoming Villains set in the “Vault” page of the official Vinylmation website under the section for Disney Store Exclusives. This prompted the question; “Are these figures currently available in the stores since only released sets go onto the “Vault” page?” I sent a message over to Steven Miller at Disney who is one of the people responsible for Vinylmation and Trading at Disney and he said they are still determining a release date, but the set will “most likely” be released in Japan first, and then will appear “later in January” in the U.S.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not planing a trip to Tokyo Disney in 2011, so since we have to wait a bit longer, here are some 360 images of the Villains.
