Artist Noah has released his latest 9″ Vinylmation creation titled “Dream Dragon.” It features Figment from Epcot’s Imagination Pavilion and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the theme park.

There will be 30 of these made and are for sale right now exclusively at Disney’s Vinylmation Facebook Store for $750. This custom continues Noah’s style of an airbrushed figure on a stand with a painted back. I really like the Figment that is featured on the stand as well as the cut on “30.”

I Love Mickey Mouse Series Explained

I Love Mickey Mouse Series
Released: August 17, 2012 on Facebook, September 21 at D-Streets
Price: $12.95
Details: The first four from this series show a D-Tour meets Oh! Mickey design style. Each of the first four also have a “Buzz” like helmet as part of the design. They are colorful and have a comment lowercase “mm” for Mickey Mouse theme on them. The first four figures are open window and will be available exclusively on Facebook until September 21 when we presume they will move into D-Street.

Comments: Another set that targets a specific audience. Primarily the female collectors and probably more a souvenir audience than a core collector. I like the style, as I did like Oh! Mickey at the time, but although similar in my opinion, fall short of the artistic level D-Tour achieved. The helmets are a cool idea, just not fully executed. I would like to see the helmets painted to compliment the design on the body. -Nick

Stripes

Features rainbow like stripes across the body and a heart on the front with Mickey’s head at the center of it. One ear has an “L” while the other has a Mickey head. The feet have the signature “mm”.

Words

Very reminiscent of one of the Oh! Mickey’s, but does have a style all it’s own.

Pink

This one has a running Mickey across the body. One ear has a leaf, the other has a flower that says “I Love mm”. The back has more flowers, leaves and Mickey heads.

Clear

It is what it says it is. Clear all over with hearts with Mickey heads inside.

Disney’s Facebook Vinylmation Shop: Like it?

Update: 4/7/12 The shop now has a working checkout button and it significantly changes my opinion.

The button links to a Checkout page at DisneyStore.com. This means that you can add whatever you want from Facebook, including the Facebook exclusive figure, and then check out at DisneyStore.com receiving all the benefits there in. Meaning you can then add other items, Vinylmation or not, from the Disney Store into your cart. You can also apply all discount codes including free shipping. You can also of course log into your DisneyStore.com account. I still will not purposefully shop through Facebook unless I really desire the exclusive being offered, but it makes me feel better about the process.

4/5/12 Disney has introduced a Shop section on the official Vinylmation Facebook page. I’ll be honest, I did not know such an application existed to shop on Facebook. On the surface it is remarkably brilliant for a company as a way to increase impulse purchases. I mean how many people go to Facebook for the purpose of purchasing an item? The interface however seems a bit clunky and I could not actually find a way to pay for the items in my checkout cart. (and by some comments, I wasn’t the only one) The later is an issue I’d assume will be fixed ASAP. So why would you want to purchase through Facebook you ask? For Facebook exclusive figures. The Theme Park Favorites Blue Ringer Tee figure made it’s debut yesterday. Here is a rundown of how to shop, the interface and a look at the exclusive figure. First, you have to “like” the official Disney Vinylmation Facebook page. Then you can click on the Shop icon. Next you have to accept some application notices before you can access the shop.

Right now, the shop only features a few select departments with a limited amount of Vinylmation. Teams, Theme Park Favorites, 2012s, Light Ups and Park 7 LE Fife and Drum are among the initial offerings.

You can then select a department and look at individual items that you can then add to your cart, wish list, share listing with FB friends or let FB friends know you want it.

That is the Facebook exclusive Blue Ringer Tee figure for $12.95. It is a variation on the Red and Yellow versions we have already seen.

You can then add figures to your cart, but there is no checkout button to actually pay for you items yet. So we will continue to check on that (unless someone out there has found the way and can share?)

There are a few other interesting items around the shop. Such as the “Meet the Artist” windows that pop up. Right now, Eric Caszatt is the only one I saw, but this is a brilliant idea. We asked Disney to do this at least a year ago and they told us they didn’t have the man-power to put it together. We did offer to talk to the artists and put it on DV, but they kindly declined. I really hope they put more of these up, they are an invaluable tool to get to know the artists. There are also some tabs that do not seem to have a function yet, but point to added features down the road. These include “Rewards” and “Badges”. I don’t care much for Badges, but if we can rack up Reward points for buying Vinylmation, I’m all for it. How about a Nintendo style point system where we can register our Vinylmation purchases online and rack up points to get rewards or exclusive figures at the end of the year? To me, seeing the “Rewards” tab could make Facebook shopping worth it. I am passing on Blue Ringer, but will certainly use Facebook for exclusive figures that I desire to add to my collection. It will also be interesting to see if Facebook carries vinyls found in the Parks but not Online (right now, that is not the case.) So other than exclusives, and with Free Shipping and Discount codes at DisneyStore.com, there is not an incentive to buy through Facebook for me at this time. Will you be shopping for vinyl at Facebook? Have you ever shopped through Facebook? And what do you think about Rewards and where that can go down the road?

Autism Awareness Vinylmation Auction

by Annemarie

For the month of April, there’s been a great auction going on over at the Vinylmation Exchange Facebook page. Several artists have donated customs for the cause, Light it Up Blue for World Autism Awareness Month. Cheryl Kramp is running the auction, and it goes until the end of this week, ending April 29th. I was honored to design and donate a custom for the auction, Merida from Pixar’s upcoming “Brave.”

There are several other customs up for auction by various artists, and even some Disney produced harder-to-get vinyls as well.

Baby Stitch by Aaralyn
Sorcerer Mickey by Chris Porter
Spongebob by Laura Morrey

So be sure to check out the Facebook group, scroll down to see the pieces up for auction, and join the group to bid!

Celeste Custom Vinylmation Giveaway

Our friend, custom artist Celeste, made an announcement on her Facebook page she would like to share with you! Celeste is giving away a one of a kind 3″ White Rabbit! He comes with his own trumpet accessory.

All you have to do is become a fan of her Facebook page AND leave a comment… that’s it.

The deadline to join is Midnight (Pacific) Saturday May 5 on Cinco De Mayo. This custom looks great! Now while we are on the subject of Celeste, I saw a custom piece on her Facebook page that she recently finished for a customer. A reminder, the following figure is NOT part of the giveaway.

Super cool! A 3″ Maleficent with Jr. Diablo sitting atop a custom staff. The best part… well, besides the amazing artwork… a magnetic orb on Maleficent’s staff holds Diablo perched up there so the bird is easily detachable! Great job Celeste.

Design a Disney Tee!

This isn’t Vinylmation, but we have many great artists that come around here. In case you missed it, the Disney Store Facebook page announced a contest to Design a Disney Tee.

Go to and Like the Disney Store Facebook page and click on the “Design by Me” contest link. Let us know if you enter and how you do. Good luck!

Brave New Vinylmation Set

Update 5/2/12 According to an interview with Steven Miller on Attractions Magazine this Brave set will be available at the Parks sometime after the May 4th Facebook Store release date.

On the Disney Parks Blog, in an article about the new Vinylmation Facebook Store, Disney unveiled the Brave set we were all anticipating. It is based on the new Pixar film to be released in the US on June 22.

The set will include a 3″ Merida and 3 Jrs featuring “The Triplets”. According to the Disney Parks Blog article, this set will release on May 4th as a Facebook store exclusive. The great thing is, all items bought via the Facebook store, are just like purchasing items via the DisneyStore.com. You can add more items to your cart, use any promo codes, and check out with your already established account. For a full explanation of the Facebook Store, check out our previous article. As for the Brave set itself, we first had word about it a few weeks back when Disney posted an event on their site… May 25th in Orlando: “Join us for the signing of Brave set and Phineas & Ferb Series (open edition) with Ron Cohee on Friday, May 25 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at D-Street.” So a May 4th online release of this set gives collectors time to order and receive it before the signing. As for the set itself, Merida looks great and detailed with shadowing and nice use of ears, but the triplets seem to me a bit… redundant. A look at the trailers and official movie website show plenty of great looking characters to pull from. However, the 3″ and Jr approach here make sense given the characters, so that I applaud. Which do you anticipate more, this new set or the film itself?
