WDW Annual Passholders To Receive RFID-Enabled Tickets Starting March 20th

Beginning March 20, all new and renewal Annual Pass purchases will be issued an RFID-enabled cards. All will have the green background, but feature a colored stripe to designate parking privileges.

Between March 20th and May 19th, current Annual Passholders may visit then Odyssey Center at Epcot during regular park hours to have their pass converted to the new, hard plastic ticket. The new tickets will function in existing FastPass machines as they still possess a magnetic strip on the back. As well, these new passes can enter the park via the old or new entrance methods, putting the ticket into the machine or by tapping the new touch-points.

So while Annual Passholders may not be getting a MagicBand anytime soon, they will have the modern conveniences of an RFID-enabled ticket.

Annual Passholder Fantasy Faire Preview Announced!

Annual Passholder preview dates for Fantasy Faire have been announced on the Disneyland Passholder site.

Fantasy Faire, a fascinating new world within Fantasyland, will open March 12, 2013. As an Annual Passholder, you are invited to preview this new attraction before the big day.

Space is limited for this event, but with your valid Passport, you could experience this land of enchantment before it opens to the general public.

Enter Fantasy Faire and step into a “once upon a time” storybook village square surrounded by charming cottages. Here, Disney fairy tales come to life, Disney friends from timeless tales are eager to meet you and “happily ever after” happens every day.

With Limited Time Annual Passholder Magic, Annual Passholders have exciting opportunities, offers and events like this:

Fantasy Faire in Fantasyland at the Disneyland Park

Event Time

12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Registration is limited to a 2-hour entry time period within the event time.

Event Registration and Wristband Distribution

At 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event, Annual Passholders may begin registering inside the entrance to Frontierland, next to Westward Ho, in the Disneyland Park.

All participating Guests (ages 3 and older) must be valid Annual Passholders on the day of the event.

Registration must be completed in person at the entrance to Frontierland on the day of the event only; no phone reservations or other registration will be accepted.

It is recommended that all members of your party register together.

All participating Annual Passholders must present their active Annual Passport to the event Cast Member, who will check event availability. Photo ID may be required.

Wristbands

Once an Annual Passholder has presented a valid Annual Passport and event availability has been confirmed, the Annual Passholder will be registered for the event and will receive a color-coded event wristband for the assigned entry time period.

Event wristbands are required for admission to the event and are only valid for a specified time during that day’s event.

Space is limited. Registration and distribution of event wristbands are based on availability.

Wristbands may not be sold or transferred for commercial purposes and have no cash value.

Exclusive Showings of World of Color for Passholders

We’ve added two performances of “World of Color,” just for annual passholders this week. Annual passholders have a unique opportunity to see the nighttime water spectacular at Disney California Adventure park at 9:15 p.m. on September 15 and 16. Guests who are not annual passholders can still see the regularly scheduled show at 8:15 p.m. on both nights.

We heard from a lot of annual passholders that it’s difficult to visit the Park in the mornings and obtain a Disney FASTPASS ticket, so this is a special opportunity just for annual passholders.

Here are the details:

Disney FASTPASS ticket distribution will begin at 5 p.m. at the Grizzly River Run FASTPASS location.

A valid Annual Passport must be presented to obtain a Disney FASTPASS ticket.

Disney FASTPASS tickets are limited and are subject to availability.

Annual passholders with a Disney FASTPASS ticket need to be in Disney California Adventure park prior to park close at 8:00 p.m. on the day of show and will need to queue beginning at 8:45 p.m.

In addition to a special showing of “World of Color,” passholders will have the following attractions available to them from 8 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.:

Mulholland’s Madness

Flik’s Fun Fair

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Annual Passholders without a FASTPASS ticket will be accommodated if space is still available in the alternate viewing area.

Celebrate Mr. Lincoln’s Return

In a major press release, Disneyland has announced that Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln will return before the end of 2009 with a revamped show, the Disney Gallery will open where the Bank of Main Street now stands, and Annual Passport processing will move to the Plaza Pavilion later this year. Here is the announcement:

ANAHEIM, Calif. (February 25, 2009) – A longtime favorite of Disneyland guests will return as “The Disneyland Story, featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln,” an enhanced version of the show which appeared, in various forms, in the Main Street Opera House at Disneyland park from 1966 through 2004 . The attraction will reopen later this year in celebration of the 200th anniversary year of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

The current Opera House presentation, “Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years,” will go on hiatus beginning Monday, March 16, in preparation for the new “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” show. When the updated “Disneyland Story, featuring Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” opens later this year, “Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years” will be presented as part of the “Disneyland Story” display of art, models and mementoes in the Opera House lobby.

Also planned for fall 2009 is a prominent new home on Main Street, U.S.A., for The Disney Gallery. Formerly located above Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square, The Disney Gallery houses treasured Disney artwork and collectibles representing creative efforts from throughout The Walt Disney Company. A frequently changing exhibit area often includes never-before-displayed art. The Disney Gallery’s new home will be in the Bank of Main Street building, located next door to the Main Street Opera House and currently serving as the headquarters for Disneyland Resort Annual Passport processing. The Bank will continue to operate as an Annual Passport center until mid-summer 2009. After that, Annual Passport processing will move to the Plaza Pavilion, near the entrance to Adventureland.

The original “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” was created by Walt Disney and his Imagineers for the State of Illinois Pavilion at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and featured the world’s first fully animated human Audio-Animatronics figure, built by Walt Disney Imagineering. The show, made its Disneyland debut in the Main Street Opera House on July 18, 1965.

It’s a Small World AP Previews

Join us for a special preview of the newly enhanced “it’s a small world” before the official reopening! Dubbed “the happiest cruise that ever sailed the world” at the New York World’s Fair 45 years ago, “it’s a small world” takes you on a joyful boat ride as memorable as the delightful song that serenades you on your journey.

This classic attraction has been renovated, adding new places as well as familiar faces. Be sure to look for some of the “it’s a small world” dolls dressed up as some of your favorite Disney characters in the countries where those stories take place!
