REVIEW: New Citrus Swirl & Orange Soda Float Surfaces at the Magic Kingdom

Many guests love a Citrus Swirl, so why does only the Dole Whip get to have a delicious float? Well, the Citrus Swirl doesn’t have to feel forgotten any longer…

Now being served at the Sunshine Tree Terrace, guests will find the Little Orange Bird is whipping up something new: a combination of the Citrus Swirl and Fanta Orange Soda.

Citrus Swirl Float ($5.29)

Orange and vanilla ice cream over orange soda may not sound great if you aren’t a big soda fan, but this is a real winner. The mix of the two turns the soda to a delicious orange-creamsicle flavor, but on top of that you also have the much-loved classic Citrus Swirl.

It’s tangy, refreshing, and unique, a nice diversion from the usual Adventureland floats with pineapple juice. If you enjoy this treat on its own, we highly suggest you give this float version a try on your next visit to the Magic Kingdom!

UPDATE: Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World Will Likely Re-Open Next Week

Since even before Hurricane Irma struck, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at the Walt Disney World Resort has been closed for the safety of guests, and now for the clean up of the area. For whatever reason, there are fake-news articles plastered all over the Internet claiming the Resort will never reopen. Almost needless to say, the resort will indeed reopen, likely next week according to Disney cast members.

As of right now, Disney is eyeing Monday for the reopening of the Resort and Campground area but has yet to make any statement on a re-opening date.

Fort Wilderness isn’t the only Walt Disney World offering still closed thanks to storm damage, with Typhoon Lagoon, the Walt Disney World Railroad, Kali River Rapids, and The Jungle Cruise still shuttered as of this story’s publication.

VIDEO: Imagineers Go Behind The Scenes on Slinky Dog Dash Ride Vehicles

Disney has shared a video that offers a behind the scenes look at bringing the Slinky Dog Dash ride to life.

From the Parks Blog:

Earlier this month, we shared the exciting news that the first ride vehicle for Slinky Dog Dash, one of two major attractions planned for Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, has arrived at the park.

The ride vehicle, which is themed after the character of Slinky from “Toy Story,” took Imagineers from multiple disciplines a few years to design, so the group was thrilled to see the finished product arrive on the site firsthand. According to the Imagineers, the vehicle was created to reflect Slinky’s personality, the movement and motion of a Slinky toy, and of course Slinky’s adorable look which will be visible throughout the land as the coaster moves along the track.

“This is a ride for the whole family: it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, but it’s not scary,” said Imagineer Bob Vignec. “It’s a rollercoaster, but it’s also this fun character that will be out in the land. You sort of get a little bit of goosebumps seeing it here for the first time.”

Also debuting today inside Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a preview of the upcoming “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” attraction, replacing the Great Movie Ride inside of the Chinese Theater.

Most of the display just shows scenes from the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

For those worried the ride would be only projection-based, here is an Imagineer working on what appears to be a maquette of a set of audio-animatronic Mickey and Minnie figures inside of a car, just like on the attraction poster.

Today, a small piece of the large model for Star wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios debuted in the Walt Disney Presents exhibit.

The model piece isn’t really very different from the larger, full model we saw of the Disneyland project back at the D23 Expo. Both lands will be very similar, with only a few small differences.

ANALYSIS: Calculate How Much You’ll Spend at Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

 width=

Like many of you, I look forward to the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival every year. Every year that I go, I try to sample at least one item from every booth. Right now I’m in the middle of planning my upcoming trip for WDWNT Tencennial Celebration and Epcot’s 35th, so I decided to create a tool in the form of a spreadsheet to help me forecast my expenses at the festival this year. After completing the spreadsheet, I thought I would share the sheet with our readers so that you can use it too. It is a Google Sheet so you need to have a Google account to use it.

Click here to copy the Google Sheet to your own Google Drive. This link will make a copy of the master spreadsheet in your own Google Drive so you can edit it and save your changes for future reference.

The spreadsheet calculates the total price automatically as you update what items and how many you want in the “Number to Order” column. You can also click the “Reset” button at the top to reset all of the items to zero.

Using this spreadsheet, you can quickly figure out fun things like:

  • Ordering one of every item at each booth will cost you $1,324.05 plus tax (if you utilize flights instead of individual wines and beers when available).
  • Ordering one item from every booth will cost a minimum of $137.50 plus tax (assuming you order the least expensive item).

I hope this sheet is helpful to you and if you want to see more of these types of tools, please let us know in the comment section below!

PHOTO: Baseline Tap House Sign Unveiled At Grand Avenue

We made our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out changes and progress today noticed that the sign for the Baseline Tap House has gone up on Grand Avenue. Check it out below!

Since the bar and lounge is supposed to be an abandoned print shop with ties to the Walt Disney Studios, the sign features individual letter slugs like would be used in printing.
