BREAKING: First Details On How Disneyland’s FastPass+ Will Work

Get ready Disneyland, because paper FastPass tickets are about to be a thing of the past…

magicBandFeatured

MagicBands aren’t coming, but digital FastPass is heading west…

Disneyland Resort will soon be ready to rollout their version of a next generation FastPass system, following in the footsteps of Walt Disney World’s introduction of FastPass+ a few years ago.

Unlike the Walt Disney World system, booking for Disneyland FastPass+ reservations can only be made DAY OF, none will be available in advance. The reservations will be able to be booked either via the mobile app, website, or via in-park kiosks. As far as kiosks are concerned, they will no longer require you to visit individual attractions; there will simply be a few of these stations park-wide that you can visit if you need to.

Unlike the WDW system, guests will be able to book just one FastPass at a time. Whether they use that FastPass or not, once a certain amount of time has passed, they may book another. Think of this as the current FastPass system, but gone paperless.

There is no word on how this switch-over will affect distribution for tickets to nighttime shows such as World of Color or Fantasmic! as of yet. It is also unknown if more attractions will begin offering FastPass queues once this new system rolls out (Walt Disney World nearly doubled the number of offerings with FastPass with the introduction of FastPass+).

Originally it was assumed the system would rely on RFID ticketing, and while still possible, it seems more likely it will be a barcode system that can be scanned off of a card or even the Disneyland mobile app.

The Disneyland App already has a digital ticket, so a barcode scan for FastPass make sense

No word has been given on when this system might roll out, but it sounds as if it may be soon, even before the end of 2016. Of course, everything read above is subject to change as Disney moves forward. Stay tuned for more information as an official announcement is expected to be made by Disney in the near future.

A few questions with Chef O’Donnell:

What’s something new you plan to bring to the local culinary scene?
We plan to bring a fine-dining experience, showcasing the high-energy atmosphere along with great food and service we have become known for.

What is your first impression of Central Florida’s food scene?
The food scene in the Orlando and greater Central Florida area is on a steady rise due to increasing guest demand for sophisticated dining, and STK is excited to be a part of that continued growth.

Will you incorporate the farm-to-table trend at STK? If so, do you plan on getting any ingredients from Central Florida-based or Florida-based farms?
I am looking forward to growing my relationships with local vendors and purveyors to utilize the resources that are available in the area, especially seasonal fruits, produce and seafood.

How will STK Orlando compare to your other locations?
STK Orlando is going to be one of our largest locations at about 15,000 square feet, with both indoor and outdoor seating. We will feature new dishes specific to Orlando like our Florida grouper, as well as signature STK dishes fans know and love.

VIDEO: IMAX Featurette For Disney’s “The Jungle Book”

JBBBB

Walt Disney Studios has released a brand new IMAX featurette for Disney’s “The Jungle Book”.

Let go of your fear and watch this brand new sneak peek from The Jungle Book, featuring Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Neel Sethi as Mowgli.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYbD8roPxxE&feature=youtu.be

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Giancarlo Esposito as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world. The wild adventure swings into theaters in 3D on April 15, 2016.

BREAKING: Significant Updates Coming to FastPass+, Guests No Longer Need To Use Kiosks

Starting April 10th, a series of very important upgrades will be made to your FastPass+ experience at Walt Disney World.

magicBandFeatured

After booking their initial 1-to-3 FastPass+ reservations (you will now have the option to book anywhere between one and three, not forced to pick 3 initially), guests will now be able to book an additional and  even further FP+ reservations through the MyDisneyExperience app. These can be made one at a time, so once you finish your initial reservations that were made in advance, then you may book another. With every additional FP+, you are able to just book one at a time and only book another once the previous are completed (as the system works now, but you will be able to book additional FastPass+ yourself through the mobile app or website, and book for another park if you plan to switch).

With the upgraded system, guests will be able to choose an attraction and time for the attraction simultaneously, instead of simply hoping that a time they wanted would be suggested after making their three initial attraction choices. This should allow guests to better customize their daily plans to their liking.

Other new features include the ability to remove individual guests from a FastPass+ reservation and the ability to cancel a single FastPass+ attraction reservation instead of all of them.

With these changes implemented, the Quick Picks FP+ option will be removed.

Guests will see significant changes to the look of the app (and kiosk interface) on April 10th, 2016, but larger changes that will make the app look and function more like the new official Disneyland Resort app are still expected at a later date.
