D23 Vinylmation Preview: Florida Project

I can’t wait for the Florida Project! September 9-11 at EPCOT. We already knew all the figures for purchase, but we got a peek at the ‘gift’ given to people who registered for the Vinylmation day:

It’s a Minnie Mouse. I don’t know about you, but this figure doesn’t do much for me. Its kind of plain. I like the bow, but a generally ugly piece. Your thoughts?

The Orange Bird is a different story. I know we already have one (the AP Exclusive), but this one has a different facial expression and a Mickey Ear Hat! This guy will be only available through trading with Cast Members at the Florida Project.

Here is a look at the 3″ available. Dumbo will be sold with a 9″ Mickey and Pooh will be sold solo.

On the right, is the 9″ Mickey that is packaged with the 3″ Dumbo. On the left is the 9″ Empress Lily. Check out our Florida Project Explained page for more info.

Tweedle Dee. Great job at capturing this guy as he fits perfectly onto the vinyl. You can even see part of the flag in his ear. But what would Dee be without…

Spotlight on: Evilos’ Wonderland Diorama

In honor of the rumor of Alice at D23, here’s another look at Evilos’ wonderful Wonderland Diorama. The detail is amazing, and I really like the 3 dimensional improvement to Alice. He smock looks so good.
This Cheshire Cat is amazing!

The Ultimate Expo Coverage Site: D23 Expo Central

With the inaugural expo in 2009, Disney’s D23 Expo was established as the premier event for Disney fans, and is even called “The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.”  For the 2011 D23 Expo, being held August 19th through 21st at the Anaheim Convention Center, WDWNT is bringing coverage of the event to all new heights.

For those that can’t make the trip to California, WDWNT is pleased to announce the release of the D23 Expo Central site.  This site will be the portal for all of WDWNT’s planned coverage of the expo.  The website will have an impressive collection of features such as live video streaming via Justin.tv, real-time Twitter feeds from WDWNT, DLNT, and many others, live media updates (photos, videos, and audio), a top-of-the-page news ticker highlighting the biggest announcements, Facebook, Google+ , and Twitter integration, and mobile support for Android, iPhone, and iPad devices.  All these features will be used to provide Disney fans not at the convention center the most engaging coverage possible.

If you can’t attend the D23 Expo, then do the next best thing, and visit WDWNT’s D23 Expo Central.

Jolly Holly Bakery Cafe’ Coming To Main Street

From Erin Glover on the Disney Parks Blog:

Tomorrow marks the start of very exciting expansion projects on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland park. We’re getting ready to welcome a new bakery and looking forward to expanded space in some of our existing eateries.

The Plaza Pavilion at Disneyland Park

The expansion kicks off with the all-new Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. The bakery will be located on the current site of the Plaza Pavilion, which recently hosted the Annual Passport Processing Center. The new location will feature an expanded menu, as well as outdoor seating. When Jolly Holiday Bakery Café opens in January 2012, the Blue Ribbon Bakery will close to make way for the next step in the Main Street, U.S.A., project.

We’re also excited to announce that, for the first time in decades, Carnation Café will once again offer indoor seating to Disneyland park guests, increasing the total number of seats and giving guests more options for experiencing this iconic restaurant year-round. Carnation Café will close for this refurbishment at the beginning of 2012 and re-open in the summer.

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and the Candy Palace display kitchen will also be gaining additional space. The newly reconfigured ice cream parlor will create more room for guests purchasing the extremely popular hand-dipped cones, and a larger Candy Palace kitchen will allow even more guests to view magical sweet treats as they are created. These locations will close in January 2012 and re-open in the spring.

Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog – we’ll have more details on this project as it develops.
