Evilos’s popular Blind Bag Series is back for a third series! We recently talked to Evilos about what to expect and how and when you can purchase your blind bag.
Destination Vinylmation: What is the Blind Bag Series all about?
Evilos: First, thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about my latest project! It’s sites like yours that bring content most collectors would never get to read about to the Vinylmation community.
The Blind Bag Series is all about creativity, excitement and mystery! Creativity in the way of one of a kind customs by 21 artists from all walks of life. The artists were more than happy to donate customs to the project and tasked to create holiday themed customs for series three. The customs that have been sent in have blown me away. Artists have really raised the bar this series. I’m very proud to have them as a part of Blind Bags Series 3. We will be having a “Best Of Show” event that fans will vote on their favorite custom of the series. The winner will receive a Custom Evilos Trophy proclaiming that artist, “Blind Bags Artist of the Year”.
Artists will also be entered into their own separate raffle to win great prizes like figures and gift cards, just like we did last year, to say thanks for being a part of this project. The greatest joy for me is to give exposure to these great artists that may never get a unique spotlight to display their talents on this level. Blind Bags provides that outlet to them and many commissions have come out of being a part of my series.
Excitement is brought about in the way of cool prizes and side inserts like “The Puzzle Challenge”, which collectors will be challenged to complete a 12 piece puzzle. Each Blind Bags Series 3 box will contain one puzzle piece. There will be a total of 8 complete puzzles. All the complete puzzles will have the same image making it possible to complete with some effort. Collectors will have the challenging task of collecting all twelve pieces to redeem a prize through buying, selling and trading for pieces. The first collector to send in a complete puzzle will win an Urban 1 complete set with cards. There will be seven other prizes for each completed puzzle sent in including 9″ one of a kind customs and other prizes such as gift cards to the Disney Store.
The mystery of not knowing what each box may contain in terms of figures and prizes makes Blind Bags even more exciting. There will be cool inserts from my personal collection like Park 1’s, Chasers, Variants and other various figures from retired series. There will be many great one of a kind customs including: 9″ customs from John Ward, Javier Soto, Evilos & Gerald Mendez. Blind Bags Series 3 offers a fan something very unique to this hobby, which at this time has not been offered anywhere else. It’s truly the dream product for any Vinylmation fan!
DV: What can people expect from BB3?
Evilos: Each box will have 5 figures, which will include 1 Custom & 4 Random Figures, One puzzle piece, One promo pack of artist business cards that may contain other “Prizes” such as pins or gift cards. What will you get?
DV: How much does a blind bag cost?
Evilos: Price: $100 (USA) Shipping Included
DV: How and when can people purchase a bag?
Evilos: Boxes will be sold Friday September 21st @ 9am (PST)/ 12noon (EST) on the Blind Bags 3 website. There will be a strict limit of two boxes per address. These will sell out fast!

Update 9/16/12 @VM_Paris just tweeted this picture seemingly confirming the existence of the HM Variants. Earlier this week, HM blind boxes were mistakenly released in Paris. Two notes… these are ones we see in the leaked photos below and also the color looks different but that could be just the light.
It’s been a long time coming, but the Haunted Mansion series is set to be released on September 21s and 22nd. We might have just found a big reason for both the delay and why you’ll want to buy this series…
An anonymous source sent us these pictures of what seem to be variants of the figures. Only rumor at the moment, but these figures definitely take the floating wedding cake. They appear to be non clear versions of several of the figures. They also appear to be made of the plastic that would glow in the dark. Can you imagine that??? Above is Phineas and the Hatbox Ghost, although the hatbox ghost losses his gold tooth for some reason. Below we also have a version of Gus. Who knows how many of the figures get this version. What if there is a glow in the dark version of everyone? The ghosts with all glowing bodies and the non ghosts with glowing eyes or other parts?
Of course, these also could be prototypes of an earlier version of the figures before they settled on clear. These could also be, but much more unlikely, some LE combo or something. We’ll know in a week.
Here’s a look at what we think it might look like if it glows.
At Friday’s WDW Trade Night we saw some of the Star Wars Series 2 Vinylmation pins on display. The 6 pack revealed 2 known and 4 previously unknown figures.
Star Wars Series 2 is based on the first movie, A New Hope. A few characters such as Luke, Leia and Vader who where in the first Vinyl series based on this movie franchise make a reappearance here.
Luke Skywalker has the cool, double sun Tatooine backdrop in his ears.
Leia, buns and all, takes on her New Hop appearance in white robes. Her ears look like the walls of the ship.
The striking feature of this Vader is the helmet. It appears to protrude out from the head meaning an accessory is in the works! Cape? Not by the looks of the pin’s shape. The ears are all Tie Fighter and outer space.
We also have Muftak, a patron of the Mos Eisley Cantina. With this tough guy on the loose can Kabe be far behind?
We knew about the Tusken Raider and Greedo. We also know of Obi Wan and Grand Moff Tarkin. That brings the total up to 8 known figures! We are almost there. Star Wars 2 is slated for an August 2012 release. Stay up to date with our Star Wars 2 Explained page.
From Valarie Sukovaty of the Disney Parks Blog:
Nothing sets the mood over a tasty meal like just the right music. In this video, we take you behind the scenes and into the recording studio with Bill Cantos. Cantos is the music arranger of all the tunes that you’ll hear in the new Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure park. His task was to arrange classic Disney music and give it a timeless sound that blends into the atmosphere of the restaurant. Enjoy!
Reservations for Carthay Circle Restaurant may be made by calling the Disney Dine Line (714-781-DINE) or emailing dining reservation requests to dine@disneyland.com.
The Fantasmic 20th Anniversary Pass holder event features unique merchandise, park hours past midnight, an added 5 minute documentary before the show and some of the character cast gets together as the park closes at Main Street Station! No new changes to the show. It will still, as of Monday’s showing, be the same Fantasmic show.
This is my dream!
They added a post-show display.
A jam packed event worthy of some of the busiest Summer Saturdays!
These banners were scattered around New Orleans Square.
10 minutes of mmm, 2 hours of stomach ache. How about those Mickey sprinkles?

It was an honor to have the great Princess Cinderella wave to me. My life ambitions are complete.
Thanks for reading!
On July 12, a two figure 3″ combo set featuring Carl and Ellie from Up will release at Comic Con and Online. It was great to see them in person with the packaging at the WDW Trade Night. But it wasn’t just the phenomenal designs on the figures that caught my eye. The box, which features pictures of Pixar characters from all the movies, says “Vinylmation Pixar Disney #1”. Meaning… we are to see more Pixar combos coming down the line!
I have been craving this. Especially after it became clear the Animation series is staying away from Pixar. So ever since the Lightning and Mater 2 pack, I have been saying this is the perfect way to present the Pixar universe characters to us. I am super excited! I hope some Bug’s Life vinyls are just over the horizon. Maybe a Marlin and Dory combo? Remy and Linguini? What combos would you like to see in this collection?
