Walt Disney World Celebrates 40th Anniversary with Retro Merchandise

WDWNT Reporter Zach Larson brings us our very first photo report of 2011 with a look at all of the new merchandise celebrating Walt Disney World’s 40th anniversary in 2011. According to our sources, there is a lot more where this came from, this is only the first batch of clothes and collectibles hitting shelves this year to mark the milestone:

Pins Move Further “Uptown” at Magic Kingdom

From the “What’s HapPINing Blog” at DisneyPins.com:

It was an early morning for Julie, Jeanne and Sylvie, Product Developers from the Disney Pin Team. They joined members from Magic Kingdom® Park Merchandise to help set a “new” location for Disney pins. We call this location the “Tip Board Cart” as it is located directly across from the tip board at the end of Main Street U.S.A.® toward Cinderella Castle. This “new” location means that we have retired the Uptown Jewelers as a location for pins.

As you can see from the image below, this location contains an assortment of various trading pins and accessories. If you are looking for a larger selection of items, make sure you stop by Frontierland Trading Post in the Frontierland® Area.

Close Up Look

Julie told her and the team arrived around 4:15 a.m. to set the location. It only took a couple of hours to set but we think it looks great. Next time you are in Magic Kingdom® Park, please stop by.

Tom Corless’ 11/7/09 World of Disney New York Report

As we countdown to the closure of the World of Disney New York store on 5th Avenue in New York City, I have been trying to get in as many visits as possible. On Saturday, I made a trip to the store to take part in the final Disney pin trading morning. Here are some photos I managed to take amid the insane crowds:

A Christmas Carol has filled the windows of the store

Walt Disney World: Then and Now

A few weeks ago, we showed you the concept art for a 2010 monthly Walt Disney World pin series called “Then and Now”. The “What’s HapPINing Blog” was updated today with a look at two of the actual pins in the series. From the “What’s HapPINing Blog“:

As a follow up to a preview we presented in August, we received pin samples for the upcoming Walt Disney World® Then & Now series and they look great!

You’ll notice that the “then” side is in a metal finish with no color, and the “now” side is in full color. It’s been great to revisit some of our favorite older attractions in this series and we think the series will be a fun way for Guests to discover the history of the Theme Parks.
