Disneyland Resort To Move Security Screenings to Include Downtown Disney
From the OC Register:
ANAHEIM – Disney is moving one of its security checkpoints so that Downtown Disney is pulled inside its secured area.
The move was expected to be completed by year’s end.
“We are moving the location of our bag-check and metal detectors to the point where guests enter our property through Downtown Disney and the Mickey & Friends parking structure,” a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman said.
Guests would be checked as soon as they left the Mickey & Friends parking structure before boarding the tram toward Downtown Disney.
Two other checkpoints are set to be added: one of them will be between ESPN Zone and Rainforest Cafe and the other between ESPN Zone and Earl of Sandwich restaurant. Officials said these would likely service guests coming from the hotels.
Officials hope the change will make it easier for guests: They could leave Disneyland or Disney California Adventure for Downtown Disney, a shopping and restaurant district, and return to one of the parks without going through a checkpoint for a second time.
Guests can already pass from one park to the other without going through a checkpoint.
The checkpoint on the east side of the parks, near the Harbor Boulevard entrance, is not moving for now.

Paint the Night Parade Returns November 18th on Select Evenings Through Holiday Season
Disney’s Paint the Night Electrical Parade will return to Disneyland Park for the busy holiday season starting November 18th, 2016 on select evenings.
As of now the parade will be performing during the busiest holiday weeks and on weekends through the season. The new parade times appear to be 6:30PM and 10:30PM, a pretty big departure from the original Summer schedule for the parade (despite Disneyland Park still being open until midnight on those evenings).
The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to replace Pain the Night in January for what is being promoted as a limited time run.
PHOTOS: Christmas 2016 Merchandise Featuring Obscure & Rare Disney Characters Hits Shelves at Disney Parks
While visiting Disney Springs over the weekend, I couldn’t help but notice that it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…
It’s almost Halloween, but it’s now full speed towards the Christmas holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort. Apparently, an entire, HUGE Christmas store in Disney’s Days of Christmas just isn’t enough for Disney Springs, so holiday merchandise has now taken over what was the Wonderful World of Memories shop (located between Hanes Design-A-Tee and The Art of Disney). This is located literally right across the path from Days of Christmas as well.
Now, we already previewed all off the great new ornaments for 2016 in our last Disney Springs photo report, including the Pluto reindeer ear hat seen above, so go check that out if you haven’t.
The continued growth in the popularity of some of the older films in the Disney library is showcased this year, with Bambi taking center stage with an entire ceramic kitchen collection.
Even friend Owl is in on the fun. He is $16.99.
The Thumper gravy boat is $26.99.
Bambi and Flower retail at $19.99 each.
The teapot features Mickey and Minnie Mouse on the front, but…
Some of the animal characters from Sleeping Beauty can be found on the back.
Some of the shirts feature a few more obscure characters in plush form on a tree. Keep this in mind for later…
Remember those plush characters on the tree in some of the merchandise? Well, Disney made those plush as ornaments you can buy. They feel a bit pricey at $16.99 each, but it is a rather fun assembly of characters, including Meeko from Pocahontas above.
The rather cute collection includes Chip, Dale, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Flower, Thumper, Bambi, Meeko, Robin Hood, Olaf, Sven, and the three bear brothers from Brave.
This tin Countdown to Christmas sign is pretty neat as well.
So, what do you think? Will you be buying any of the 2016 holiday merchandise at the parks?
VIDEO: New Alien Plant-life & An Interesting Look at Construction in Our Latest Update on Pandora: The World of AVATAR
As we grow ever closer to the opening of Pandora: The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2017, new details continue to emerge for this exciting new theme park land. While visiting the Nomad Lounge over the weekend, I discovered that a large portion of the bridge from Discovery Island into the alien world was mostly uncovered, showcasing some amazing new details, including what looks like some small plants and mushrooms that may illuminate in the evening. We also took a short walk out to the Animal Kingdom bus loop to see an interesting angle of the construction from behind. We take a look at all of this and more in our latest video update on the progress on the project:
PHOTO REPORT: Animal Kingdom 10/24/16 (Rivers of Light, AVATAR, New Merchandise, ETC.)
In our latest photo report, we catch up on Pandora: The World of AVATAR, Rivers of Light, and all of the other goings-on around Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Get ready for a wild time!
Welcome to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Pandora: The World of AVATAR
I decided to take a walk down to the bus loop at Animal Kingdom to see the progress on Pandora: The World of AVATAR. This area offers an interesting view of the construction.
Small glimpses of the land are available from the Rainforest Cafe park entrance.
Steel is still going up on the ground level of the land, for what we don’t know.
As more and more trees are planted and the surrounding ones grow in, it is becoming harder to see the construction from some angles.
More of the alien lampposts have gone up along the bridge.
For some reason, there is a second set of construction walls behind the first.
Most of the bridge between Discovery Island and Pandora has been uncovered.
Some strange and colorful plant life and mushrooms are “growing” on the bridge, it looks like they may even light up.
New Starbucks Mug
A new Disney Parks exclusive Starbucks mug was recently released.
Flame Tree Barbecue
Work continues on the expansion of the Flame Tree Barbecue restaurant.
Rivers of Light
Rumors continue to swirl that guests at Destination D: Amazing Adventures will see Rivers of Light first, and some visible work in the viewing area leads us to believe we are nearing the first soft-opening of the show.
One of the boats that will be in the show was docked and charging by the viewing area.
Maharajah Jungle Trek
The new monkey species has still not debuted along the Maharajah Jungle Trek.
Flights of Wonder
We keep waiting for them to finish the coverings added to the Caravan Theater, but it may just be finished and unfortunately this is what the roof looks like.
Tree of Life Trails
Work continues on the trail behind the Tree of Life. This has to be opening soon, right?
Additional Guest Relations
Disney is testing out a second guest relations location near Kilimanjaro Safaris for a limited time.
This and That
I was feeling artsy with my glazed almonds. Alright, I’m just trying to be EasyWDW I guess.
Vinylmation Designer Series 2 was recently released.
Prepackaged iPhone 7 and 7 Plus phone cases are slowly appearing in the parks.
A new snowman antenna topper is available as well.
UPDATE: Male Guest Arrested for Attempting to Bring Loaded Firearm into Epcot, Walt Disney World
A Louisiana Man attempted to bring a loaded firearm into the Epcot theme park on Monday, according to reports.
The weapon was found at the security check point at the entrance to the park, prior to the metal detector area. The man disclosed he had a gun on him prior to being screened. The loaded Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 Automatic was found in a case underneath a jacket tied around Michael Langston of Abita Springs, LA.
The deputy wrote in the arrest report that Langston had no plans to declare his weapon to authorities and planned to bring the loaded weapon into the park. The man was arrested as he was in procession of a concealed firearm with no permit.
Our earlier report claiming the incident took place at Animal Kingdom was incorrect and was based on early inside information shared between cast members.
