DLR & WDW 2013 Calendar Differences
A few days ago, we revealed what the inside of the 2013 Walt Disney World calendar looks like, also revealing the line up for the 2013 poster series of Vinylmation. Then we received a photo of the Disneyland 2013 calendar from Thomas. He showed us that the December poster, along with a few others, are different depending on the coast you purchase your calendar on.
The DLR version includes Disneyland icons. The differences include the Buena Vista St. Walt and Mickey statue in the “1”. Then over in the “3” the ’59 Matterhorn, Retro Mickey star, ’01 Grizzly Peek, and Disneyland partners statue are all different than the WDW version (see below).
Here are the other pages that have DLR icons instead of WDW. (Check out the entire WDW calender and corresponding Vinylmation here.)
Painting a Picture of Faces to Come
by Nick Lam
If you are looking for some inside scoop on what might be the next Vinylmation design, check out the Vinylmation Digital Painter game on Disney.com. You can create your own Vinylmation design with their templates of various old/new characters.
Here is the first page when you enter.
It shows you how to create your very own Vinylmation. You can use different pens, buckets, and erasers, etc.
The cool thing I caught was the faces and bodies we have not seen yet. There are some familiar faces, and some new ones. Here are some the new ones I did not recognize and supposed they were new.
As you can see there is the seagull face from Cutesters at the Beach, The next two are some animals. Apparently they look like a bird and a cat. They might be another Cutesters set or some sort of animals set? Next are some familiar faces.
On the top is Miss Bianca from the Rescuers Animation 2 combo set. In the middle, is an unreleased face of Peredita from Animation 3 coming out in January 2013. On the bottom is an unfamiliar face of a fox.
The next picture is an unfamiliar human face. He is probably going to be released sometime soon. Then you see a familiar clown that was the Vinylmation Jr. Cast Chaser at the Mickey’s Circus Trade Event in September 2012. The next two are also clowns, but we have not seen anything of them yet.
The top face is a man face.We have not seen this one either. The next four going down is what looks to be the newly announced Cutesters en Vogue. They have nice eyelashes with big red lips. This set will come out in 2013 and will have eight figures including a chaser. They will be used with a new Minnie Mouse mold that has a dress. The next appears to be mask kind of reminiscent of Eve. Those are the only new faces we have not seen. I cannot identify the bodies or accessories, but you sure can make your own Vinylmation with them. Have fun with this new game and be on the look out for these new faces in the Vinylmation world!
What’s Your Top Ten of 2012?
It’s the time of year we begin to reflect on the last twelve months. Around Destination Vinylmation headquarters that means thinking about all the Vinylmation headlines, events and releases we experienced over the past year. Soon, we will be releasing our Top Ten of 2012 lists… and we want yours too.
Between now and December 20th, email us your list (DestinationVinylmation@gmail.com) along with your name and hometown. Also, attach any pictures you wish to post that correspond to your list (not all list items need a corresponding picture). You may also submit a picture of yourself to post at the top of the article… this is of course YOUR list. All we ask is you keep it to 10 things. You can also include a few sentences with each item on the list explaining what and why it is on the list. What can be included on the list? Practically anything you want, as long as it is Vinylmation related. Here are some ideas: The biggest news stories, events, releases, episodes of Destination Vinylmation (wishful thinking), individual figures, whole sets, personal collection triumphs, the time you met your favorite artist, anything you want. Mix and match. These are your lists, so pick things that are personal to you, not what you think should universally be the top ten. We will then post them over the course of the last couple weeks of December. Have fun! We can’t wait to read them.
Now the fine print. Destination Vinylmation reserves the right to edit or not post your lists due to language, length or other unforeseen reasons.

Reservations for New Fantasyland’s “Be Our Guest” Restaurant Open August 20th!
Well, you have been asking us for months and Disney has finally answered the question: You can make your reservations beginning at noon August 20 at 407-WDW-DINE for Be Our Guest Restaurant in New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.
You can make reservations for up to 180 days out – the very first seating will be for dinner on November 19 by calling 407-WDW-DINE (3463), or visiting any Guest Relations theme park location or Guest Services desk at a resort. Online reservations will be available beginning two days later on August 22 by visiting www.disneyworld.com/dine.
On the Disney Dining Plan, Be Our Guest is one quick-service entitlement for lunch, and one table-service restaurant entitlement for dinner. Guests will be required to give a credit card number when making reservations and it will be charged if they do not show up for their reservation, as is policy with many other popular Walt Disney World restaurants. Disney also provided a short description of the restaurant:
Lunch is quick and casual, with guest-activated terminals that make ordering a snap (there also will be traditional cashiers for cash orders and special dietary requests). You order, take a seat and lunch is delivered to your table – on china, not paper. Dinner is table service.
Cuisine is French-inspired to match the hit animated film’s theme, with three themed dining rooms: the mysterious West Wing with the “enchanted rose”; the Rose Gallery with twirling, larger-than-life figures of Belle and Beast; and the elegant Ballroom with domed ceiling, twinkling chandeliers and glimpses of softly falling snow outside.
So, who’s ready to wait on hold for a few hours on Monday afternoon?
Vinylmation Reporters Wanted
Have you ever wanted to write for a popular website? Well good luck. In the mean time, why don’t you put your Disney and Vinylmation passion, knowledge and skills to work writing for Destination Vinylmation. We are looking for collectors out there who are dedicated to deliver opinion and news articles on a regular basis. Some of the things we are looking for are “blue sky” type articles where the ideas and topics are endless. We would also like articles that cover events… at WDW, DLR and across the globe. Also, coverage and reviews of the daily news. Photographers are also very welcome.
We also want to invite you to help us with the podcast. We are always looking for new ideas, topics and segments to bring into the mix. In both print and podcast, we would like a majority of the topics to be on Vinylmation, but as you know, we stray into other Disney related categories as well. So if you have some ideas for a column, bring them to the table. Or if you just want to report on the news, we want to hear from you today. Email us at DestinationVinylmation@gmail.com.

Step Through the Magic Mirror at New Fantasyland’s “Enchanted Tales with Belle”
Walt Disney Imagineering has provided a video taking a look inside Enchanted Tales with Belle today. Albeit still not as cool as the look we gave you a few weeks ago, it is nice to hear from those behind the project about it and see more of the little details:
Changes to Release Schedule
Disney updated the Events page of the Disney Vinylmation Blog today and with that, came a couple date changes. The Pixar Tuck and Roll combo, still listed as LE 1000 by the way, has been moved from December 28 to January 4.
Also, while Disneyland will still get the open edition 2013 figure on December 28, Walt Disney World will have to wait until the following Friday. Due to an early release in Hong Kong, we think the Open Edition 2013 figure will be this one…
And on February 1st at the Aulani Resort in Hawaii, the following Mickey and Minnie figures will be released.
They are LE 1500 and retail for $14.95. This is a clarification as well because the way Disney originally listed these items did not make sense.
Check out the full upcoming release calendar here.
