We have seen many different styles of phone case from D Tech at this point, but this marks the very first of this style. It is fully reversible, allowing you to switch between the grey or purple background for the trademark Haunted Mansion wallpaper design.

It can also be set in a kickstand position.

It retails for $39.99, not surprisingly more than the average phone case for sale at the parks. It is available now at multiple locations at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Do you smell that? That’s the smell of new technology in the morning! With the release of the new iPhone 6 imminent (tomorrow as of this writing), fans look for ways to showoff they’re love for Disney and Disney knows that. Announced on the Disney Parks Blog, D-Tech on Demand will begin selling iPhone 6 cases on September 20th at the Co-Op store in Downtown Disney Marketplace. Other locations at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will be added in October. You’ll be able to pick from over 170 designs to customize your new iPhone 6 and Disney even gave us a preview of 3 new designs they’ll be introducing with the launch of the iPhone 6 cases.

For those of you who purchased an iPhone 6 Plus (like myself), we’ll have to hang on just a little longer as they launch of those cases won’t be until later in the Fall.

Star Wars Weekends D-Tech Me Offerings Expanded for 2014

SWD087422-613x631

Star Wars – D-Tech Me has been one of the most talked about merchandise offerings at Star Wars Weekends over the last several years, so it is no surprise that Disney will be adding to the line-up of offerings in 2014. This year, the D-Tech Me location will be located inside Darth’s Mall, located in Soundstage 1 between Studio Backlot Tour and Toy Story Midway Mania.

For those unfamiliar with Star Wars – D-Tech Me, this 10-minute experience uses the world’s highest-resolution, single-shot 3D face scanner created by our Imagineering scientists with Disney Research labs. The captured image is later sent to a high resolution 3D printer to create the figurine.

The existing Carbon-Freeze Me and Stormtrooper programs are returning this year, joined by two new figurines – Alderaan Princess and X-Wing Pilot. There are both male and female options offered for X-Wing pilot, Carbon-Freeze Me and Stormtrooper figurines.

For children, Alderaan Princess and Carbon-Freeze Me figurines will be available in more youthful appearances.

For the first time, a 16-inch figurine will also be available. You can see the size differences of the Stormtrooper figurines in the above image.

Disney is also promising that on May 16 on DisneyParksMerchandise.com they will let guests know how to have their image from last year added to a new figurine this year.

The Star Wars – D-Tech Me 7-inch figurines are $99.95 each, plus shipping and applicable sales tax. For the 16-inch figurines, retail is $1,499.95 each, plus shipping and applicable sales tax. All participants will receive a specially designed button. Completed figurines will arrive within 7-8 weeks after the experience if shipping domestically (it takes a little longer if shipping internationally).

To book your experience, please call 407-WDW-TECH (407-939-8324). Disney will only offer the experience during Star Wars Weekends 2014 (May 16 – 18, May 23 – 25, May 30 – June 1, June 6 – 8, and June 13-15).

Finally, guests attending the Rebel Rendezvous event on May 15 will be some of the first individuals to experience Star Wars – D-Tech Me this year. Registered event guests should look for an email soon that will explain how to sign up.

Vinylmationize Your iPhone

A few days ago, Steven Miller, on the Disney Parks Blog, announced some drop dead amazing retro D-Tech iPhone, iPad and Laptop cases.

So, DV reader David asked Steven about these D-Tech products we saw in the display at The Florida Project:

Vinylmation Laptop Decals and Laptop Sleeve
Vinylmation 3G and 4G iPhone Cases and Laptop Sleeve

Here is Steven’s response:
@David – How timely! We just announced the release date for the four covers – November 11. They feature two different patterns – an all over and a line up. Cases were made for the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 (and they should also work for the iPhone 4S). Each case has a retail of $31.95. Look for them in the following locations:

Disneyland:
D-Street – Downtown Disney District
The Star Trader – Disneyland Park
Off the Page – Disney California Adventure Park

Walt Disney World:
D-Street – Downtown Disney West Side
Emporium – Magic Kingdom Park
MouseGear – Epcot
Beverly Sunset – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Island Mercantile – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park

Thank you David for asking that question of Steven and for sending us the response. These patters have been seen before on other merchandise, but I especially like the iPhone case with the Mystery Chaser figure. That would a great Christmas present for MC! We would also like to point out some possible prices for the Laptop Decals and Sleeves shown in the pictures above. Steven did not give a release date for these spcifically, but the placecard at The Florida Project said December 2011. The sleeves should retail for $26.95 with the decals at $8.95.

More 40th Anniversary Merchandise On The Way?

Disney previewed an upcoming D-Tech product recently that should be arriving at Walt Disney World around October 1st, just in time for the 40th anniversary:

Yes, it is an iPhone 4 case and it will be a limited edition of 1971 pieces. Perhaps the most exciting prospect is that those of us going to Walt Disney World for the 40th anniversary festivities will have some limited edition collectibles to bring home. We can only hope…

You can read the entire post on the Disney Parks Blog, and you can register for WDWCelebrations’ Project XL: The World at 40 if you really want to celebrate the 40th anniversary the proper way.
