PHOTOS: Stitch’s Alien Encounter Character Greeting Opens Replacing Great Escape at Magic Kingdom

When a sign mysteriously popped up at the former Stitch’s Great Escape at the Magic Kingdom, we speculated that the new Alien Encounter Character Greeting would temporarily replace the often-panned Tomorrowland attraction. Well, today, that new experience opened to guests.

Stitch’s Alien Encounter Character Greeting uses the queue from Great Escape, eventually leading to a character meet and greet with Stitch in the first preview room.

Guests exit back through the entry area, so the meet and greet utilizes no other space from the Attraction beyond the first pre-show room.

Stitch’s Alien Encounter Character Greeting opened today at 10:30am and closes at 7pm. Hours may fluctuate based on the day.

Disney is stating that Stitch’s Great Escape will still operate seasonally and is not closed for good as of yet.

REVIEW: New Pineapple Dole Whip Upside Down Cake at Aloha Isle, Magic Kingdom

A new treat has debuted over at Aloha Isle in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom for those who love Pineapple Dole Whip! Disney has started selling a delicious Pineapple Upside Down Cake topped with Pineapple Dole Whip…

 width=

Pineapple Upside Down Cake with Pineapple Dole Whip ($6.49)

 width=

This delicious dessert features the world famous Pineapple Dole Whip that you’ve been able to get at Aloha Isle for years on top of a fluffy, doughnut-like cake that is glazed with pieces of pineapple and maraschino cherry slices.

It’s sweet, but not as sweet as the Dole Whip Float. The cake isn’t served very hot as to keep the Dole Whip intact, but overall it’s a nice new way to enjoy a Magic Kingdom classic.

The one downside as of writing this review is that you can’t mobile order this item as it has not been added to the app as of yet.

Paint the Night Electrical Parade Return Set For “Summer 2018”, PIXAR Fest

At the D23 Expo 2017, Disney announced that Paint the Night would return in 2018 at the Disneyland Resort. As of today, the parade is not slated to debut at California Adventure until Summer 2018.

 width=

Next Summer, Disneyland Resort will celebrate PIXAR Fest with the new PIXAR Pier area at California Adventure, the move of the PIXAR Play Parade to Disneyland Park, and a PIXAR fireworks spectacular over Sleeping Beauty Castle. Paint the Night will add a PIXAR-themed float (rumored to be Inside Out) when it returns, now performing during the evenings at Disney California Adventure.

Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced a return for Paint the Night at the D23 Expo in July. The parade has not performed since January 2017.

The long period of darkness for the parade is by design, being used to build up excitement for the 2018 Summer season, a last push to bring in visitors that might have held out on a trip before Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in 2019. Rumors also persist that World of Color will go dark next Summer for a massive refurbishment and overhaul while Paint the Night fills-in at DCA.

Disney World Possibly Adding New Resort Room Features: Fireworks Live Stream, PhotoPass Display, Interactive Movies, ETC.

In an interesting new survey, Walt Disney World is asking guests about their interest in some interactive features that could be added to their Disney Resort room to make the experience more immersive.

 width=

In the survey, Disney asks for feedback on some possible new features such as:

  • A welcome sequence where curtains will open, lights turn on slowly, music plays, and a custom welcome message with your FastPass+ plans for the day appears on the TV.
  • A brief animated video featuring a character of your choice welcoming you to the resort, playing on a screen themed to look like a picture frame.
  • Immersive on-demand movies with choices based on your FastPass+ reservations. Color-changing light bulbs and a star projector would be used to create an experience themed to each movie.
  • Live feed of nighttime spectaculars, bringing live video feeds of the park nighttime spectaculars synchronized to the show’s music to your resort TV.
  • Your PhotoPass pictures from the day displayed on your resort TV.

As always with a survey, some of this may never happen, but it is also just as possible that some of these features will be added to resort room experiences at Walt Disney World in the not-too-distant future.

What do you think? Would you enjoy any of these features?
