PHOTO: First Look at Canceled Rogue One Figure for Disney Infinity

We now have our first look at one of Disney Infinity‘s canceled Rogue One figures.

This 3D model of a Baze Malbus figure was just posted on artstation.com, by ex-Disney Infinity senior character artist, B Allen. The model looks highly detailed, and was probably in the final stages of development before heading off for production.

Although art designs for other Rogue One characters have yet to surface, we will be sure to keep you posted if they do. Here’s hoping for a look at a Jyn Erso figure.

Check Out These Unfinished Disney Infinity Figure Models

Here is a first look at some canceled Disney Infinity figure models.

These pictures were shared on Twitter by Thomas Estrada, who worked as an animator for the Disney Infinity series. On Thursday, after concept art of a Baze Malbus Rogue One figure released, Estrada responded to Twitter user Jason Inquires‘ recent Tweet with the following:

Just a few hours after Tweeting this first look at an actual Baze Malbus figure, Estrada sent out another Tweet, this time showing a picture of an unfinished Maui figure from the film Moana.

Estrada said in the above Tweet, “It was an incredible privilege to be a part of it all, highlight of my career for sure!”

Judging by the background of the pictures, and the sheer fact that Estrada has access to these figures, it is likely that he owns these prototypes. There are likely others out in the wild, possibly characters we haven’t even seen yet!

Here is a better look at the two figures:

Unreleased Peter Pan ‘Disney Infinity 3.0’ Figure Sold for Over $900

It looks like the unreleased Peter Pan figure for Disney Infinity 3.0 was closer to mass production than most thought.

Just a few weeks ago, a pre-release production figure of Peter Pan was sold on eBay for $995! The seller’s description reads:

Final Stage Production Sample, new in the box, received from a former Disney Infinity Employee.

Part of a very limited production run to ensure final quality standards before mass manufacture.

Please note, because the content patch for this character was never released, this figure will not work when placed on the Disney Infinity base.

It appears that the figure was just about ready for market, and a handful of these figures are probably still out in the wild. Of course, as noted in the above description, the figure won’t work in the game, because like many 3.0 figures, it would require a update to support it. The bottom left of the box even has a tag that notes a update is needed in order to use the figure.

For a more in-depth look at the figure, check out the latest video from YouTuber Infiniteer Adventures.

It is sad to see a figure that was so highly anticipated and close to mass production was canceled. Especially when the Finding Dory and Alice Through the Looking Glass content was still released even after cancellation.

‘Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Series’ Announced

Last night at the Game Awards 2016, Telltale unveiled an all new adventure game set in the Guardians of the Galaxy universe.

https://https://youtu.be/Koy_e_ipwng

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will release in 2017 on consoles, PC, and mobile. Although specific consoles haven’t been mentioned yet, it is safe to assume the game will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One at the very least. The season will be told in five episodic adventures, which can be downloaded individually, or purchased on a retail disc that will include episode one and require owners to download newer episodes as they release. Telltale is the team behind many immensely popular episodic adventure games such as The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Tales From the Borderlands, and Batman.

It is unclear if the game will stay true to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or follow a story of its own, as most Telltale games tend to do. The developer’s CEO Kevin Bruner had the following to say, “players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe.”

Rumors of this game started emerging a few weeks ago, but now we have confirmation. Marvel and Telltale announced their partnership last year, and until the rumors began, many speculated the game would be Avengers related.

‘Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’ Announced for 2017 Release

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was announced today during the PlayStation Experience keynote.

The rumors have been put to bed as we now have an official reveal teaser for the next installment in the fighting game franchise.

https://https://youtu.be/aAOgJ9y0Ots

According to Sony’s PlayStation Blog:

In addition to single player Arcade, Training and Mission modes, a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode will put players at the center of both universes as they battle for supremacy against powerful forces and a new villain.

This is the series first release since 2011 when Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released. Even though Capcom’s license for Marvel properties expired in 2013, the publisher has managed to produce a new entry. This strengthens reports that suggested the game will focus on Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, while abandoning characters that are licensed by 20th Century Fox.

Below is a complete list of new features and modes to expect when Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite releases in late 2017:

  • Reborn Rivalries: Universes collide once again in this all-new crossover clash for the ages, where players select their favorite Marvel and Capcom characters and engage in accessible and action-packed 2v2 partner battles.
  • Infinite Power: Pulled from classic Marvel lore, unique and game-changing Infinity Stones can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle. Each Infinity Stone provides a unique advantage to the player and represents a different aspect of the universe: power, space, time, reality, soul, and mind.
  • Iconic Heroes: Choose from a diverse roster of fan favorite characters pulled from Marvel and Capcom universes, including Iron Man and Captain America from the Marvel side, and Ryu and Mega Man X from Capcom. Many more playable characters will be revealed in the future.
  • Cinematic Story: Heroes and villains battle for supremacy in a timeless struggle set in the Marvel and Capcom universes. The original storyline answers the questions regarding the new clash and lets players step into the shoes of classic characters from both sides as they wage war against powerful forces in an attempt to defeat a new villain.
  • Accessible Single Player Content: In addition to the cinematic story experience, players can hone their skills in a variety of accessible single player modes, including Training, Mission and Arcade modes.
  • Vast Multiplayer Features: Robust online modes and content including ranked and casual matches, global leaderboards, and online lobbies with spectator mode deepen the overall experience.
  • Graphics: Unreal Engine 4 technology pushes the cinematic visuals and next-gen realism into a new era.

‘Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom’ 3 is Now on PlayStation 4

In addition to the reveal of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite today at PlayStation Experience, Sony also announced that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 would be making its way to the PlayStation Store for PS4 as of today.

https://https://youtu.be/_KctMDsHVF8

This marks the first time the game will be available for download since December 2013, when the game was removed from PlayStation Network and Xbox Live due to the expiration of the Marvel license. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will also be re-released on Xbox One and PC in March 2017.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was the last entry in the series to include non-MCU characters such as Wolverine and Magneto. Once Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is released next year, the series will shift towards more Cinematic Universe-centric characters.

Learn the Basics of Coding With Moana

If you’re looking to get your career in computer science started, Disney may just have a solution for you.

As of today, Disney has launched a new coding tutorial called Moana: Wayfinding with Code. This free introduction to computer science works similarly to a video game. Users help Moana and Maui sail across the ocean and learn the basics of coding along the way to assist in steering and sailing the boat. Later in the experience, the Kakamora attack Moana and Maui, forcing players the utilize their coding skills in order to avoid attacks.

Coding is broken down to a simpler version called “Blocks,” which just requires dragging and dropping in order to write code. This vey rudimentary take on coding will help learners to grasp the more difficult concepts that come with text-based programming.

Moana: Wayfinding with Code can be accessed for free here.

For the third year, Disney is collaborating with Code.org to host Hour of Code. This year’s Hour of Code events will take place from December 5 through 11 as part of CS Education Week. During the week, Apple stores worldwide will be hosting coding sessions using Moana: Wayfinding with Code.

Moana: Wayfinding with Code will be available in over 180 countries and in 23 languages.
