Return Dates Set for Fantasmic, Disneyland Railroad, and Rivers of America Attractions at Disneyland Park

Disney has finally announce the reopening dates for “Fantasmic!,” the Rivers of America attractions and the Disneyland Railroad.

 width=

Fantasmic! will return on July 17th – in celebration of the park’s 62nd anniversary – bringing new magic to this beloved nighttime spectacular. The treasured Disneyland park experience guests have loved for years, complete with its original fanfare and theme song, will be taken to brilliant new heights. New mist screens will combine with innovative, state-of-the-art projection technology for brighter and more vibrant visuals than ever before, and the show will feature new scenes inspired by Disney animated classics such as “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.”

 width=

Also this summer, the classic Rivers of America attractions will reopen, starting with Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island this Friday, June 16, followed by Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes on July 29. For decades, guests have traveled the landscapes inspired by four of America’s majestic rivers: the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande; each carefully recreated, complete with indigenous rock formations, natural forests and wildlife. The return of these watercraft will bring even more breathtaking views for guests to discover, including an enhanced adventure featuring the new Columbia Gorge section, highlighted by five picturesque waterfalls.

 width=

This new waterfront will also include several elevated trestles over which the Disneyland Railroad will travel when it reopens along with the Rivers of America attractions on July 29. This classic experience will also feature new and enhanced adventures! For the very first time, the Disneyland Railroad will make a left-hand turn to continue around Disneyland park, and Walt Disney’s legendary dioramas of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World have been carefully restored to their original splendor, with a bit of new magic added to both.

PHOTOS: Disney Debuts Automated Souvenir Vending Machines at Resort Hotels, Offering Grab & Go Theme Park Items

When you are going through the airport, you are bombarded with vending machines selling all sorts of items, including expensive electronics and more. Well, Disney resort hotels are now testing a similar offering, selling small souvenirs through an automated vending machine in the resort lobby.

 width=

The first of these machines has shown up in the lobby of Disney’s Pop Century Resort, just outside of the Everything Pop store. The machine went into service about two weeks ago. The idea behind it is that it will allow guests to grab theme park souvenirs fast, or even when the larger store is closed in the late hours of the night and early hours of the morning.

 width=

The machine is fairly small, so it just has smaller souvenirs and what might be deemed as vacation necessities. This case shows some of the items for sale.

 width=

 width=

Sadly the machine was out of order, so we did not get to try it out. When working, you can select the items you want, then swipe your card to buy it. The items will then drop out at the bottom.

width=The machine isn’t very big, so I can’t imagine that there is a huge stock of any item inside of it.

 width=

So, what do you think? Is this a good idea? Should it be rolled out to more resorts?

VIDEO: DuckTales Title Sequence Revealed, Show Premieres in August

Disney has announced that the new DuckTales Disney XD show will premiere on August 12 at midnight ET.

The reason for the late premiere is so Disney XD can celebrate the new show with a 24-hour marathon of the debut one-hour episode. With the same episode running twenty four times in a single day, that gives pretty much everyone the opportunity to watch it.

Disney has also released the title sequence for the show, which you can check out below.

Following the show’s August 12 debut, on Saturday, September 23 two additional episodes will air. DuckTales will air at 7am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, and 10:30pm, EDT/PDT.

PHOTOS: New Modern Style Value Resort Rooms Debut at Disney’s Pop Century Resort

Disney is currently in the process of remodeling all of the rooms at the Pop Century Resort and we have a first look inside of the newly remodeled lodging for you today.

We start with a little refresher course for those of you who may not remember what the current rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort look like…

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

I admittedly haven’t stayed at Pop Century since 2012 and the rooms look much worse than I had remembered. Perhaps they haven’t aged very well.

 width=

The carpet was looking (and smelling) pretty bad.

 width=

The current style rooms feature two double size beds, but that is about to change…

 width=

Welcome to the newly remodeled rooms at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, soon what all guest rooms at the resort will look like.

 width=

A look from the other side with the second bed pulled down. Both are queen size.

 width=

The fold down bed is a table when stood up. These units already exist across the lake at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort.

 width=
 width=

The entry with new curtains.

 width=

Yes, there is no carpet. It makes the room look (and smell) much nicer in my opinion.

 width=

The other queen bed sits on a new base that allows storage room underneath.

 width=

 width=

This new unit by the doorway holds the coffee maker, ice bucket, and new mini-fridge with a see-thru door. This will ensure that you never forget that you have items in the fridge.

 width=

“And what do we got on this thing, a Cuisinart?”

 width=

 width=

When pulled down, the headboard features Pluto sleeping in a Pop Art style. Get it?

 width=

There is a light above the bed, inside of the unit, which can be turned on and off via the small switch underneath the Pluto art.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

New model phones in each room, as well as plenty of electrical outlets, including USB.

 width=

 width=

 width=

A set on each of the three end tables probably means you won’t have to fight over outlets anymore.

 width=

A rather large television can be found above the dresser, which of course has even more outlets. And yes, they now have a resort channel that plays AVATAR 24-hours…
