Park Starz Preview DROPS Into D-Street

Zoe was walking by the Vinylmation display at D-Street Anaheim today when she spotted this little guy…

It is a Tower of Terror Bellhop in what appears to be the form of a Park Starz. Presumable a design for the Park Starz series 2 (no release date yet). He has a bellhop hat and is holding a suit case. I love him! How exciting is it to get a glimpse into a Future Park Starz series! The idea to go with a ghostly figure over that of a human is a great choice. I’d expect to see Series 2 this fall or winter, in the mean time take a look back at Park Starz Series 1: Explained page and Photoshoot at WDW.

Furry Friends hitting the parks in February

Today vinylmation.com announced that Furry Friends would not be in WDW or DLR on the 9th, but instead the release has been moved to February. Now we weren’t even aware they were supposed to be in the parks at that time, so we aren’t too disappointed. Who’s looking to get these?

Disney Tunes Create Music with D-Streets

Originally, they were only available in Disney Stores, but on March 23rd the Tunes collection will be headed for D-Streets Florida and California. Well, the four that we’ve actually seen so far. Donald and Dale are still missing. Daisy, Goofy, Mickey, and Stitch will all be open boxed and cost $12.95 each.

Quick note: The price is as reported from the vinylmation.com. Originally these figures cost $9.95. The box has $9.95 printed on it, so I think it might be a typo on Disney’s part.

M.C. Rescues Some D-Street Releases

M.C. braved the rain to hit up D-Street today. Let’s see what he found…

Rescuers 2-Pack with Bernard and Bianca from Animation 2 for $26.95. He was excited enough to wake up early and go grab these. I enjoy the design, but not enough to grab them. Especially since I never really had a connection to this movie. No real line reported and plenty of the 2-pack still left. We will probably see them for sale at tonight’s trading event at the Contemporary.

Junior 5 also officially released today. M.C. grabbed some chaser shots. Oddly enough, they were out in the open in the display.

Smoke and Mirrors. Love this one! Looks like Junior 5 is giving us the first clear part Jrs. The smoke is actually painted onto a clear head and body.

Peanut Butter and Jelly. Don’t like as much, but a cool use of a clear purple bottom.

Also today, the 3″ Valentine’s Day figure was out in the stores. This is a very lovely display.

Release Day! A New 9″ Park 7 Revealed and New Years On Sale

Today was a big release day at D-Streets and the parks. First, 9″ Park 7 Goofy River Country went on sale and a look at the back of the box showed us the four 9″ LE figures for Park 7.

MK 7 Adventures, Goofy River Country and 2 Main Street Electrical Parade figures. All figures are LE 1500. Not surprising there are only four with Disney’s announcement of more types of LE sets besides 9″ and 9/3 combos. We had seen 3 of these at The Florida Project, but the new one was a second Main St. Electrical Parade design featuring the train.

The train is one of the most recognizable floats in the parade because it carries the sign of the name of the parade.

The back will be interesting. Do they take an artistic approach and paint the sign on? Or just more lights like its the rear of the train going by? As I said, we saw the other figures at The Florida Project.

9″ Park 7 Main Street Electrical Parade Dragon
9″ Magic Kingdom 7 Adventures Retro Ticket Book

Also released today was the 3″/3″ Horse and Trolley combo that celebrates a Magic Kingdom Main Street USA staple.

It is for sale behind the D-Street counter… and also at the Emporium inside MK where our friend Chris took the above picture. 9″ Urban 8 figures The Boxer, Fish Bites, 50’s Girl and Sabertooth also made their debut today.

And in a semi-surprise the 4 open window New Years 2012 Vinylmation hit the shelves. We knew they would be released in early January, just not specifically today. They can be found at D-Street and throughout the parks.
Here is a look at the individual figures. The hat looks like a hard plastic accessory. If you bought them, let us know if it comes off and whats underneath!

Did you/will you add any of today’s releases to your collection?

ZoMG: The New D-Street Anaheim Window Decorations!

Walking through Downtown Disney the other night I noticed something different about the D-Street window. Disney finally decided to change it up and I absolutely love it.

I was surprised because I had no idea that a change was coming but it looks great!

Overall the window is fun and somewhat interactive. There are Vinylmation ALL OVER this window display. Vinylmation hanging at the very top of the window, some trying to paint the large create your own placed in the center of the window, and some just hanging around in boxes and lights.

I like this idea because every time you take a look at the window you notice something new.

To get the BEST overall look at the new D-Street window, I recommend stopping by at night.

I recommend this because during the day it still looks great but at night, the window is lit up and there are a few lighting surprises throughout the window that you don’t notice during the day!

With that said, next time you are at D-Street in California, make sure you take a peek at the new D-Street window display!

You might even find a hidden upcoming figure or two!

Here are a few more scenes from the window.

Line at D-Street Orlando

Update: 3 PM According to reader Shaun, everyone in line at the Florida D-Street got one, but then they sold out almost immediately afterwards. So congrats to the line! (Boy was it hot out there!)

By many counts, it is possible not everyone in line will get a Rescue Ranger Vinylmation that was released today.

Villains Invading D-Streets 5/6/11

It looks like the Disney Stores couldn’t keep the evil Villains contained. Now it seems that they will be taking over both D-Street stores on May 6th. They even got the California Store to open at 8 AM!

D-Street Florida Artist Signing 4/15/11

As part of D-Street’s 1st Birthday, Artists Maria Clapsis, Eric Caszatt, Casey Jones, and Doug Strayer were on hand to sign Vinylmation. Right off the bat we’d like to thank them for the time they took out of their weekend to come to D-Street to celebrate it’s birthday. It means a lot to your fans that you are willing to come out to sign stuff and talk to us. Thanks!

Maria Clapsis

Maria has designed A LOT of Vinylmation recently and has plenty on the horizon. Most recently, she designed Cutesters Too. But my favorite is Sonny Eclipse. This was instantly my favorite 3″ Vinylmation ever made. She said she just HAD to design this one and get it into a series.
Eric Caszatt

Eric signed my Urban 6 Side Mickey. He says “this is the weirdest figure I ever designed.” Eric says Tron ranks among his personal favorite designs. Saying the art was very intricate and he is happy with the final outcome. He remarked that the art had to go back for a few redesigns to get it just right on the 3D figure.

Casey Jones

Casey says his favorite still has to be Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas set (Casey designed the entire set). Today, he signed my Park 6 Norway Troll. Casey says a lot of great Vinylmation are coming up and he is excited about his Haunted Mansion series (release date TBA).
Doug Strayer

Doug recently designed Green Thumb and Sumo from Urban 6. He is also the artist behind the popular Nerds Rock! series. I asked him about the glasses. He says they were always intended to be accessories. In fact the glasses were meant for a different series (unnamed) but then Doug and lead designer Thomas Scott decided Nerds Rock! was the perfect fit. When asked why Stitch was not in the set, Doug told us some magnificent news… read all about it here.

Did anyone else talk to the artists at D-Street Florida this morning? Tell us about your experiences!
