Spotlight On: Celeste’s Disney Afternoon Villains Series 1

We have followed Celeste’s work for a long time now, and she is debuting a brand new custom series this weekend that we wanted to take a closer look at. Celeste sent us a few words about her latest creations.

“Growing up as a kid of the 90’s I personally have always been a huge fan of The Disney Afternoon. Especially villains and creating a counterpart set was an idea I wanted to do since the release of the very first afternoon set by Disney.”

“The Villains of the Afternoon series, features some of the most iconic Disney Afternoon villains ranging from Gummi Bears to Talespin. The set includes a total of 16 figures with 1 mystery chaser. For the set I wanted to incorporate a wide cast of characters and personalities including some I thought who deserved their own vinyl. At first it was a bit difficult to choose who would be included in the set since there are so many great characters out there to choose from but ultimately I wanted a diverse set fans might enjoy.”

The set will be available for purchase this Saturday July 27 at 8pm PST at her online store. (price TBD) http://celestescustomarttoys.bigcartel.com/products

You can always check out more of my work and more info about the set on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/celestecustomvinylmations

Spotlight On: Celeste’s Wonder Woman, Genie, Tokidoki

We noticed a few new customs from our friend Celeste and we asked her to share them with us. Here’s what she said. (“Her Wonder Woman piece is amazing. I love the details, including the lasso!”-MC)

“I’d thought I share a few customs I’ve been working on for the last few months. First is Wonder Woman, she was made as a Christmas present for a very special gal. When finally revealed I was overjoyed by the wonderful response from everyone.

Another favorite I had the pleasure of creating is a Tokidoki inspired custom and I loved how this came out.

A new series I hope to finish over the next month or so is series 2 of light up customs. The first series was all princesses and the second one I’m calling “Spellbound”, and it will be a magic based theme. It will include some of the most famous and infamous characters. Here’s a sneak peek of one of the figures that will be included in the series, Genie!!

Thanks for having me and you can always check out my fb for more customs @ facebook.com/pages/Celeste-Custom-Vinylmations/253094558053568

Celeste, we can’t wait until you complete the light up series. It looks amazing!

Celeste Offers New Custom Blind Box Spellbound Series

Destination Vinylmation: What is the Spellbound set?
Celeste: The Spellbound series is a magical based theme consisting of magic users and mystical creatures. It includes Genie, Merlin, Malecifent, Evil Queen, two versions of Tinker Bell, Blue Fairy, Chernabog, Mushu, Figment, Old Hag, Ursula and the Cheshire cat.

DV: How did you choose the characters to include in this set?
Celeste: It actually was a difficult and involving process to choose who will be included in the set. There are alot of great magical characters out there and I wished I could of made them all, but after weeks of figuring it all out I choose the ones I thought would best balance out the set.

DV: Half the figures in the set are female characters. Many times, when an artist attempts to translate the female form onto the Mickey platform, it comes across as “chubby”. Yours seem perfect. Can you share some tips for other custom artists? Is it all about proportion? Placement?
Celeste: Female characters are always tough to design on the mold itself. But you are correct, for me personally it is about proportion and placement of facial features and if the character has hair it does help out in the design of it all. I personally think they are always going to be slight chubby regardless of how you design them but a little pudginess adds a cute factor into it so I have no complaints about it lol.

DV: How will this series be sold?
Celeste: The Spellbound Series will go live this Friday Feb. 8th at 8pm (PST) It will be sold as individual blind boxes. The series includes 12 figures and 1 variant which will be a total of 13 figures. Each blind box is priced at $70 shipped in the U.S only. There will be a limit of 1 per person. You will be able to purchase them on my website here.

You can always check out more pics of them and other customs on my Facebook page.

Spotlight On: Celeste’s Candy Bowl Vinylmation

The candy bowl series started when I first created a mickey bowl for the blind bag series and after so many great responses I figured why stop there, so I decided to create a few more for Halloween. It’s a take on the old Halloween gag hand in the candy bowl but with some twists to them. The hand and candies are sculpted and attached to the figure so I don’t recommend trying to eat them. Hopefully as Halloween nears closer I will able to make a few more different ones. I am also having a giveaway of a bowl, not a candy bowl but of a noodle bowl lol. So what do have to do? Just like my Facebook page and comment “I’m hungry” and you’ll be entered to win. The giveaway will end Friday, September 21. Thanks so much and it’s always a pleasure!

What Disney Sidekick did you choose?
Booster Munchapper!

Why did you choose that sidekick?
It wasn’t a easy choice but I wanted to choose a character that’s not too obscure but would look cool on a vinyl and I chose to go with Booster Munchapper from the animated series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. So now Buzz has a sidekick he can roam the universe with!

Favorite Disney Movie?
So many great films out there but Beauty and the Beast would be considered my favorite Disney movie.

Favorite Disney Theme Park Attraction?
Every time I visit Disneyland I have to always ride Peter Pan’s Flight at least once.

Favorite aspect of working on the Mickey shaped canvas?
I would have to say that my favorite part when working on a Vinylmation is coming up with designs that best suits the shape.

How to purchase: The price of one blind box is $65, including shipping within the US. We’re looking into international shipping right now, but it will probably be another $5-10 if it works out.Paypal is going to be the accepted payment. It is limited to one household per blind box.

What you get: You will get one blind box (yes, I’m actually making boxes) with one of 24 different figures. Some figures come with accessories. You will also get 11 different cards, 1 from each artist.

Celeste Custom Vinylmation Giveaway

Our friend, custom artist Celeste, made an announcement on her Facebook page she would like to share with you! Celeste is giving away a one of a kind 3″ White Rabbit! He comes with his own trumpet accessory.

All you have to do is become a fan of her Facebook page AND leave a comment… that’s it.

The deadline to join is Midnight (Pacific) Saturday May 5 on Cinco De Mayo. This custom looks great! Now while we are on the subject of Celeste, I saw a custom piece on her Facebook page that she recently finished for a customer. A reminder, the following figure is NOT part of the giveaway.

Super cool! A 3″ Maleficent with Jr. Diablo sitting atop a custom staff. The best part… well, besides the amazing artwork… a magnetic orb on Maleficent’s staff holds Diablo perched up there so the bird is easily detachable! Great job Celeste.

Celeste continues to amaze us with her customs. This Steamboat Willie trio is no different.

Destination Vinylmation: You went way back in Disney History for this one. How did you decided on a Stemboat Willie?
Celeste: It was a commission I did for a Vinylnation member.

DV: Did he commission the whole three piece combo?
Celeste: He originally wanted just Steamboat Willie and a billy goat which was great but I wanted to go a little further and make a diorama for Steamboat Willie to honor the classic film. Each figure was made to be matched to the already released steamboat Pete figure. Hopefully I did it justice.

DV: Um, yes. I would say so. But you didn’t stop with the figures, you made a whole set!
Celeste: The base and crate was made from scratch using woooden blocks and dowels, the helm and crates are movable so that it is possible to pose the Vinylmation. I really had fun with this custom and I loved how everything came out and fall into place.

Thanks so much to the member who wanted him created I always have fun with creating customs for others and giving them a great home.

We here at Destination Vinylmation can be a great home for this Stay Puff Marshmallow Man! That is Celeste’s most recent custom post. For more Celeste customs, visit http://celestecustomvinylmations.blogspot.com/

Destination Vinylmation: You recently created a Vinylmation for a contest at Vinylmation Kingdom that was designed by a reader to their website. Can you tell us about it?
Celeste: The winning design was Percy, the dog from Pocahontas, designed by Abraham Mendoza. I had a great time creating him and added an accessory bell to give it personal touch.

DV: What was the hardest part about creating him?
Celeste: The most difficult process is always finding a way to fit a 2-D design or an idea onto a 3-D canvas or vinyl.

DV: How long did it take to make Percy.
Celeste: It took the better part of a week to complete due to work and the past thanksgiving holiday and shopping lol.

DV: Looking at your website, you create a ton of customs, what is the appeal for you?
Celeste: I always have fun creating each one and every single vinyl is a new and challenging process.Knowing that one of my custom pieces found a new home is something that I am truly grateful for.

DV: So what are you working on right now?
Celeste: I just finished a heroes and villains series, it features some of my favorite characters that I thought deserved their own vinyls. The set consists of Li Shang from Mulan, Clayton from Tarzan, Flynn Ryder from Tangled w/Jr Pascal, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast, John Smith w/Jr Meeko from Pocahontas and Hercules w/ Jr.Pegasus.

I’m also making a few canvas works with Jrs included on them as a request.here are some past canvas meets vinyl work.

DV: Please remind people where to find your work or contact you.
Celeste: You can find more past works on my website at http://celestecustomvinylmations.blogspot.com/
or my facebook page at Celeste Custom Vinylmations.

DV: As always, it’s great seeing your work.
Celeste: Thanks so much for the opportunity to be featured on Destination Vinylmation. It is always a pleasure.

Celeste has a great looking Bambi 9″ and Thumper 3″ to share with everyone.

Bambi has flowers on the bottom of the foot from front to back and has butterflies and birds all around him to mimic the classic scene from the film.

The reason I wanted to make him and Thumper was that I thought he should of deserved his own vinyl and Bambi was one of my favorite films since I was a kid and continues to be.

I wanted Thumper also to be included with Bambi to complete the set as a whole, hopefully I did them justice.
