VIDEO: See the Damage Hurricane Irma Caused at Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks

Hurricane Irma passed through Walt Disney World this week, closing the parks for two days and many attractions for even longer. While the parks did reopen yesterday, damage was quite evident at the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as in the Epcot Resort Area. Take a look:

Of course, several Walt Disney World attractions remain closed following the storm.

VIDEO: Sumatran Baby Tiger Cubs Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

On Wednesday, Disney gave us the awesome announcement that Sohni, a Sumatran tiger at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, gave birth to a pair of beautiful tiger cubs, a first in the park’s history.

According to Disney, Sohni and her cubs are bonding very well and are in excellent condition with around-the-clock care. Guests currently can’t see the cubs but don’t worry, in the coming months guests will be able to see Sohni and her cubs on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Check out this adorable video Disney shared with us below.

Baby Tiger Cubs are Coming This August to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

After a recent refurbishment of the enclosure, Disney welcomed two new tigers to the Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom with the idea being to breed them. Well, rather quickly, the female tiger is already expecting and should be delivering some tiger cubs to the park next month.

Here’s the announcement from Disney:

Disney is involved in efforts to save critically endangered Sumatran tigers. To date, the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) has provided nearly $2.5 million to protect tigers and their habitats. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Sumatran tigers Sohni and Malosi have been actively breeding, and we are delighted to announce that Sohni is pregnant and expecting cubs sometime in August.

It is unknown when the cubs might go on display at the park, but it will likely be a few weeks after they are born. The tigers that used to live in the enclosure were moved to a new home permanent outside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Gainesville, FL.

VIDEO: Animal Kingdom Testing Full-Bright Lighting on the Broken Yeti in Expedition Everest

For two weeks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park is testing a new lighting scheme on the long-broken Yeti audio-animatronic figure in Expedition Everest.

For many years, the figure has been illuminated by only a strobe light. During this test, the strobes are still on, but a fairly bright light is also shining on the creature as it did when it was functional.

With Pandora now open, it is expected that the ride will be closed for a period and the Yeti will be fixed, but it is unclear as to when that might happen.

D23 Expo 2017 Rumors – Zootopia Themed-Land Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Since we are only a few weeks removed from the opening of Pandora: The World of AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the imminent announcement of another large project for that park seems unlikely, but nonetheless, the rumor is making the rounds.

The city of Zootopia is big and immersive, perfect for a theme park

If the rumors are to be believed, plans are already in place for another massive themed-land in the park, utilizing the space that is Rafiki’s Planet Watch, as well as the unused plot of land meant for the larger Tiger River Rapids attraction (before it was budget cut and made Kali River Rapids, opening in 1999). The land would reportedly be the city of Zootopia from the hit 2016 film of the same name.

While details are vague, the main idea seems to be to reutilize the track from the Wildlife Express train for the commuter train seen in the film, transporting guests aboard a screen-based experience into Zootopia the same way Judy Hopps arrives. Otherwise, the land would likely have an E-Ticket experience and some secondary attractions, as well as shopping and dining straight out of the movie. Pawpsicles anyone?

Again, we aren’t putting any money on this one being announced next week as we aren’t too far from the $500 million expansion of the park that just took place, but it sounds like Disney may at least be planning for the future of Animal Kingdom beyond Pandora. But hey, Disney darling Ginnifer Goodwin wants it to happen, so maybe that helps?
