Hackers Threaten Disney To Pay Up Or Else They Will Release “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” On The Net

 width=

Say it aint so! But apparently it is so that hackers are holding the latest “Pirates” movie for ransom and if their demands are not met by Disney, they will release the movie ahead of it’s official release date of May 25th. Although Bob Iger confirmed that hackers have notified the Disney of their demands, he did not mention the name of the film but Deadline is reporting that the film is “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed Monday that hackers claiming to have access to a Disney movie threatened to release it unless the studio paid a ransom. Iger didn’t disclose the name of the film, but said Disney is refusing to pay. The studio is working with federal investigators.

Iger’s comments came during a town hall meeting with ABC employees in New York City, according to multiple sources.

Disney’s upcoming theatrical release slate include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which opens Friday, and Cars 3, set to bow June 16. Rumors circulated online last week that a work print of Star Wars: The Last Jedi had been pirated and was being held for ransom, but days later online chatter tipped that rumor as a hoax. The studio had no comment.

The Disney chief said the hackers demanded that a huge sum be paid in Bitcoin. They said they would release five minutes of the film at first, and then in 20-minute chunks until their financial demands are met.

From Deadline:

Disney’s upcoming Johnny Depp film Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been pilfered by ransom hackers seeking payment from the studio. The hackers have demanded an enormous amount of money be paid in Bitcoin. Disney is currently working with the FBI and will not pay.

Jack Sparrow and Other ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Movie Characters Being Added to Paris Attraction

Disneyland Paris has confirmed today that Captain Jack Sparrow will be a permanent audio animatronic feature in The Pirates Of The Caribbean when it reopens later this year. The news comes after the media event on Sunday to welcome the European premiere of the new movie. Disneyland Paris will be the final Disney park to receive the character additions in hopes to incorporate the movie franchise with the classic Pirate Of The Caribbean attraction.

There’s still more to come with this renovation plan, as Pirates of the Caribbean is set to receive brand new latest-generation audio-animatronics, to give the vignettes a more lifelike effect. Characters from the successful film franchise – such as Jack Sparrow himself – will also be brought into this iconic ride at Disneyland Park, from July 24th.

The release remarks that multiple film characters will join the ride, but who all will be joining Jack remains to be seen. The attraction is currently under refurbishment, as seen below:

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, Stephen Graham as Scrum, David Wenham as Scarfield and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.

Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The executive producers are Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr. and Brigham Taylor. Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” drops anchor in U.S. theaters on May 26, 2017.

D23 Summer Issue Goes Behind-the-Scenes of Pandora – The World of Avatar & More

Disney’s summer issue of the D23 magazine will show an in-depth look behind-the-scenes of the upcoming Animal Kingdom land Pandora – The World of Avatar.

Readers will find exclusive commentary by Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, Avatar director James Cameron, and movie producer Jon Landau on how Pandora was conceived and crafted. Here is a sneak peak at what Cameron has to say in the latest issue:

We didn’t build sets of all this stuff when we made the movie. It was all in a computer, so, to be able to walk around it in full-scale? It’s unfathomable. We’re literally on Pandora! I’m on Pandora! It was a pinch-me moment to ensure I was really awake and actually in the world we had created.

D23 Gold Members will receive a Na’vi translator card featuring the Shaman of Songs, the new animatronic character that will be featured in Pandora’s boat ride attraction Na’vi River Journey. When used with the Na’vi language translator device (which will be available for purchase in Pandora) it will teach guests how to say certain words in the Na’vi language.

Also available for D23 Gold Members, there will be an alternative cover variant for the summer issue that features the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Newcomers to the series Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelario discuss what it’s like joining the crew of the popular film franchise.

Aside from Avatar and Pirates, here’s what else readers can expect to see in this next D23 magazine:

  • Cristela Alonzo talks about her role in Cars 3
  • Chris Hemsworth talks about Hulk’s appearance in Thor: Ragnarok
  • Disney Imagineering’s Steven Davison and Kim Irvine give first look at the return of Fantasmic! and Disneyland’s Rivers of America
