Disney “Pulls Back The Curtains” on The Imagination Gala

By Brendt

It feels like yesterday that I was flying down to Florida from New York, gearing up for Reflections of Evil. Well Disney is already looking ahead as today they dropped the first details on next years event, “Imagination Gala: A Magic Carpet Event”. Here is the information that they released today:

You’re cordially invited!

Unleash your imagination at a ceremony where we will celebrate the “bests” of Disney films and attractions. The best scenes, the best characters, and the best stories. Where we will celebrate the characters we “love to hate” alongside the ones who make us laugh. Where we will honor our “bests” with an “Imagination Award”, represented by a Golden Figment. At our ceremony, nominees will arrive in the grandest of styles: by way of a Magic Carpet instead of a Red Carpet!

The theme for 2014’s event is sure to be the toast of the town. Get ready for “The Imagination Gala: A Magic Carpet Event”! Be sure to mark your calendars for September 5-7 to save the date for this upscale affair.

Please note that at this time, the Gala is still in rehearsal, as the academy is diligently working to ensure a fun and spectacular experience for all! More details about the event will be released in early Spring 2014.

I must say I am pretty excited for this, and will once again be making the trip, I just wish it wasn’t so far away!!! I’m intrigued by the idea of giving certain characters and movies awards, and can’t wait to see how this is expressed on Vinylmation and Pins. Interesting choice using Figment as the central character for the event, as this could possibly alienate West Coast travelers. We will continue to post more information about this exciting event as it becomes available. Until then, let us know how excited you guys are below!!!

Nacho Rodriguez Teases a “Fancy” New Vinyl

Yesterday, Nacho Rodriguez teased another upcoming vinyl on his Instagram account.  Little is known about this figure other than that it is not another Vegas vinyl, and he used the hashtag #fancy.  Thoughts on what this could be? It seems like it could be a Minnie figure, will it be a part of a new two pack? Hopefully we get more information soon!

New Lilo and Stitch Vinyls Released/Previewed

Update 11/23/13 Full photo of Elvis Stitch added at bottom of page

Disney Store artists Ignacio Rodriguez and Enrique Pita have been very busy. Both artists have been slowly previewing their brand new Lilo and Stitch designs over social media over the course of the past couple of weeks. Today finally saw the release of one of these sets, while the other had yet another cryptic preview.

The set released today was designed by Ignacio Rodriguez and is exclusive to the Ala Moana Disney Store in Hawaii. It features Lilo and Stitch in appropriate Hawaiian attire and some pretty cool accessories, take a look:

I have a feeling these will be pretty sought after. This is one of the best Stitch’s I’ve seen yet, and I love how it looks like Lilo is dancing. Both accessories look great too. And the packaging is perfect!!

Additionally, Enrique Pita sent another preview of his Las Vegas Stitch. Take a look:

If the Hawaiian release is any indication of how this is going to turn out, I’m pretty excited. Can’t wait to see the full image of this design!! What do you guys think? Will you be flying out to Hawaii to grab one of those two packs? And do you think this Elvis Stitch will have a guitar accessory too?

Park 13 Chaser Spotted

Today at D-Street, the Park 13 combo toppers went on sale along with the brand new Frozen vinyls.  Vinylmation Exchange member Raul Chewie Rivas pulled the brand new park 13 chaser and posted pictures of it.  Take a look below:

The chaser was designed by Caley Hicks, and is an interpretation of the construction signs used around the parks.  I love the use of caution tape all around the arms (the back also features a pretty cool sorcerer Mickey).  How do you guys think this chaser compares to other park chasers? And do you think this is better than the Imagineering vinyls that were released at D23 this year? Let us know!!

Animation 4 Combo Topper Revealed

Today, Vinylmation.com posted a story revealing the combo topper for the upcoming Animation 4 series.  Take a look at the design below:

It’s King Louie from The Jungle Book!! This figure was designed by Maria Clapsis, and will be available both online and at parks for $24.95.  It is also important to note that these will be released December 20th, a week after A4 hits shelves.  What do you guys think of this topper? I think he looks great, and it is cool to see the Animation series featuring trends, as we got Baloo in Animation 2 and Mowgli in series 3.  But I have to ask, where is Three Caballeros Donald?!?! Hopefully in Animation 5…? Also, don’t we have a Jungle Book series coming out?
