New Poster & Extended Trailer Released For Disney’s “The Jungle Book”

jungle_book_ver2

Disney has just released a brand new poster for their upcoming live action version of “The Jungle Book” showcasing King Louie.

A new extended trailer has also made it’s way online. Not too many new scenes though:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt7jEI83_FI

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

BREAKING: Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights Extended Until Wednesday

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (now in its final seasons as prep work begins for the Star Wars themed land at Hollywood Studios) was scheduled to end its run tonight, however, Walt Disney World has now extended the run, and park hours, though Wednesday, January 6th, 2016.

Osborne-Spectacle-of-Dancing-Lights2

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will now be open until 10PM the next three days, with the lights running from dusk until 9PM. The Symphony in the Stars fireworks will be presented an hour later at 10PM, park close time.

The extension is likely to subdue the large crowd expected this evening, however, it does negate the farewell meal packages that were sold to guests for this weekend which no longer mark the absolute end of the 20 year run of the Spectacle.

EDITORIAL: George Lucas Versus “The White Slavers” (AKA Disney)

627360d910Capture

While recently on The Charlie Rose Show, George Lucas took time to continue his public war with Disney calling them white slavers in regards to how they have handled his franchise.

George Lucas: These are my kids.

Charlie Rose: All those Star Wars films.

George Lucas: All the Star Wars films.

Charlie Rose: They were your kids?

George Lucas: Well, they are. I loved them, I created them. I’m very intimately involved in them. And, obviously, to sell them off—

Charlie Rose: And you sold them.

George Lucas: I sold them off to the the white slavers who take these things and…[laughs]

geaorge-lucas-mickey-mouse

In the last few months, Lucas has had no problems slamming Disney and The Force Awakens. Any good relationship that they had after the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney is gone.

Lucas has said a lot of nasty things about Disney and his relationship recently comparing their relationship to a breakup:

George Lucas: “When you break up with somebody, the first rule is no phone calls. The second rule, you don’t go over to their house and drive by to see what they’re doing. The third one is you don’t show up at their coffee shop and say you are going to burn it . . . You just say, Nope, gone, history, I’m moving forward.”

The other thing with a breakup that George doesn’t get is you don’t keep talking about it either. If anything it shows that he is still hurt and he is having more problems with the breakup then the other party.

george-lucas-star-wars

The problem with George Lucas is he is acting like a spoiled little brat. I had respect for Lucas in the past and have held off from saying exactly how I feel about him in regards to his public blasting of Disney but to call Disney a bunch of “white slavers” is wrong and very irresponsible on his part.

Hey George, if you consider the Star Wars films your children, not only would you never have sold them to “white slavers”, you would have never sold them period. How can he expect people to feel any pity for him knowing that he got 4 billion dollars? Did he need the money? Nope. To be honest, he did donate a large percentage of his proceeds to charity. I just think he is getting carried away trying to make Disney look like the bad guy and that he was the poor innocent victim.

george-lucas-assina-contrato-em-que-passa-a-empresa-lucasfilms-para-a-disney-ao-lado-de-robert-iger-ceo-da-disney-em-burbank-na-california-301012-1351637255536_615x470

The main reason Disney purchased Star Wars was to make money. At the end of the day, Disney is a business and a businesses’ ultimate goal is to make as much money as possible. Are they going overboard marketing and merchandising Star Wars? I’d say so, but again they are in the business to make money. But I also think they are going out of their way to make sure that no harm comes to The Star Wars Franchise that George created. So many people love Star Wars and they are hiring the best people and consultants to make sure they don’t screw things up.

jarjar

The problem really started when Lucas decided to bring back more Star Wars film in the form of The Prequels. In the past when he worked on The Original Trilogy, he had help from people working with him about the story and what was told what seemed to work and what didn’t. The Prequels may have been a financial success but for the most part they were blasted as inferior movies.

The public began to lose faith in George as a good storyteller and movie maker. I can somewhat understand how he feels because he created Star Wars. Lucas must have felt very hurt that something that wouldn’t have existed without him, was better off without him in the eyes of the public. There are many Prequel haters out there, myself included. There are some good scenes in The Prequels, but very few and very far, far between. The writing is horrible, the films were boring, the acting was terrible, the CGI was more distracting than good and it was all due to George Lucas being a control freak and not wanting any help with the movies.

Lucas’ problem is he just doesn’t understand why people don’t like them. I could sit down with him for 5 minutes (although I could probably spend several hours) and explain to him why people don’t like them.

Greedo_shoots_first

It was one thing to ruin The Prequels but did he really have to go back and continually mess with The Original Trilogy by making changes that offended fans of The Original Trilogy? The one scene that give most fans a conniption fit is Lucas changing the scene in A New Hope where Han shot Greedo first. Lucas’ mentality was that he was concerned that by Han shooting first it would tarnish his good guy image. He even went as far to say that Greedo always shot first in The Original Trilogy but the camera angle captured it wrong. No one bought that.

collagedcfdsdsv

My problem lies in Return Of The Jedi in which he changed the Force Ghost of Anakin Skywalker from original actor, Sebastian Shaw, to Prequel actor, Hayden Christensen. I’m OK if others love The Prequels. Let them enjoy them and more power to them, but I don’t like The Prequels and don’t need to be reminded that they exist, if I don’t want to, especially while watching The Original Trilogy.

Many fans complained that they did not like the changes Lucas made and that they wanted the unaltered version of The Original Trilogy back. Lucas’ answer to the fans was that while making The Special Editions, he used the original negatives and basically destroyed parts of The Original Trilogy that he took out. Basically saying, you have to like my new versions because that’s the version I like. The Original Trilogy gave it’s life so that The Special Editions could live.

StarWarsTheForceAwakensPoster

Getting back to The Force Awakens, Lucas had not seen the movie until a week or two before the release. Disney and Kathleen Kennedy had been asking Lucas to view it for some time to get his opinion of their work. Before the film’s release, Steven Spielberg had seen the movie three times but Lucas had difficulty finding time to see it just once? For Lucas to go out of his way to avoid seeing it was just showing that he was pissed off that Disney and Lucasfilm did not rely on him for input while the film was being made. And knowing Lucas, I am sure he wanted Disney to use “all” of his ideas. My personal opinion is that The Force Awakens may not be a perfect movie, but it is a great Star Wars film and it’s the “Gone With The Wind” of Star Wars films if you put it against any of The Prequel films.

george-lucas-kathleen-kennedy

The person I feel bad for is Kathleen Kennedy, who Lucas hand chose to succeed him as head of Lucasfilm. She is stuck right in the middle. Kennedy has been long term friends with Lucas but also works for Disney. I am sure she understands why Disney did not want Lucas’ treatment to be part of the film because, like most people, she understands why people did not like The Prequels. Let’s not forget what he also did to Indiana Jones with his treatment for the last movie. Because George wasn’t willing to say it himself, Kennedy was asked whether Lucas finally saw the film and she gave the diplomatic answer saying that George saw the film and he liked it. But then a few days later George was asked to elaborate on what he liked about the film and he said:

George Lucas: “I think the fans are going to love it. It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for.”

That’s basically saying, I didn’t like it, but fans, who are not as at my level of thinking, will.

George has been on record saying that his ideas for Episode VII would be totally different:

George Lucas: “The issue was, ultimately, they looked at the stories and they said, “We want to make something for the fans.” So, I said all I wanted to do was tell a story about what happened. It’s called space opera, but people don’t actually realize it’s actually a soap opera and it’s all about family problems—it’s not about spaceships. So they decided they didn’t want to use those stories, they decided they were going to do their own thing so I decided, fine…. I’ll go my way and I let them go their way.”

Sorry George, but with your track record I’d rather spend my money on a movie that I am going to enjoy, even if it similar to previous Star Wars movies, then to spend money on something that is completely new but not enjoyable at all to watch.

article-0-0ACEADB5000005DC-486_468x321

While I was writing this article, Lucas came out and said that he didn’t mean to call Disney white slavers.

George Lucas: “I want to clarify my interview on the Charlie Rose Show. It was for the Kennedy Center Honors and conducted prior to the premiere of the film. I misspoke and used a very inappropriate analogy and for that I apologize.”

“I have been working with Disney for 40 years and chose them as the custodians of Star Wars because of my great respect for the company and Bob Iger’s leadership. Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise. I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directions in film, television and the parks. Most of all I’m blown away with the record breaking blockbuster success of the new movie and am very proud of (J.J. Abrams) and (Kathleen Kennedy).”

“Disney is doing an incredible job of taking care of and expanding the franchise. I rarely go out with statements to clarify my feelings but I feel it is important to make it clear that I am thrilled that Disney has the franchise and is moving it in such exciting directions in film, television and the parks.”

It sounds to me that George thinks he can use a Jedi mind trick and hope that we forgot all of the things he said in the past about Disney and The Force Awakens. Well, he did apologize, but he seriously needs to just let it go. Still not sure if his comments are sincere or just damage control. Only time will tell and I hope he has learned a lesson and starts to work with Disney and Lucasfilm instead of against them. Hopefully he will personally apologize to Bob Iger and maybe they can work in bringing Lucas back as a consultant.

It’s a new year, George. Do your best to let go of your hate because you know what that leads to if you don’t.

D23 Reveals 2016 Member Gift – Offers A Rare Glimpse Into Disney’s Rich Legacy

D23: The Official Disney Fan Club didn’t have to look far for inspiration for its 2016 Gold Member gift, “From the Office of Walt Disney.” To celebrate the restoration of Walt Disney’s office suite on the Studios’ Burbank lot, the Walt Disney Archives worked with D23 to meticulously reproduce 23 unique pieces from Walt’s career that trace his path from America’s heartland to the world stage.

Member-Gift-feat

Included in the assortment are items from Walt’s early years in business such as his 1923 Laugh-O-gram Films Inc. business card and the famous 1928 “Everything OK” telegram, which Walt cryptically wired his brother Roy when he lost the rights to Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Also in the collection are the 1955 Disneyland invitational press preview pass and Walt’s notes on pages from the “EPCOT Film” script from 1966. Pieces representing animation, live action, television, and theme parks—as well as Walt’s own personal life—make up this one-of-a-kind set.

Laugh-O-gram Films Inc. Business Card (1923) Madcap takes on classic tales give Walt his first screen success. Pen-and-ink Goldie Locks, Red Riding Hood, and Cinderella pave the way for a live-action Alice, whose comedic adventures in a cartoon wonderland click with audiences and spawn a series.

“Everything OK” Telegram (1928) Following the devastating loss of Oswald to his New York distributor, Walt cryptically wires his brother that all is well. Ever the optimist, as his train speeds west, Walt plans his next act… and the mouse who will be its headliner.

Disneyland Press Preview Pass (1955) While the nation watches on live television, Walt hosts the invitational opening of his original Magic Kingdom on July 17, 1955. Disneyland becomes every child’s vacation goal—and welcomes its one-millionth guest in less than two months.

Walt’s Notes on EPCOT Film Script (1966) Walt annotates writer Marty Sklar’s script introducing the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Executive Card Walker will see both this film and the EPCOT project through to completion.

Hollywood Studios Closing Multiple Offerings January 4th To Make Way for Star Wars Land

With the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights concluding on Sunday, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be moving full speed ahead on clearing land for the upcoming expansion of the park to add both the Star Wars and Toy Story themed lands.

character-meet-cars-00

The Phineas and Ferb and Cars character meet and greets, as well as the nearby Cars merchandise cart and Joffrey’s coffee location near the Premier Theater will be shuttered on January 4th, 2016 to make way for the expansion. Early work on the removal of these two meet and greets and the Premier Theater will begin at that time. No word has yet been given on the removal of the Streets of America, the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” play area, or other nearby establishments rumored to be removed as part of the expansion.

EDITORIAL: How Does Star Wars: The Force Awakens Affect Star Wars Land?

Star_Wars_The_Force_Awakens
With the immense popularity of the seventh installment of the famous Star Wars franchise firmly in place as a Hollywood mega-blockbuster, the question now is on minds (or maybe just mine) “what is in store for Star Wars Land?”

We knew that the Imagineers in charge of the Star Wars-themed land were taking major influences from Episode VII (as well as the 2 further episodes that lie ahead), but we wonder now is if the newest iteration of the franchise will take over as the only focus in the upcoming land. It had been speculated that the new area in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland would take its cues from both the new trilogy as well as the original trilogy, but clearly the new land falls somewhere in the timeline between episodes 7, 8, and 9. We know that Disney is constantly looking to cater to the next crop of fans, so is it possible that Star Wars Land will focus entirely on the new trilogy and leave the older films completely out of the equation?

star-wars-force-awakens

The most likely scenario has the new land’s attractions focusing solely on the newer films, with a few hints of the original trilogy mixed in for nostalgia. With the recent announcement of the placement of the land within both parks, Star Tours will be left out of the equation as its own separate entity on both coasts. We are not sure of many of the details, but it definitely seems as though “The Force Awakens” and its subsequent sequels will not only have a major impact on film history, but also on the future of the Disney theme parks.

First Look At Tom Holland As Peter Parker On The Set Of “Captain America: Civil War”

CZW6u2ZUAAABTEu

We still haven’t seen Tom Holland in Spider-Man costume yet but here is a shot of Holland on the set of the Avengers Quinjet in “Captain America: Civil War”. Rumor is that the reason why we haven’t seen Tom Holland in any trailers or promotional material is because everything has to be approved by both Disney and Sony. I’m sure we will get something soon. If not an official image, promotional art is bound to leak soon.

Entertainment Weekly Reveals Benedict Cumberbatch As “Doctor Strange” In Full Costume

cdn.indiewire.psdops.com

Our first official look of Benedict Cumbebatch as The Sorcerer Supreme came to us through a special issue of Entertainment Weekly. If this does one thing right, it gives me the confidence that they are following the source material. This costume is perfect. My biggest fear was that they were going to tone down Doctor Strange’s look for the real world but think this is the best Marvel movie costume after Iron Man (and Deapool!). Check out these fantastic pictures:

Here are some comparisons I put together of Doctor Strange from the comic book and Benedict Cumbebatch’s version:

New Photos Form “Daredevil Season 2”

t6773d7qupapiv1ssmic

Without a doubt, Entertainment Weekly are getting the best exclusive photos of Marvel characters. The above photo shows The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) getting the upper hand on our hero, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) What is great about this photo is it is right out of the comics where The Punisher has Daredevil chained up and lets Daredevil know that he is about to kill a mob boss. He hands over his gun to Daredevil and lets him know the only way that Daredevil can stop him from killing the boss is by Daredevil choosing to kill The Punisher. A very difficult test for Daredevil come to life in Season 2!

Entertainment Weekly also gave us our first look at Elektra( Élodie Yung) and she also looks like she stepped right out of the comic book. A far cry from the portrayal made by Jennifer Garner who looked nothing like the character.
