REVIEW: Cozy Cone Motel Snacks & More for Cars Land’s Haul-O-Ween Celebration

As part of Haul-O-Ween in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, the Cozy Cone has a bevy of ghoulish-cious treats that will be offered only until October 31st, 2017. We tried them all (of course), and here are our thoughts on these seasonal offerings:

Halloween Churro – $4.50 (Cone 1)

How is it? Well, I’m not the biggest fan of pumpkin flavored snacks nor churros, so I was surprised and delighted when I enjoyed this one. The pumpkin flavor wasn’t overpowering and the churros tasted like it was fresh out of the oven.

“Slow Burnin’ Mac and Cheese Cone” – $8.99 (Cone 3)

“Pasta with spicy red pepper cheese sauce, topped with chili-cheese puffs, served in black cauldron cone”

I wish this would stay all year long, because it is fantastic. A spicy version of the solid Disneyland counter service mac and cheese with a lot more flavor from red pepper cheese sauce. The bread cone wasn’t bad either.

“Spoke-y Cone Macaron” (Cone 4)

A macaron filled with marshmallow buttercream and candy corn.

This is super sweet, but I really enjoyed it, especially when I would find a hidden piece of candy corn in a bite. The marshmallow cream is rather pleasant between the two soft pastry pieces. Personally, this is a must order for me.

Popcone with “Junkyard JamBOOree Mix” – $5.49 (Cone 5)

An optional add-on of M&M’s, candy corn, chocolate covered pretzels, boston baked beans, and ghost quins to any flavor of Popcone offered.

I’m not sure there are many flavors here that would go good with the mix, but butter should be fine. We went for white cheddar, which I also thought was enjoyable.

I really love snack mix and this one was absolutely delightful and a HUGE portion for the price. The Cozy Cone already offers a decent serving of popcorn, but it being mixed with all of these other items makes it much heavier, certainly enough for any family to share. The candy corn was the only item that doesn’t really mix well in a bite with popcorn, but otherwise, everything went together nicely. Again, I wish I could have this all year long.

It’s kind of disappointing that they just offer a sticker pack with the cone cups for you to customize it, but the cone cups also haven’t been available to guests since May 2015, so its a good time to pick them up if you don’t have them.

I’m not going to lie, I did put some thought into buying 5 of these and decorating these like the actual Cozy Cones…

With the NBA Experience on the way, the demolition of DisneyQuest at Disney Springs continues…

We have yet to see any concept art for the NBA Experience, so it is hard to judge what a lot of this demolition work is for exactly and how much of the building is actually staying.

For whatever reason, a number of squares holes have been cut in the building.

The signage facing the outside of Disney Springs has started to come down.

VIDEO: See How to Make and Take Home Your Own Custom Car Card at Test Track, Epcot

As we told you a few days back, guests can now turn their Test Track custom concept vehicle into a card that they can take home at the newly named SIMporium shop at the exit of the ride. We of course had to go try this out, so here’s a video of our experience:

The cards come out to $7.45 with tax (or $5.96 with annual pass holder 20% discount). It’s not the worst souvenir, although I do dislike the ability to make a custom name of your choosing for your car, but I understand that some immature people would take advantage of that. Personally, I think the driver’s license from Tomorrowland Speedway is cooler, but these are a nice way to collect your car design.

Sadly, the cards are not RFID enabled (yet), making them useless other than something you can stare at. The hope is that the cards will become RFID enabled and will actually store your custom concept cars, allowing you to keep bringing back your older designs on later visits to Test Track. Whether or not this will happen, only time can tell.

Not to be outdone by Animal Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort also now has a new Starbucks “You Are Here” mug for sale at the Fiddler, Fifer, and Practical Cafe on Buena Vista Street.

RUMOR: Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout Opening in Early 2019 at Disneyland Paris

We have certainly told you on numerous occasions that Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout would likely be coming to Walt Disney Studios Paris in the near future. Well, it now seems that Disney has settled on a timeframe for the closure of Tower of Terror and the opening of this new attraction.

If the rumors are to be believed, the facade of the Tower of Terror will begin its conversion in March 2018, with the ride closing forever in September 2018. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout would open in March 2019, starting a new MARVEL land for Walt Disney Studios Paris. This would also give Paris a halloween attraction overlay, with Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark operating each Fall.

Again, this is just a rumor at this time, but it seems highly likely.

Captain’s Grille Closes, Yachtsman Steakhouse Adds Breakfast & Lunch Ahead of New Restaurant Opening at Yacht Club

As part of the ongoing renovations of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, a number of dining modifications will be in place over the next month. As part of this project, from October 2nd to November 1st, the Yachtsman Steakhouse will offer casual dining for breakfast and lunch. During this time, a larger selection of hot menu items will be available for dinner at The Market at Ale & Compass as well.

Captain’s Grille at Ariel’s closed forever on September 29th, with the new Ale and Compass Restaurant set to open very soon in the original home of the Captain’s Grille. Don’t worry though, many menu favorites from the Grille are coming back at the new location.

D-Living at Disney Springs Closing for Extended Period

D-Living (one of the themed stores located in the Town Center neighborhood of Disney Springs) will temporarily close at the end of business day on Sunday, October 8 in order to install a new theme.

The location is not expected to reopen until November and will then feature apparel and accessories of an unspecified theme.

The store most recently sold Minnie Mouse Ear Headbands, Spirit Jersey items, and some other random apparel.
