Tyler Dumas Poster Art Signing April 5th in Orlando
On Friday, April 5 Disney Design Group artist Tyler Dumas will meet with guests and sign his April 2013 Poster Art series merchandise at D-Street Orlando from 5-7pm. Tyler’s April design is one of my top three favorites of the entire series. (see the entire series here) This is a look at the calendar page:
Here is a look at the Vinylmation:
I think they translated the design to the Mickey platform as well as they could, but it falls a little flat to me when compared to the 2-D art on the poster. There will also, of course, be a pin available to purchase.
Now if Tyler’s artwork here looks familiar to Walt Disney World fans, it should. Tyler is the artist behind the Cinderella Castle collage that was used on merchandise to celebrate the 40th anniversary of WDW in 2011.
Tyler also created to logo for the “Room for One More” event at WDW that celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion.
Tyler is also no stranger to Vinylmation. He has his autograph on the bottom of a few vinyl Mickey feet, including:
Cutesters in Paris?
According to Vinylmation Kingdom, the Cutesters en Vogue series will release in Disneyland Paris about a month before the March 29 US release date. They may also show up on the Disney Store UK online site. VK had this photo on their website:
The photo shows the side of the tray which confirms our assumption that the flower bouquet is in fact the chaser. See the whole lineup with variants here.
30 years of Tokyo Disneyland
Can you believe Tokyo Disneyland has been around for 30 years? That seems almost impossible. To celebrate they are getting three open box figures, that I have to admit, look pretty sweet. I really like the one with the Napoleonic Sea Captain with his telescope. Two great accessories. Each figure will be 1200 Yen and will probably be available near the celebration of the 30th. The first figure celebrates the grand opening of Tokyo Disney and he holds what looks to be a retro park guide. The sea captain represents the grand opening of Tokyo Disney Sea. While the third figure is celebration the 30th anniversary with a Mickey balloon accessory.
Thanks to vinylmation kingdom and twitter user hicgrape for this picture.
Do you think one of the park sets this year will be an all Tokyo set for the anniversary, like WDW and Paris?
Episode 109 Bearded Man

|
Ep. 109 Bearded Man This week we talk to Disney Design Group artist Thomas Scott. We get a glimpse at what goes into the making of a Vinylmation line and where he sees the future of the hobby. We also get to know more about him as an artist. We also of course deliver the news of the week and the latest release dates and events. |
Diving for Eagles
Someone over at eBay must have had some time on his hands. And a pair of coveralls. It looks like we have another dumpster dive find. And while this one looks better then most, we still caution anyone from ever purchasing these “finds”.
Now for the interesting part. It looks like Maria Clapsis is at it again with a great looking holiday figure. It seems like these regular figures are the reason we no longer see new editions of Holiday series. Labeled “Independence Day 2013”, this piece looks perfect. I am totally going to get my dad one. I also enjoy the old school flag in the ears, one star for each of the original states in the union. Interesting fact: Did you know that originally when a state was added they added both a star AND a stripe. That got to be too much so they nixed the stripes, and just continued with the stars. We expect to see this in stores late May or early June, but that’s just our speculation.
What do you think of this figure?
Artist signings are totally En Vogue
Artists Caley Hicks and Thomas Scott will be at D-Street in WDW on March 29th from 5 PM to 7 PM to sign the newly released Cutesters 5: En Vogue series, the first to use the new Minnie platform. Like we do with all signing, we suggest that you say hi and thank them for all their hard work, even if you don’t have anything for them to sign.
Which Cutesters 5 figures will you get signed?
Holiday 2 Photoshoot
Groundhog Day was not too long ago. Today is Fat Tuesday, the final day of Mardi Gras. We are a few days away from Valentine’s Day. And I suppose St. Patrick’s Day and Easter are not too far away. Why do we care? Because all those holidays are represented in the second Holiday Vinylmation series. We of course took Holiday 2 around Walt Disney World for some photos. Can you tell where they were each taken? There are a coupe very tough ones here.
Disney Magic at Amway Arena
We were sent a photo by our friend Chris of a life size Vinylmation figure inside the Amway Arena in Orlando.
The Amway is the home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic. The artist is unknown. It is hard to tell in this photo, but the figure is about 5 feet tall. It is the same size a the life size mystery chaser figure that is located inside the Art of Disney store at Downtown Disney in Orlando. Here is a photo of the DDT Vinylmation…
