Robert Ashburn’s 3/30/11 Magic Kingdom Photo Report

WDWNT Reporter Robert Ashburn visited the Magic Kingdom yesterday to attend the soft-opening of Town Square Theater, but believe it or not, there is other stuff going on at the park! Who would have though? Anyway, here are some other newsworthy photos from the Magic Kingdom

The covers for “The Magic, The Memories, and You!” projectors still look out of place…

ZoMG: Park 6 from Zoe

Hello everyone! Park 6 is coming out tomorrow and I’m sure that everyone is just as excited as I am! Since seeing photos of Park 6 figures, we noticed that Disney decided to go with a bit of a Disney World theme, as well as Paris and Disneyland. Being from California and also always making (at least) one trip a year to Disney World since I was 5 years old, gives me a little background on both the Disneyland side as well as the Disney World side to Park 6!

Norway Troll

Artist: Casey Jones

The Norway troll is located in Disney World’s Epcot World Showcase in Norway! I think it’s great that they made a 3” version of this figure that stands extremely tall in Norway in Epcot. Everyone always stops to take photos with the troll and it is definitely the landmark in Norway at Epcot. Sadly at Disneyland we don’t have any Trolls but, hopefully everyone will one day make a trip to Epcot and see him for themselves!

Hollywood Studios Clapboard

Artist: Caley Hicks

I love the Hollywood Studios Clapboard! Hollywood Studios is located in Disneyworld but here in California we do have California Adventure. In California Adventure we have, ‘Hollywood Pictures Backlot’ which is a little similar in the name to Hollywood Studios. The back shows different sayings like, Lights, Camera Action, which goes along with DCA’s Hollywood Pictures Backlot as well as Hollywood Studios.

Walt Disney World Road Sign

Artist: Thomas Scott

Here comes a variant! The Walt Disney World Road Sign is a great figure! Always making trips to Disney World, this reminds me of sitting on the buses and going from one park to another. I love this figures and think that the variants work perfectly! The original figure says, “Magic Kingdom and Epcot” the 2 variants say, “Animal Kingdom” and “Theme Parks and all other guest areas”. Here at Disneyland we do have signs that point guests in the right direction, but none as memorable as the ones from Disney World.

Wet Paint Donald
Artist: Mark Seppela

Another variant! Everyone loves when they place a classic Disney character into the set, and Wet Paint Donald is no exception. Wet Paint Donald was found all over Disney World and Disneyland Park when painting was being done. It is a fun and familiar sign to guests and everyone will love this Vinyl! Donald comes in 2 variant colors, purple and orange.

Monstro

Artist: Eric Caszatt

Monstro is from the Storybook Land Canals in Disneyland. This is a great figure because Storybook Canals is such a memorable ride, especially the entrance through Monstros mouth! This is a landmark in Fantasyland and everyone will know exactly where he is from within the park!

Space Mountain Paris

Artist: Lin Shih

Disneyland Paris is incredible! This figure really shows how intricate and fun Disneyland Paris’ Space Mountain attraction is! Disneyland’s Space Mountain is not as colorful and fun as this figure, but has a white outside and more of a blue color scheme inside. This figure is fun because it will go along with Park 4’s Tomorrow Land figure!

Orange Monorail

Artist: Dan Howard

Everyone loves the Monorail! This is the next figure to come out as a Monorail except this time in Orange. Monorails are found in Disneyland as well as Disney World and help guests get to and from certain areas.

DCL Lifeboat

Artist: Randy Nobel

This figure has nothing to do with Disneyland or Disney World but has to do with the cruise line. This figure is modeled after a raft that is used on board. This is a fun addition to Park 4’s Cruise Line figure!

Sonny Eclipse
Artist: Maria Clapsis

Going to Disney World as a little girl I always remember going to Cosmic Rays Starlight Café with my Mom and Grandparents. I love that they made this figure it looks exactly like him! Some people who have not visited Disney World may not understand who or what he is but once they eat at Cosmic Rays they will love him.

Adventureland Tiki

Artist: Casey Jones

This Tiki is a great Adventureland landmark! From any Disney Park, everyone will recognize this guy! In Disneyland we have these guys near the Dole Whip stand.

Primeval Whirl

Artist: Thomas Scott

This is such a wonderful take on the Animal Kingdom attraction! We don’t have a Primevil Whirl here at Disneyland but if you have visited Animal Kingdom you will recognize the design immediately.

Mystery Chaser

I don’t want to spoil the chaser but this guy has showed up in many Disney Parks and I’m sure his face is somewhere in your wallet!

Runaway Brain Mickey

Park 6 Combo Topper

Great addition to the Mickey combo toppers! A bit scary but, still Mickey!

Hope everyone enjoys Park 6 tomorrow!

Video Walkthrough of Town Square Theater

WDWNT Reporter Banks Lee visited Town Square Theater at the Magic Kingdom during it’s soft opening on March 30th and has a video walkthrough of the experience in both the Mickey and Princess meet and greets:

Kali Kali Oxen Free- New Animal Kingdom Vinylmation

Also released today is the Kali River Rapids figure. This ride is from Animal Kingdom, which makes sense because it was a reward for reaching 9,800 followers on the Vinylmation Facebook. (1998 is the year Animal Kingdom opened). Originally the name for this ride was Tiger Rapids Run, which makes a lot of sense since this figure has a very tiger-y feel to it. (Hopefully no tiger blood though!) If this vinylmation keeps form with the other WDW figures we have learned about, it will be part of a park set in the future.

What Future Vinylmation Flags Would You Like to See?

Here at DV, we like to read things into Disney’s words. Hey, it’s fun to speculate. Well today, the Disney Store posted a short Q & A with Disney’s Vinylmation Product Developer Donald Ferro. The post points to more Flags to come! The first series of Vinylmation Flags was a 12 figure set consisting of all the countries in the EPCOT World Showcase plus Brazil.

Ya, they say “may”, but its fun to talk about. So what countries would you like to see in the next round of Vinylmation Flags? How about if they do states?

Town Square Theater Soft-Opens to Guests!

Town Square Theater on Main Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom held some soft openings yesterday to welcome the very first guests to the new homes of Mickey Mouse and the Disney Princesses. We have a ton of photos from WDWNT Reporters Robert Ashburn and Taylor Martina to share with you. Keep in mind that they both made several trips through the lines at the new location, so these photos are presented in the order they were taken. Basically, you will see that we go in circles from entrance, to meet and greet, to entrance over and over again. We would have attempted to sort all of these photos together in order, but we really wanted to get this information out to you as soon as possible. Without any further ado, here is an in-depth look at Town Square Theater:

Stormtrooper of the Week #09

This week’s caption will be chosen by your birth date. If you were born before 1992, check out the left side. If you were born after 1992, maybe the right side is more up your alley. Whichever you pick, Enjoy!

Thousand Evilos Woods

Evilos (the maker of the Mickey in Carbonite figure) is back with a custom set of Pooh and his friends. I really like the gold color of Pooh and the writing of his name on the shirt is wonderful! Also amazing is the mohawk for Eeyore. I’ve always identified with Eeyore for some reason. Check out this set at his site evilos.com. Also check out all his other customs, like the aforementioned Mickey in Carbonite and his cool take on TRON. (Also note the Evil Pooh in the background. I believe this is his trademark, making character’s evil, and where he gets his name.) Right now you can pick up Pooh for $50 and Eeyore is $80. No word on Tigger as of yet. Thanks Evilos, your customs really raise the bar for everyone else!

Now Departing: More Star Tours Destination Hinting

From Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald on the Disney Parks Blog:

Recently, we talked about the characters you’ll meet in Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. Since then, there’s been a lot of speculation about where we’ll meet those characters. Well, stay tuned. While the Star Tours Company does fly to many destinations (as you can see in the attached image – especially if you read Aurebesh) we’ll soon give you the flight list for our show!

UPDATE: Our good friend Scott Smith actually deciphered the above message, here is the full translation:

Tatooine, flight 712, time 0745, statues: gate change
Coruscant, flight 1138, time 0910, status: on time
Tatooine, flight 324, time 1045, status: on time
Endor, flight 611, time 1100, status: delayed
Coruscant, flight 208, time 1245, status: on time
Tatooine, flight 410, time 1310, status: on time
Alderaan, flight 716, time 1315, status: see agent
Coruscant, flight 1010, time 1415, status: on time
Alderaan, flight 1112, time 1645, status: see agent
Endor, flight 903, time 1945, status: delayed

Other than some inside jokes with Endor flights delayed and Alderaan passengers being told to see agent, there isn’t anything new about the attraction revealed. While Disney has not released the list of destinations for the new attraction, we do have some speculation and clues as to what they might be. As usual, stay tuned for more information on Star Tours: The Adventures Continue as it becomes available.
