PHOTO REPORT: Epcot 4/29/16 (Circle of Life, Ample Hills Creamery, DVC Lounge, ETC.)

This weekend, I made a quick visit to Epcot and the nearby resorts to see what’s new and exciting, so let’s take a look:

The Circle of Life is back

AMD SO IS THE WALL CARPET!!!!

So, after being closed for two months, nothing was visibly changed. Some have claimed there was a new handicap access ramp installed, but I couldn’t find it. Regardless, nothing that would have taken over two months to complete was actually done.

VIDEO: “Behind The Walls” Look at Epcot’s New Frozen Ride and Meet & Greet

We’ve been waiting seemingly forever to see behind the work walls at Epcot’s Norway pavilion, well, “For the First Time in Forever” we’re getting a look today.

Screen Shot 2016-04-19 at 1.25.15 PM

Starting this Summer, Anna and Elsa will greet guests in the new Royal Sommerhus next door to the existing Norway pavilion, modeled after a traditional Norwegian cabin. Disney today released a video looking behind the walls at the new meet and greet experience, which definitely has more of a World Showcase look to it than that of an animated film:

Of course, Anna, Elsa and their latest-generation Audio-Animatronics co-stars will also welcome guests aboard the new Frozen Ever After boat ride replacing Maelstrom in the Norway pavilion. Passengers on their way to Arendelle’s Winter in Summer Celebration for Queen Elsa will visit the ice palace and hear beloved film tunes plus new lyrics by Oscar-winning “Let It Go” songwriters Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson. Bobby and Kristen were recently interviewed about the attraction during a visit to Epcot:

Frozen Ever After and the Royal Sommerhus will open at Epcot this Summer, but no exact date has been given yet.

VIDEO: Fly to China and Australia in Soarin’ Around the World Preview

Guests will celebrate the U.S. debut of the new Soarin’ Around the World attraction at The Land pavilion this summer. Now with a third Epcot theater, plus new digital screens and projection systems, the expanded attraction takes guests on an exhilarating “flight” above spectacular global landscapes and man-made wonders. (Disney)

Disney today previewed the Soarin’ Around the World attraction, which will of course open this summer at both Disney California Adventure and Epcot. The following video showcases short clips of the China and Australia segments of the attraction that guests may be flying over:

At Epcot, the attraction will be presented in a digital film format with crystal clear imagery for the very first time, and the addition of a third theater for the attraction should shorten wait times for guests. The attraction will open to guests June 17th at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, the same day it opens at Shanghai Disney Resort.

Walt Disney World Testing “Upcharge” Premium Parking at Theme Parks

I’ve always been surprised that Walt Disney World never offered any sort of premium parking at their theme parks for those interested, but it looks like they will finally at least test the concept next week.

Disney-World-Magic-Kingdom

Beginning March 15th and lasting for just a few days, guests parking at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot will have the option of paying for a premium parking space closer to the park entrance (or at least a monorail or ferryboat). The charge for the premium parking is $15 above the regular $20 charge. There is no word yet on what the charge will be for resort guests or annual passholders, but we would assume that they would pay just $15 since they are already offered complimentary regular parking.

The exact locations of the premium spaces are unknown at this time.
