VIDEO: New Trailer for PS4 Spider-Man Game Shows First Look at Peter Parker and More

During Sony’s press conference for Paris Games Week, a new trailer for the upcoming Marvel game Spider-Man was shown.

The teaser trailer offers a first look at the game’s story, as well as some characters we haven’t had the chance to see yet, such as Peter Parker, Aunt May, and Mary Jane Watson.

Insomniac’s Spider-Man will be released in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4.

VIDEO: International Trailer Released For “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”; New International Poster

width=If you were hoping to see lots of new footage in the international trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”, you may be disappointed. This trailer, from Japan, is basically parts of the teaser trailer, combined with the official domestic trailer, plus a few new shots of Rey, Kylo’s helmet, BB-8 and C3PO. It’s nothing like the international trailer that was released for “The Force Awakens”, which added a lot more additional footage. Lucasfilm is trying to keep as much of this film as possible under wraps and they are doing a very good job of it!

https://youtu.be/I_tNoPEa5Oc

This, however, is a little more interesting. Japan has also released a new international poster for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and in it we finally see Luke igniting his light saber. This is very similar to the domestic poster that was released recently but Luke and Rey have traded places. Does that mean anything? We’ll soon find out.

PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 10/31/17 (MARVEL Invasion, New Princess & Tinker Bell Merchandise, Halloween Party, Club 33, ETC.)

Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom for one last look at the Halloween season before Christmas settles in next week.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom

 width=

The last Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Part is on November 1st, and then it’s full speed to the Christmas season at the park.

 width=

A section of the Emporium is still behind tarps.

 width=

Items in the Vera Bradley Alice in Wonderland collection are buy one, get one 50% off at Uptown Jewelers.

 width=

 width=

The Little Mermaid collection is also available here.

 width=

A smaller version of The Dress Shop has opened towards Casey’s Corner. Many of the dresses, purses, and more from the Disney Springs shop can be found here now.

 width=

For some reason, this limited release shirt from ShopDisney is being sold in the parks concurrently. The location makes sense as this space was the House of Magic many years ago. Hopefully, more limited release shirts like this get released at the parks as well. Sadly, the matching MagicBand is online only.

 width=

 width=

The more confusing part is putting the shirt in a window that’s currently boarded up and no one can see…

 width=

 width=

 width=

Even though a few parties remain, any guest at the Magic Kingdom can now buy select items from the event.

 width=

 width=

As I said last year, I don’t agree with this. At least wait for the last party to end or send it to the outlets. It takes away one of the parks of the very expensive party ticket.

The Club That’s Made Not for You and Me

 width=

As we reported over the weekend, work has begun on what will likely be the Club 33 locations for the Magic Kingdom, the remainder of the old Adventureland Veranda.

 width=

The path into Adventureland is quite narrow right now due to the work.

 width=

 width=

 width=

Some are speculating that this work is actually for a permanent Moana meet and greet, but it seems way too extensive for something so minor.

 width=

Giant sections of awning that have been there since the 70’s have been removed. This wouldn’t be necessary for a meet and greet and could have been kept.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

With a little tree clearing, the patio would offer some unique fireworks views for Club 33 guests.

This and That

 width=

All of the trees between Be Our Guest Restaurant and the village had to be removed due to hurricane damage.

 width=

In fairness, it doesn’t look terrible since all of the walls the trees covered are well-themed.

 width=

We’re still hoping they plant some new trees, at least to cover this speaker tower.

 width=

Work continues on the outdoor covered seating area at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Should open very soon.

 width=

Pecos Bill’s has added an menu with pictures… it’s a window cling.

 width=

Splash Mountain is still closed for refurbishment.

 width=

Some new holiday plush for sale. Goofy’s sweater features bulbs that actually light up.

 width=

You can get the blown-glass Monorail ornament personalized at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

 width=

For some reason, they have a Haunted Mansion merchandise cart out in front of the store selling accessories. I suppose this is to capitalize on Halloween Party guests.

Princess Apparel

 width=

A number of new Princess items were released recently, including this Snow White line.

 width=

$36.99

 width=

$39.99

 width=

$36.99

Sir Mickey’s has the new Little Mermaid line as well.

The collection also includes this hoodie, $49.99.

 width=

Jasmine top, $36.99

 width=

Aurora top, $36.99

Three New Italian Eateries Announced for Disney Springs, Walt Disney World

Three new eateries for The Landing at Disney Springs were announced this morning by Orlando dining columnist Scott Joseph on his blog.

 width=

The new venues are Maria & Enzo’s, an Italian trattoria; Enzo’s Hideaway, a speakeasy; and Pizza Ponte, a fast-casual concept. All three are being developed by the Patina Restaurant Group and will be located in the Edison complex across from STK Orlando.

The trattoria occupies an abandoned airline terminal from the 1930’s in its Disney Springs backstory. Decor will feature air travel memorabilia and maps, while the dining room will have 50-foot ceilings and a view of Lake Buena Vista. The menu will have a Sicilian accent, with Arancini di Carne (rice balls stuffed with meat), Melanzane Parmigiana (eggplant Parmesan), and handmade pastas served tableside. Other highlights will include fresh fish, steaks and chops. This menu sounds somewhat similar to the now shuttered Portobello restaurant at Disney Springs…

Enzo’s Hideaway occupies supposed rum-rummer tunnels and is accessible through the interior of Maria & Enzo’s. Enzo’s Hideaway will feature Prohibition-style cocktails but will also serve a menu of more casual Italian dishes. This space was originally going to be the Neverland Tunnels and Walt’s Lounge, but Disney eventually handed the space over to the third-party Patina.

Pizza Ponte will be a fast-casual dining concept with pastries, pizza, Italian sandwiches, and espresso. It will feature Bomboloni, or Italian doughnuts, Triangolo (stuffed pizza bread) and Porchetta, as well as pizza by the slice.

All three restaurants are slated to open this holiday season.

PHOTOS: Construction Underway at Adventureland Veranda for Likely Club 33 at Magic Kingdom

While announced quite some time ago, we have heard little about the 4 planned Club 33 locations at Walt Disney World since. While not confirmed, it appears that the Magic Kingdom location for the exclusive club is finally under construction.

 width=

The remainder of the Adventureland Veranda restaurant that wasn’t utilized by the Skipper Canteen appears to getting repurposed for Club 33.

 width=

The outside portion of the Veranda has had a large section of the awning removed to be rebuilt.

 width=

This area will likely be reconfigured to offer a view of fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. Some trees will need to be removed.

Disney has yet to confirm any of the Walt Disney World locations for Club 33.

Visceral’s Canceled Star Wars Featured Non-Jedi Heroes and Heists

We recently learned that EA had made the decision to shut down Visceral Studios and shift the focus of their Star Wars game that was in development.

What we are now discovering about this “Ragtag” Star Wars game, thanks to a recent post from Kotaku, is that it was set to be one of the most unique and narrative focused experiences set in the Star Wars universe.

The team at Visceral Games was attempting to tell a new kind of story that would explore the world outside of Jedi and Sith, the dark side and the light side, lightsabers and the Force. This game, codenamed Ragtag, set out to tell the story of Dodger, a “cracked mirror version of Han Solo,” and a group of scoundrels who would join together on heist missions. Others in the group included Robie, the daughter of a mob boss named Oona, and Buck, the team’s mentor. While we aren’t quite sure who is who, the picture below shows the cast of scoundrels.

Visceral's Canceled Star Wars Featured Non-Jedi Heroes and Heists

The game was set to take place between the events of A New Hope and The Empire Strikes back, and would use that period to tell the story of how Alderaan’s destruction had lasting effects throughout the galaxy.

Ragtag was being written by games industry legend Amy Hennig, who wanted very much for this game to feel separate from her previous work, the Uncharted series, while still being a linear, story driven, action game. To successfully accomplish this, the team was creating a game where players would get to take control of each member of the team. Each member had unique AI so that players would easily take to the distinct personalities of each character, even when not controlling them.

Players would also be able to opt out of killing enemies by instead using strategic plans to manipulate environments. For example:

“Picture the Death Star, and they all have jobs,” said a person who worked on the game. “One Stormtrooper was on a command unit, moving boxes around. Some guys would be droids. It was supposed to be set up so it was all real, and it felt like they had jobs to do. We wanted to tap into emotions, so you could mess with Stormtroopers’ emotions. Go into a room, turn the lights off. He goes back in and turns them back on. Then you turn them off again. At a certain point he starts getting spooked, acting irrationally, and bringing friends in.”

Unfortunately, EA felt that the project was too ambitious, as Visceral was having a hard time putting together a full demo for the publisher to experience. While a lot of work had already been completed, the team was still behind on getting environments and shooting mechanics developed. EA responded to this by adding their Vancouver team to the project in 2016 to expedite development. With more hands working on the game a demo was created for EA that featured an AT-ST chase, a look around Jabba the Hutt’s palace, and a shootout on Tatooine.

EA was still not pleased with where the game was headed. The company grew concerned that the game seemed too much like Uncharted 4, the game that Amy Hennig left behind to work on Ragtag, and also felt that the game lacked some of the more iconic Star Wars characters and elements such as the Force, lightsabers, and Jedi. According to one former Visceral Games employee:

“EA would get obsessed with market research and start asking people what’s important to them about Star Wars. You’d get, ‘Oh, the Force, lightsabers, the usual Jedi continuum.’ They’re hyper focused on that stuff, and it’d be a topic of conversation in every pitch meeting.”

But EA executives weren’t the only reason why the game was struggling to come together. Reports indicate that Amy Hennig was being stretched thin and teams were beginning to become mismanaged. The project was extremely ambitious and expensive, and at some point it became improbable from EA’s perspective to continue with the game as planned.

The day the project was canceled, the team at Visceral did not even know about the game’s shift in development or the studio’s closure. One former employee recounts, “I woke up that day thinking it was a perfectly normal Tuesday. I went into work, and we had a mandatory all-hands meeting at 11:30am. That was when they told us. It came out of nowhere. I had no idea that anything like that was going to happen.”

Star Wars Battlefront II, EA’s next Star Wars game

For now, the game has shifted over to EA’s Vancouver studio, with assistance from some of EA’s other studios. The game is likely to be completely overhauled and reimagined to the point where the original concept is unrecognizable.

Ragtag seemed like it was shaping up to be quite a unique single-player Star Wars game. The kind that fans have been waiting for since the canceled Star Wars 1313. It is unfortunate that this game won’t ever see the light of day, and even more disheartening that the team at Visceral has now been disbanded. Hopefully whatever game comes from the ashes of Ragtag turns out to be a great one.
