Pixar’s “Finding Dory” – Meet The Characters And Voice Actors Behind Them

finding-dory

Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” reveals its full roster of characters, as well as the voice talent tapped to help bring each character to life. Directed by Andrew Stanton, who helmed the Oscar®-winning films “Finding Nemo” and “WALL•E,” “Finding Dory” revisits everyone’s favorite blue tang Dory as she embarks on a life-changing adventure to find her family.

“It really is a whole new chapter this time,” said Stanton. “We’re introducing new characters—each with his or her own unique voice. Everyone has something special to offer, which makes it fun and elevates the whole story. ‘Finding Nemo’ was a great calling card when it came to casting this movie. I don’t take that for granted.”

“Finding Dory,” which opens in theaters nationwide on June 17, 2016, features the following lineup.

FINDING DORY - DORY (voice of Ellen DeGeneres) is a bright blue tang with a sunny personality. She suffers from short-term memory loss, which normally doesn’t upset her upbeat attitude—until she realizes she’s forgotten something big: her family. She’s found a new family in Marlin and Nemo, but she’s haunted by the belief that someone out there is looking for her. Dory may have trouble recalling exactly what—or who—she’s searching for, but she won’t give up until she uncovers her past and discovers something else along the way: self-acceptance. ©2016 Disney•Pixar. FINDING DORY - Pictured (L-R): One year after his big overseas adventure, NEMO (voice of Hayden Rolence) is back to being a normal kid: going to school and living on the coral reef with his dad and their blue tang neighbor, Dory. His harrowing adventure abroad doesn’t seem to have sapped his spirit. In fact, when Dory remembers pieces of her past and longs to take off on an ambitious ocean trek to find her family, Nemo is the first to offer his help. He may be a young clownfish with a lucky fin, but Nemo wholeheartedly believes in Dory. After all, he understands what it’s like to be different. MARLIN (voice of Albert Brooks) may have traveled across the ocean once, but that doesn’t mean he wants to do it again. So he doesn’t exactly jump at the opportunity to accompany Dory on a mission to the California coast to track down her family. Marlin, of course, knows how it feels to lose family, and it was Dory who helped him find Nemo not so long ago. The clownfish may not be funny, but he’s loyal—he realizes he has no choice but to pack up his nervous energy and skepticism and embark on yet another adventure, this time to help his friend. ©2016 Disney•Pixar. FINDING DORY - HANK (voice of Ed O’Neill) is an octopus. Actually, he’s a “septopus”: he lost a tentacle—along with his sense of humor—somewhere along the way. But Hank is just as competent as his eight-armed peers. An accomplished escape artist with camouflaging capabilities to boot, Hank is the first to greet Dory when she finds herself in the Marine Life Institute. But make no mistake: he’s not looking for a friend. Destiny resides in the Marine Life Institute, where one day an oddly familiar blue tang named Dory falls into her pool. Destiny is admittedly embarrassed by her obvious lack of grace, a product of poor eyesight, but Dory thinks she swims beautifully. The good news—or bad news, depending on who you ask—is that doctors at the MLI can’t seem to find anything wrong with him. Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” welcomes back to the big screen everyone’s favorite forgetful blue tang Dory (voice of Ellen DeGeneres), who’s living happily in the reef with Marlin (voice of Albert Brooks) and Nemo (voice of Hayden Rolence). When Dory suddenly remembers that she has a family out there who may be looking for her, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s prestigious Marine Life Institute, a rehabilitation center and aquarium. In an effort to find her mom (voice of Diane Keaton) and dad (voice of Eugene Levy), Dory enlists the help of three of the MLI’s most intriguing residents: Hank (voice of Ed O’Neill), a cantankerous octopus who frequently gives employees the slip; Bailey (voice of Ty Burrell), a beluga whale who is convinced his biological sonar skills are on the fritz; and Destiny (voice of Kaitlin Olson), a nearsighted whale shark. Deftly navigating the complex inner workings of the MLI, Dory and her friends discover the magic within their flaws, friendships and family. Directed by Andrew Stanton (“Finding Nemo,” “WALL•E”), co-directed by Angus MacLane (“Toy Story OF TERROR!”), and produced by Lindsey Collins (co-producer “WALL•E”), Disney•Pixar’s  “Finding Dory” swims into theaters June 17, 2016.

2/24/16 Marvel News Mash-up (Deadpool, Civil War, Daredevil, ETC.)

Fox’s “Deadpool” Is A Hit! What Does The Future Hold For “Deadpool” And “Wolverine”?

ty0neic0o4jqee5oms8e

It seems that the release of “Deadpool” shocked naysayers and even Fox itself. “Deadpool” pulled in $150 million during the first 4 days of release.

“Deadpool” was the movie that Fox did not want to touch. It was in development limbo for about 10 years. Due to the overall positive response from a leaked test footage trailer, Fox gave the greenlight to have “Deadpool” finally go into production. Fox still didn’t have faith in “Deadpool” and set the movies budget to just $58 million. The budget was even cut by $7 million prior to release and that is why Deadpool has this problem of always forgetting his ammo in the movie.

collagedasdadsa

So why did this movie succeed?

  • One thing is that it stayed faithful to the character. Deadpool is not Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He is just a nasty, over the top violent superhero (or more likely antihero).
  • The production team also fought for an R rating and they got it. Deadpool would not work watered down and by no means is he a hero for kids.
  • What I also felt played a huge role was the massive marketing campaign. It was rare that I did not see some “Deadpool” commercial in some form every single day.
  • Ryan Reynolds gets the character and you can tell he is a fan of the character and it is shown on screen through his performance.
  • Deadpool, as in the comics, breaks the 4th wall and fans just loved it.
  • Deadpool wears a Bea Arthur tank top in the movie.

Hopefully Fox, Warner Brothers and even Disney will learn the most important lesson. Stay faithful to the character. Which also means origin stories and costumes. Although Deadpool’s origin wasn’t exactly the comic book origin. 🙂

Cable_&_Deadpool_Vol_1_1

Before the movie even came out, Fox greenlight the sequel. If you stay at the end for the after credits scene, Deadpool reveals he will be back and joining him will be another fan favorite, Cable. He mentions possible actors that may play Cable are Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, and Keira Knightley. I wouldn’t hold my breath for any of those joining the cast though. After seeing this movie, I do have confidence they will cast the perfect actor for Cable.

rosamaha

OK, what about Wolverine? This week we learned that the next Wolverine movie may actually get an R Rating. Hugh Jackman has done an excellent job portraying Wolverine but we still haven’t seen Wolverine in all of his savage glory and that may be coming. The below image from the New York Toy Fair shows an anticipated Rated R rating for “Wolverine 3”.

Congratulations to everyone behind “Deadpool”. It’s success is much deserved.

Comics: Steve Rogers Returns As “Captain America” With New Costume And New Shield

569e646046152

The last few years in the Marvel Universe, Steve Rogers/Captain America didn’t exactly have the best of times. The Super Soldier Serum that gave Steve Rogers his strength and made him Captain America was removed from his body resulting in him aging rapidly and no longer able to be the iconic Cap that we all know and love. Steve’s partner, Sam Wilson/The Falcon, took over the mantle of Captain America and continued to fight for justice and the American way.

One thing is certain in comics. Most popular characters that either die or lose their powers always find a way to come back and Steve Rogers is no exception. Steve Rogers will make his return as Cap in the upcoming comic book series: “Steve Rogers: Captain America”.

569fb339cc6ba

Cap’s new costume, to me, looks like a hybrid of Cap’s original costume and the one that we will see in “Captain America: Civil War”. The shield is very similar to the very first shield that Cap used in the comics although this one comes apart and can be used as a weapon(see below).

Steve Rogers: Captain America will be available on Free Comic Book Day, May 7th. To make things even nicer, it will be available for free at participating comic book stores. Check your local comic book store to see if they are participating.

Marvel’s “Daredevil: Season 2” Official Trailer

asxsasx

The following pieces are going to be a bit Daredevil heavy. But, that’s OK because Daredevil is coming back and he is bringing fan favorites such as The Punisher and Elektra to the seires for what can only be some of the most epic battles we have eve seen on the series.

This trailer highlights The Punisher/ Frank Castle and you can just tell that they are heading to a show off because they dont agree with each others methods. The Punisher has always been a judge, jury an executioner kind of hero. Daredevil is a lawyer by day and still believes in the judicial system but when the system sometimes fails, that’s when Daredevil goes to work.

Original Concept Art For Marvel’s “Daredevil” Shows What Could Have Been

kh3pjtcuvcrenhncfaih

I loved “Daredevil” on Netflix. One of the things that I loved is it stayed so true to the character and tone of the comic. What could have made it even better for me was if we saw Daredevil in his classic all red costume. Turns out that was originally one of the designs (above image) that could have been used nut they went with a more modern design (below).

swz834qhr0typcxwoh0u

The above design is also faithful to the comics but when most people think of Daredevil they think of him in his red suit. The image above makes me think that somewhere Batman and Ant-Man had a baby. Deadpool’s costume was spot on in his movie and fans and the audience loved it. Dont mess with classic costumes like Spider-Man, Superman, Batman or Daredevil. Stay faithful to the source and “they will come”.

I could be wrong but it looks like there have been some changes from Cap’s costume in ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron”. Looks like more red was used on the sides and the belt covers the distracting middle red stripe. Maybe. No matter what, this looks really cool!

VIDEO: New TV Spot Released For Disney’s “The Jungle Book”

JB2

Disney has just released a new TV Spot for “The Jungle Book” containing new footage:

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.

The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

REVIEW: Zootopia Might Just Be The Best Animated Movie in 20 Years

Growing up, my favorite Disney animated movies were always the talking animal films. I grew up loving animals, so movies like Lady and the Tramp, Bambi, and The Jungle Book were the ones I usually gravitated towards. When I heard Disney would finally be making another talking-animal movie, I was overjoyed, but honestly, our fist look at the film back in 2013 was a bit of a let down. Fast forward to the 2015 D23 Expo, and we were given a preview of the film the was genuinely hilarious. That’s when the anticipation started for me. It’s fair to say after all of the clips shown online or at various events, I had seen a good 25 minutes of Zootopia before sitting down to experience the entire film. Every preview or clip I had seen made me more and more excited to finally see the finished product, but what I saw on the big screen far exceeded all of my expectations.

ZOOTOPIA – FLASH, THE FASTEST SLOTH AT THE DMV -- When rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) has only 48 hours to crack her first case, she turns to scam-artist fox Nick Wilde for help, but he doesn't always have her best interests at heart. Their investigation takes them to the local DMV (Department of Mammal Vehicles), which is staffed entirely by sloths. The new renaissance in Disney animation has brought us a lot of movies that I think are absolutely fantastic: Wreck-It Ralph, Tangled, and yes, even Frozen. But I honestly think Zootopia is the overall best film of the current crop, probably the best put together since The Lion King. It’s a radical departure from most of the current Disney lineage in that there are no princesses, there’s no love story, and it isn’t a musical. In a lot of ways, it shares a number of similarities with co-director Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph, but I think the storytelling and animation in this one are just a notch above.

The story takes place in probably the most fleshed-out fantasy world of any Disney film to date. It’s an entire planet where mankind never existed and animals evolved to create great civilizations where they all (somewhat) coexist. The creative team spent months crafting this backdrop for the story, one that proves to be as important of a character as any with a speaking part in the film. The level of detail is what you expect from this studio by this point, but it’s really fun to see them finally get to play with more modern material (iPhones, apps, etc.) in a sprawling world of their own design. The movie is worth watching a few times just to take in signage and different items that populate the backgrounds. The film is also littered with “eater eggs”, some subtle and some that could not be any more in your face.

A NEW VIEW — Unlikely partners Judy Hopps, Zootopia's first bunny cop, and Nick Wilde, a con-artist fox, find themselves riding high above the modern mammal metropolis while working together to solve a mystery. The characters are magnificent as well. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde make up one of the the greatest duos in animation history. Their pairing provides fantastic comedy, a lot of heartfelt moments, and  they just gel together very well, no doubt a product of the incredible performances from Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman. The pairing reminds me of Bernard and Bianca from The Rescuers, but there’s something about this pairing that works a little better, maybe because we get to see a friendship built rather than just a continuing story of two characters who already knew each other. The supporting cast is phenomenal. Chief Bogo (Idris Elba),  Mayor Lionheart (J.K. Simmons), Assistant Mayor Bellwether (Jenny Slate), and Flash (Raymond S. Persi) are among the more memorable characters, but the film is littered with some really exceptional, albeit short performances.

The movie also makes a pretty strong social commentary you may not see coming, but one that is especially poignant at this time. I could see a lot of parents being very happy about the overall message of the film, and who knows, maybe some adults can learn a thing or two from it as well. In an effort not to spoil the film, I won’t divulge it, but it feels fresh and different (maybe sometimes even edgy)for the realm of animation.

NATURAL ENEMIES — Zootopia's first bunny officer Judy Hopps finds herself face to face with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox in Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Zootopia." I do have a bit of a bias towards the talking-animal animated classics, but having spoken with a number of people who have seen it, Zootopia is something really special. It’s the funniest Disney animated movie in a long time and it breaks away from the princess stories to deliver something poignant, heartfelt, and fun. The end of the movie leaves me wanting to spend more time in this world, to see what Nick and Judy are going to do next and just explore more of the city and what may exist beyond its borders. I couldn’t possibly more highly recommend you see Zootopia, I think you’ll have a “Wilde” time.

Daisy Ridley Confirms Recent Clip Of Luke And Rey Is How “Episode VIII” Begins

111

When I reported a few weeks ago that we had our first clip of “Star Wars” Episode VIII”, I got flack from friends and readers that this was just the same clip that appeared at the end of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. I had seen “The Force Awakens” 6 times, and although similar, I knew this was something we had never seen before. Turns out I was right and that clip was actually our first look at “Episode VIII”.

Daisy Ridely was recently interviewed by MTV News at this year’s Academy Awards and here is what she had to say:

“Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing,” Ridley told MTV News on the Oscars red carpet Sunday (February 28). “When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff.”

“It’s such a good story,” Ridley added. “Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”
