Bakery Vinylmation Served up on a Platter

Nick dropped by D-Street Florida today and got some great shots of the Bakery Series coming out tomorrow. They look so yummy!

Nick also got a shot of the poster that confirms the price as $11.95. Whohoo!

Which one is your favorite?

Bakery Explained

Update: Price now confirmed by photo of poster at D-Street!!

Update: 6/1/11 On Facebook, Kevin from CA, confirmed a price tag of $11.95. We assume that the price will be the same here in Florida. Once we get visual confirmation, we’ll let ya know! This is cheaper then I expected with all the extra vinyl, what do you think of the price tag??

Update: 5/19/11 Disney has announced a release date of June 3 at D-Street FL and CA. They also released pictures and an exciting reveal.

As some people have predicted, the icing is removable revealing the character’s head inside. Right now, we only have a picture of the Mickey with icing off, but they also released pictures of Cheshire Cat and Tinkerbell (see below). This set will be sold in open window boxes and was changed from being limited edition to an open ended production number.
Open Window Box Bakery Series

Update: 4/20/11 While looking at the Disney Vinylmation Vault today I noticed that they added Bakery to the list. This usually means that it’s out already, or that it’s really close to release. What do you think? Might it be out in a foreign Disneyland or will we get a surprise on Friday? Also we now know the artist is Susan Foy.

Update: 4/9/11 After a discussion in line at D-Street we pondered if the icing would be removable. Check out the discussion at Cute on the Inside?

4/7/11 How awesome is this? Today Disney added a sneak preview of the Bakery set to their Sneak page. And get this, The Mickey, Minnie, and Cheshire Cat look exactly like MC artistically rendered! First, they were cupcakes with frosting, like we imaged, and then they look very very similar! So check out the whole set, designed by Susan Foy, and let us know what you think!

Mickey Cupcake

Straightforward, but kinda cool. We don’t have many straight forward Mickey heads, so this will be nice.

Minnie Cupcake

Also simple in design, but perfect in execution!

Cheshire Cat Cupcake

Purple stripes, with little tuffs of hair at the top. (Hair in a cupcake? ewwwww) Look at that signature big grin! Nice and colorful… great looking piece. “Makes me want a real Cheshire Cat figure.” – Nick

Marie Cupcake

“Lots more detail here, but I surprisingly am starting to like this Bakery set.” – M.C.
“Like the paw prints, but another Marie design?” – Nick

Tinkerbell Cupcake

I wonder how shinny the glitter is? A very Tink design, the wink is a nice touch. “This is why Princesses are going to be a problem, the head is just to fat for Tink’s look and she looks boyish to me.” – Nick

Confetti Mickeys Cupcake

“Wow, a fail for the final one. Why not do another character? Donald? Snow White?” – M.C. (before removal of icing) “Great surprise underneath! Like the facial expression.” – Nick

Open Window Box Baker Series

Cupcakes with Cute Filling?

The bakery series. A group of us were talking at D-Street yesterday, while we waiting for the Duck Tales release, and the topic of the bakery series came up. We discussed the frosting and how much larger it seemed then the actual vinylmation. We projected that this frosting might be an additional piece, similar to Buzz Lightyear’s helmet.

We also noticed the tuffs of hair in the ears of Cheshire Cat Cupcake, and the ears in the ears of Marie Cupcake. A nice woman from Eustis suggested the following, “Maybe the frosting comes off to reveal a character painted on the actual vinylmation on the inside!” That would be awesome, and make the bakery set a must have in my book.

What do you think? Do you think the frosting will be plastic? Removable? Scratch and sniff? Let us know.

Can You Smell What the Disney is Cooking?

Update: 3/7/11 11:30 PM A Pin collection that resembles this series (but isn’t called Bakery) surfaced. See farther down this post for analysis.
Update: 3/7/11 We enjoyed drawing up the mock versions of the two Mouse cupcakes, that we wanted to try another. This is the only other one we are positive about.

2/8/11 While searching around the videos on the Disney Vinylmation event page we ran across another interesting reveal (if you’ve been following us, you’ll know that this is not the first reveal from those videos found this week). Once again, thanks to @KevinVinyl24 for suggesting we take a second, closer look at them.

On the left is the poster we are basing everything on. It looks like the Bakery series will be a combination of styles from the Juniors 2 series and the Cupcake from Cutesters 1.
The design seems to represent an ice cream swirl or cupcake with a swirl of frosting on top.
The coloring is based on each character’s iconic clothing. So far it looks like we have Mickey, Minnie, Cheshire Cat, Tinkerbell, Daisy, and Genie… (remember these are all huge, huge, huge, assumptions.)

To the right is what these vinylmations might look like in real life. (The photo is from fancyfriendscakes.com.)

So far, we know nothing else about this series. No artist, no size, no number, no release date. Heck, we barely know what to put in this blog! So look for more info on these in the upcoming month? year?

Update: 3/7/11 We’d like to thank alert reader Purdy who left a comment that lead us to a picture of a new pin set that is coming out on 3/10/11. While not called “Bakery” (it’s called Character Cupcakes) the series shows us characters as cupcakes. There are slight design changes (like the placement of Mickey’s buttons) but it’s another good starting point for imagining what this vinylmation series might look like!

I think it’s an interesting set, but I’m starting to get over the use of the main Disney characters to make sets. I have the Big Eyes, I don’t need them again, just looking like cupcakes this time.” -M.C.

Yum! I’ll scoop these up right away. I always enjoy artistic representations of Disney characters and themes on Park merchandise. These are a bit Cutesterish to me… but I like the idea. I’d love to see a Jr.’s 2 series but on a more detailed and artistic 3″ scale. But in the mean time… I’ll save room (on my shelf) for these desserts” -Nick

Does this look like a set will want to add to your collection? Do you think the poster represents other characters? Let us know with a comment!
