George Lucas Will Not Contribute To The Writing Of “Indiana Jones 5”

collagedsdssddss

Collider has revealed that George Lucas will not be involved with the writing of the script for “Indiana Jones 5”.

From Collider:

David Koepp said he’s hard at work on writing the script for Indiana Jones 5, but one big question that loomed over the film was whether Lucas would be involved. The way the franchise worked in that past was that Lucas would come up with the idea for the movie and Spielberg would execute it. When Indy 5 was announced, Lucas’ name was nowhere to be found. Spielberg subsequently said Lucas would serve as an executive producer on the film, but in speaking with Koepp, the screenwriter revealed that Lucas is not involved in the story of Indiana Jones 5:

“He’s not, to my knowledge. I’ve had no contact with him.”

For most fans of the Indiana Jones series, that George Lucas is not involved with Indiana Jones 5 can only come as good news. “Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull” should have been the triumphant return of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones for one last time. It should have been, but thanks to George Lucas, we got a ton of awful CGI that was reminiscent of what he used in the “Star Wars” Prequels. We also got memorable scenes of Indiana Jones surviving an atomic bomb test by hiding in a refrigerator and being rocketed miles into the air and escaping without a scratch; and Shia Labeouf swinging like Tarzan with a bunch of monkeys that bonded with him because they shared the same haircut.

I’ll be honest though, I’m not crazy that they are bringing back David Koepp, who also worked on the script for “Chrystal Skull”. I feel like his association with his work done on “Indy 4” is reason enough not to ask him back. But according to Collider, Kope says he learned from his mistakes.

From Collider:

“It’s hard because you can learn like if something maybe didn’t work as well as you think it would well we certainly wouldn’t do that again, but you wouldn’t have done that again anyway, you already did it, so it’s hard to say. For me it was the MacGuffin dictates everything, and so we tried to make the best possible choice we could. Not that nobody didn’t try to make the best choice that they could in the past, but we tried to give us the one that gave us the Indiana Jones movie we most wanted to see.”

Let’s hope so.

One thing that I think most can agree with is that with Lucas not being involved, the writing process will no longer be a dictatorship in which Lucas made all script decisions. With the new Lucasfilm, ideas are discussed among the likes of Philip Kaufman (who contributed to all of the Indy films); David Koepp (who has worked on many of Spielberg’s movies); Steven Spielberg, who should have more of an influence in the movie and Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, who has taken more of an active role in the development of movies like “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. I wouldn’t be surprised too if Lawrence Kasdan (“Raiders Of The Lost Ark”, “The Empire Strikes Back”, “The Force Awakens”)  makes a return to the franchise. And of course, some minor input from Indy himself, Harrison Ford.

Lucas will return as executive producer, which should always be the case. Indy really is his character. I still wouldn’t mind if Lucas was involved with the script as long as his ideas are submitted for approval. And no more refrigerators!

UPDATE: Man Arrested for Attempting to Bring Loaded Firearm into Epcot, Walt Disney World

A Louisiana Man attempted to bring a loaded firearm into the Epcot theme park on Monday, according to reports.

The weapon was found at the security check point at the entrance to the park, prior to the metal detector area. The man disclosed he had a gun on him prior to being screened. The loaded Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 Automatic was found in a case underneath a jacket tied around Michael Langston of Abita Springs, LA.

The deputy wrote in the arrest report that Langston had no plans to declare his weapon to authorities prior to being chosen for screening and planned to bring the loaded weapon into the park if he wasn’t stopped. The man was arrested as he was in possession of a concealed firearm with no permit.

REVIEW: New Menu Items at Restaurantosaurus in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Recently, Restaurantosaurus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom underwent a slight menu change, so we decided we should head on over and check it out.

Menu, Restaurantosaurus at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

New to the menu is a Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich, but there were a few things on the menu here that we had never tried before (which we will review below).

If you are interested in hearing more about the Double Angus Bacon Cheeseburger that is not pictured on the menu, we have an entire review dedicated just to that item that you should check out. Also,m Flights of Wonder is not a menu item and I’m not sure exactly why it has a strangely placed ad on the back of the menu…

Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich ($12.99)

I subjected myself to the new Chicken BLT sandwich. You can’t see the chicken in the picture above because the sandwich is topped with 1/4 of a tomato essentially.

Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich ($12.99)

Grilled Chicken BLT Sandwich ($12.99)

The bun was soft and flaky (again, why don’t they just have this bun everywhere?), the bacon was cooked nicely, the tomato piece was large, juicy, and very fresh, and the chicken was cooked well enough. I know Disney seems to be overusing gate arugula lately (it is also on the Buffalo Chicken Chips we reviewed yesterday), but I really enjoy it. This sandwich was good and filling, and I would order it again if I was dining here.

Someone join our party ordered the ubiquitous Chicken Breast Nuggets, so I took a picture. The Weird part is that it now comes with a Southwest Salad. The Chicken and the fries were fine, but the Southwest Salad was bit on the unpleasant side and completely different from what we had experienced with the baked potatoes at Fairfax Fare.

Chili-Cheese Hot Dog ($10.69)

Chili-Cheese Hot Dog ($10.69)

Chili-Cheese Hot Dog ($10.69)

First off, the mushrooms do not naturally come with the hot dog, but were added at the rather large toppings bar you can find at Restaurantosaurus. This thing was terrible. The bun was flavorless, the hot dog itself was fairly standard, and chili-cheese topping left a lot to be desired. This is probably not what you want to eat here.

Chili-Cheese Fries ($4.99)

We also had an order of Chili-Cheese Fries, which as you would guess after reading about the hot dog, were also pretty bad. I don’t enjoy Disney counter service french fries and the chili-cheese topping didn’t improve upon them at all.

Overall

I like Restaurantosaurus typically. The interior and music loop are a lot of fun and there is certainly enough on the menu to please, you just need to be careful what you order. If you like chicken, the chicken sandwich and the chicken breast nuggets are fine options, and if you like burgers, the single or double cheeseburger won’t steer you wrong. Unlimited fountain beverage refills and a sizable toppings bar help out a lot too. I would easily go here over Flame Tree Barbecue and Pizzafari currently, but I would probably prefer Yak and Yeti’s counter service offering if I’m going that route.

REVIEW: Disneyland Park Introduces Insane Cereal & Candy-Topped Doughnuts

Disneyland Park is home to some of the most epic theme park snacks of all time: the Dole Whip, the churro, and the Mickey Pretzel, just to name a few. Now, as of this past weekend, it is home to specialty doughnuts. BUT DO THEY LIVE UP TO THE RICH LEGACY OF JUNK FOOD AT DISNEYLAND? You are about to find out…

Disneyland doughnuts can be found here, at the hub coffee cart

Disneyland’s doughnuts can be found here, at the hub coffee cart

The hub coffee cart is home to the crazy creations, an interesting spot to say the least. This location already can boast some pretty hefty lines (even without selling Starbucks Coffee), never mind with these colorful treats glistening in the visible display case.

Each doughnut is $5.75 each

Each doughnut is $5.75 each

All 3 doughnuts we found upon visiting are $5.75 each. Enough yapping, let’s eat some “family-based treats” at the Happiest Place on Earth.

The peanut butter cup doughnut was OK. It tasted like a donut with a peanut butter cup on top… which I suppose is what it is. The chocolate icing was nice in flavor, but the actual donut was meh. In fairness, it was 10pm in the evening when these were obtained, so they just might have been sitting there for too long to be perfect.

Lemon Doughnut with Fruity Pebbles ($5.75)

Now the lemon doughnut covered in Fruity Pebbles… this one is amazing. The lemon icing mixed with the fruity pebbles is simply magically. Even though the doughnut underneath wasn’t very fresh, the tartness of the lemon mixing with the sweet Fruity Pebbles makes for one of the absolute best snacks in all of Disneyland.

This vanilla donut was just alright. It is really, really sweet, In fact…

In-joke for my fellow wrestling fans…

The waffle cone bits were soft and not crunchy which is not what we expected. The M&M’s Minis actually worked very well on the doughnut. This one isn’t a bad choice if you have picky eaters or kids in your party who want to get in on the fun.

OVERALL

We should probably try them again when they are fresh, but regardless, the Fruity Pebbles doughnut is the real winner. This thing can go toe-to-toe with the best of them as far as Disneyland snacks are concerned. Be sure to give that one (and maybe one of the other two) a shot on your next trip to Disneyland Park.

RUMOR: New Show to Replace “Celebrate the Magic” Nighttime Spectacular

The Celebrate the Magic projection show that takes place on Cinderella Castle nightly at the Magic Kingdom is rumored to be replaced soon.

celebrate-the-magic-00-new

The recent projection system upgrades that took place late in the Summer and some work surrounding the Castle point to the show’s replacement. Note that this replacement would be another projection-only show, not a replacement for the larger Wishes! nighttime spectacular, which is still heavily rumored as well.

We expect an announcement from Disney very soon on this change.

Man Dies Hours After Riding Star Tours

According to the Florida State Database for theme park illnesses, injuries, and deaths, a 67-year-old man died last month within 24 hours of riding Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

star-tours-00

Ralph Lyles of Memphis, Tenn. was reported to be listed under deaths after Disney submitted their quarterly report to the state. Florida law does not mandate state inspection for rides, though every three months the theme parks are required to send an updated list to the state that includes any illnesses or injuries that sent the victim to the hospital for at least 24 hours.

The cause of death was listed as “hypersensitive cardiovascular disease with other significant conditions contributing to death listed as obesity.”

The report stated that Lyles had pre-existing heart conditions and even mentioned feeling ill after riding.

WALT DISNEY RECORDS SOUNDTRACK SET FOR RELEASE ON NOVEMBER 18

BURBANK, CA – October 24, 2016 — Set for release on November 18, the Moana original motion picture soundtrack features seven original songs and a full original score, plus two reprises as well as two end-credit versions of songs from the film. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.

The diverse and dynamic team behind the film’s inspired music includes Tony®- and Grammy®-winning songwriter/composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, who counts among his credits Broadway’s Pulitzer Prize-winning and multiple Tony-winning “Hamilton” and the Tony-winning “In the Heights.” The creative team also includes three-time Grammy®-winning composer Mark Mancina (“Speed,” “Tarzan” and the Oscar®-winning “Training Day”) and Opetaia Foa‘i, the founder and lead singer of Te Vaka, a winner of numerous world music awards.

“How Far I’ll Go” is Moana’s song written by Miranda and is performed in the film by newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho. The end-credit version of the song is performed by Canadian singer/songwriter and Def Jam recording artist Alessia Cara. Her gold-certified album Know-It-All includes the multi-platinum singles “Here” and “Wild Things,” plus the critically-acclaimed single “Scars to Your Beautiful.” Cara is a Juno Award winner for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and is a 2016 America Music Award nominee for New Artist of the Year. Written by Miranda and performed by Dwayne Johnson in the film, “You’re Welcome” showcases the colorful personality of Maui. Fisher, who recently opened for Alicia Keys at this year’s Apple Music Festival, has joined the Broadway cast of “Hamilton,” and is set to release his full-length album in 2017.

For centuries, the greatest sailors in the world masterfully navigated the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, 3,000 years ago, their voyages stopped for a millennium – and no one knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island on a daring journey to save her people. Inexplicably drawn to the ocean, Moana (voice of Auliʻi Cravalho) convinces the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson) to join her mission, and he reluctantly helps her become a wayfinder like her ancestors who sailed before her. Together, they voyage across the open ocean on an action-packed adventure, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills her quest and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.

The Moana soundtrack can be pre-ordered today HERE and a digital pre-order will be available Friday, Oct. 28th. The Moana original motion picture soundtrack features 14 tracks and will be available wherever music is sold and streamed on Nov. 18, 2016. The Moana two-disc deluxe edition and the digital deluxe edition soundtrack, which are also available Nov. 18, feature additional tracks including demos, outtakes and instrumental karaoke tracks.
