Last week, Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrated it’s 15th anniversary with a special ceremony and some added characters in the Jammin’ Jungle Parade. We have video of both of these offerings to share with you today. First up, the morning anniversary ceremony:

Here is Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade with the added characters:

“May The Fourth Be With You” Limited Time Magic At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For a long time, Star Wars fans have proclaimed May 4th as “May the Fourth be with you” and so this year Disney is playing on that term and using it as a Limited Time Magic offering over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For one day only, May 4th 2013, Disney will host an event separate from Star Wars Weekends called “May The Fourth Be With You”. What can we expect from this? Lets take a look.

On May 4th you’ll find special Star Wars characters, merchandise, a Star Wars dance party, and to top it all off… a special Star Wars themed Fireworks Show. Characters will also be making appearances around Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and if you are lucky enough, you’ll get to ride with some of them on the attraction. (Wouldn’t it be cool if you could ride Star Tours with Chewbacca?)

A special edition of Star Wars Jedi Academy will be performed on May 4th and this time, Disney invites the parents to take the stage with the kids to be part of the fun and help battle the Empire. As soon as the sun goes down, join Lobot as DJ for the biggest dance party and fireworks spectacular in the galaxy.

All this will be part of your regular park admission, all you have to do is show up at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 4th 2013 and get ready to have fun!

Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade Coming To Magic Kingdom in 2014

Festival of Fantasy Parade will bring a celebration of New Fantasyland to the whole park with fantastic new floats, vibrant costumes, and new music that will feature classic Disney songs plus a new parade theme song.

Disney Parks to Kick Off the Summer with Another 24-Hour Day on May 24th

sul827602LARGE

Disney just announced (via a giant projection on Spaceship Earth) that the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure will be open for 24 hours on May 24th, 2013:

Our first-ever, three-park all-night party is happening at the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park in California. The parks will stay open from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25, 2013, local time.

  • In Florida, Magic Kingdom Park will feature a “Monsters University” theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade and make appearances in Tomorrowland. There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.
  • In California, you’ll be able to party the night away at both parks with special entertainment including: a “Monsters University” “TLT Monstrous” Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland park. The new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre at Disneyland park will become a Royal Dance Hall late at night with a live band and dancing; and guests of Disney California Adventure park will find Monstrous photo opportunities with new “Monsters University” “Dorms” in Hollywood Land and a new “Monsters University” float leading the Pixar Play Parade.

So, what do you think of another Disney Parks 24-hour day?

Assmebling More then Mickey Under the Sea?

Last night as we recorded I was pondering over the extra coding in the recently reviewed placeholder text for Marvel and Little Mermaid. As a reminder, this is what it says,

“The first Marvel Vinylmation collaboration, Series of 11 Vinylmation
with 1 Chaser, [Characters]: STD CHAR ADULT – MM & MN, Captain
America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man,”

“Little Mermaid Series, Series of 11 Vinylmation with 1 Chaser,
[Characters]: STD CHAR ADULT – MM & MN, Ariel, Eric, Scuttle,
Sebastian, Flounder”

STD seems to mean standard, with CHAR meaning character and ADULT as a size maybe? But that’s not what was interesting, to me what was interesting was the part that was different from the Park 13? placeholder text. In the Park text after ADULT says “MICKEY” not “MM & MN”. So what does that mean?

I think it means that the Marvel series and the Little Mermaid series will contain BOTH Mickey platform and Minnie platform figures. We just got word that they are releasing the Park 12 set which has mixed genders in the Contemporary set, why not do that with full series?

What do you think? Do you think it’s early enough in the Minnie platform run to start including them in full 12 series sets? What characters from the Marvel and Little Mermaid universes could use a dress and a bow? I kind want to see Doctor Doom in one.

Blathering Blatherskite!

Wow this has been a great week for Vinylmation and a great year for Ducktales. A little while back Campcom said it would be releasing a HD version of the classic game “Ducktales”, and now Disney Afternoons is back and the first set of series 2 is Ducktales!

I think I asked for it a long time ago, but today Disney announced that the set will include two figures- GizmoDuck and his mild manner self, Fenton Crackshell. Look at that shark fin on his head, how cool is that?

Another great announcement from Disney, and one I know a lot of people are excited about. For some people the original Disney Afternoons sets were the last time they got excited for a new Vinylmation set. According to Disney the price has raised to $19.99 and there LE was raised to 1500 (But that seems about right number of figures at the moment.) This set will come out at D-Streets and online on July 19th. And look, Maria Clapsis is the artist, which is also cool!

What do you think about this? Will this get you to stand in line?

These will be the droids you’re looking for…

Over at vinylmationworld they have just displayed a picture that looks like a silver version of C3P0. This looks like it could be a E3P0 variant, like the silver one that C3P0 meets in Cloud City. As World notes, this set has been out in Paris for a while and we haven’t heard any rumblings of a variant, so take this news with a grain of salt. It also might be any number of odd things that means it wouldn’t be more then a single version. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll learn more when the set is released at Star Wars Weekends.

Monsters University Explained

Monsters University
Release Date: June 14
$12.95
A 12 figure, mystery set based on the Disney Pixar movie Monsters University. It is mostly designed by Ron Cohee with one contribution by Thomas Scott. Overall, it is a well designed series by one of my favorite vinyl character artists. I am sure to have a stronger connection to some of the new Monsters U characters after watching the movie, but its hard to connect to a set like this before the movie is released. Mike and Sully and Randall and Sanderson look wonderful!

Update 06/19/13 Apparently there was a production error with the Art figure. He was originally shown to have a clear see through body, however the figure actually produced has a solid color body. Disney admitted the mistake and has shown us the photo of the correct Art.

However, some collectors have reported pulling the clear version. So it seems this one may be a rare unintentional “variant” of sorts.

Update 06/18/13 The chaser and a variant have been revealed by Disney. First, the chaser is Terri and Terry Perry.

Then, the variant is none other than the Scare Pig!

In the variant version, the Scare Pig has a Monsters U logo as opposed to Fear Tech. In the movie, I believe he is the mascot of FT. I’m sure the MU logo variant refers to a plot point in the movie.

Muppets 3 Explained

Muppets 3
July 26th 2013
A 12 figure blind box series designed by Monty Maldovan.

Reporter Kermit

I think this is my favorite of the set. I also think this might be a copyright problem, but I don’t care! He HAS to come with an accessory microphone! Please!

Gonzo the Great

My second favorite of the set. The cape is almost, almost awesome enough to forgive the lack of Star Wars 2 chaser nose.

Animal

Similar to the 9″ figure from the 2nd series, I hope it comes with a drumstick!

Liberty Piggy

Kinda fun, if we hadn’t seen this type of figure before.

Captain Sam

I think this is from Muppets Treasure Island, but I’m definitely getting this one for my dad (although he already has the 9″ version).

Beauregard

He needs a mop accessory. I also think they could put some crazy hair in the ears a little to do something with them!

Newsman

The maps in the ears with the brown borders is absolutely perfect. Love his look.

Uncle Deadly

He looks ugly, mean and tattered… just as he should.

Crazy Harry

Great figure! I kinda want a a stick of dynamite as an accessory!

Mahna Mahna

Looks great! Can’t wait to get this and two Snowths!
Snowth

This HAS to be the triplet!
