2012 Halloween Vinyls

Update: 08/21 Steven Miller commented on blog about price and release date. Thanks to Andrea for noticing!

Disney has unveiled it’s Halloween merchandise for the fall of 2012 and some Vinylmation showed up in the mix.

These two vinyls were posted on the Disney Parks Blog. No release date given, but it seems like September is the norm for the Halloween figures. Scheduled release date: September 21st and WDW and DLR. Scheduled price is $16.95. (see screen capture at bottom) The one on the left looks great. A stack of four carved pumpkins with the top one looking like Mickey. The arms are a clear green with vines painted onto them. The Minnie Mouse on the right is dressed in her Trick or Treat costume complete with pointed hat. This look replicates her style on the main 2012 Halloween merchandise. Some other non-vinyl products also caught my eye…

This design is incredible! I will be dropping some hard earned cash on merchandise that features this twisted take on the creepy wallpaper from the Haunted Mansion.

2012 Dates for Halloween at Disneyland

From Disneyland News:

Disneyland Resort Celebrates Halloween Time 2012, Sept. 14 Through Oct. 31

Separate-Ticket ‘Mickey’s Halloween Party’ Offers Trick-or-Treating In Disneyland Park on 11 Special Nights

ANAHEIM, Calif,.(July 16, 2012) – The Happiest Place on Earth is about to get spookier as Halloween Time returns to Disneyland Resort this fall with Disney villains, Mickey Mouse and his friends in Halloween costumes andMickey’s Halloween Party, along with a special exhibit from , all part of the fun during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. The season runs from Friday, Sept. 14, through Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31.

Tickets are on sale now for the general public, with information atwww.Disneyland.com/Halloween.

Mickey’s Halloween Party invites adults and children to dress up in costume and trick-or-treat at Disneyland.. These revelers can also arrive before the party to “mix in” with regular Disneyland guests for three hours prior to the start of Mickey’s private bash. Highlights of Mickey’s Halloween Party include:

  • The special opportunity to play in Disneyland for up to three hours before the party starts; check www.Disneyland.com/Halloween for party hours.
  • Fun treat stations offering both candy and healthy treats
  • The “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington (presented exclusively for guests of  Mickey’s Halloween Party)
  •  ”Mickey’s Costume Party” cavalcade, performed twice nightly
  • Dance parties, where guests will “boo-gie” to lively music
  • An opportunity for everyone in the family to attend the park in costumes

Tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party are $54* for select nights when purchased in advance, while tickets purchased on the event days and selected nights are $64.  All tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party on Monday, Oct. 29, and Halloween Night, Wednesday, Oct. 31, are $69.

Some favorite Disney characters, including Mickey himself, will dress up in fun, fall costumes.  It’s the ideal environment to eat special holiday treats, play interactive games, listen to “spirited” music and watch a nightly character cavalcade that celebrates the season.

For Halloween fun at Disneyland, guests enjoy Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy in Tomorrowland.  The experience begins as a typical Space Mountain adventure, but suddenly launches voyagers into a haunted section of the universe.  Ghosts appear out of the starry darkness and swirling galaxies of Space Mountain, reaching out as if to grab guests as they speed through space.  The exhilarating drops and curves of the journey are punctuated by piercing screams, creepy sound effects and haunting music.

Jack Skellington also returns to take over the Haunted Mansion and bring back Haunted Mansion Holiday to New Orleans Square in Disneyland.  Transformed to a mix of Halloween spookiness and Christmas tradition, Haunted Mansion Holiday is inspired by the Tim Burton film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” Jack’s return to the Haunted Mansion includes the traditional Halloween/Christmas gingerbread house in the Mansion Ballroom, with some special spooky surprises in this year’s design.

Guests will also find some thrills at Disney California Adventure Park this fall. “The Art of Frankenweenie Exhibition”will feature sketches, props, sets and puppets from Tim Burton’s new animated film, “Frankenweenie” from Sept. 14 through Nov. 5, and it includes a sneak peek of the movie. For spine-tingling fun, guests may drop in at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ where a “supernatural” event happened on Halloween evening, 1939, forever haunting the building.

While visiting Disney California Adventure, guests will want to cruise over to the new Cars Landa re-creation of Radiator Springs from the movie “Cars” with three exciting new attractions – Radiator Springs Racers, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Flying Tires. At night, Cars Land lights up with a neon glow and “World of Color”illuminates Paradise Bay with a spectacular show of water, color, fire, lasers and projected animation.

Children and adults will want to enjoy all the frightful fun during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort.

  • Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland is transformed for the Main Street Pumpkin Festival. Guests will see more than 300 pumpkins - none of them the same.
  • Visitors to Big Thunder Ranch Halloween Round in Frontierland will find ranch animals, pumpkin carvers, Halloween décor and activities for youngsters.
  • Meeting Disney characters will be lots of fun as Disney villains gather to plot Halloween mischief at “it’s a small world” Mall in Disneyland, while other characters in spooky attire greet guests in Town Square, Main Street, U.S.A.

For more information about Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, see www.disneyland.com/halloween.  This site will be updated with frightfully fun details.

Reward Yourself with Vinylmation

The Disney Movie Rewards program now offers a Vinylmation for 850 points. It is the 2012 Halloween Minnie Mouse. An interesting choice, especially since they do not seem to be offering the Pumpkin Patch vinyl along with it.

They also have some Funko Pop! Vinyl Marvel figures and other Marvel merchandise available through the rewards program.

Up until now, I’ve just been stocking up on Starbucks gift cards with my points. These offerings are not enough for me to bite, but they are moving in the right direction.

New Haunted Mansion Vinylmation Series

From Steve Miller of the Disney Parks Blog:

I love visiting the Haunted Mansion in the fall, as there is something extra special about the attraction during the Halloween season at Disney Parks. Perhaps that is one reason why we waited until September to release the much anticipated Vinylmation – Haunted Mansion series #1. This limited release, mystery series has been in development for over a year, and contains a handful of the 999 happy haunts. I spoke with Disney Design Group artist Casey Jones about how he selected the characters for the series.

“We knew we couldn’t feature every single character from the attraction,” explained Casey. “So we selected a character from almost each of the different show scenes. This set gives us a strong foundation to build upon for a future Haunted Mansion series.”

One thing I noticed is that the series contains a lot of accessories. Eight of the figures have some type of accessory item, which Casey explained “helped add the essential touches for each character.”

I was happy to see that the Hatbox Ghost is included in this series. He is also featured on the packaging, which was designed by Thomas Scott with help from artist Dan Salgo. Thomas told me the packaging (which looks stellar) was a nod to a different kind of vinyl.

“We used the cover of the ‘The Story & Song from The Haunted Mansion’ vinyl album as inspiration for the packaging,” said Thomas. “We even used the unique ‘Haunted Mansion’ lettering found on that album as a nice tribute.”

One of Casey’s favorite figures is the singing bust, as he felt it translated the best to the Mickey Mouse-shaped canvas. (Look for the hidden Mickey on the back of the figure.)

To celebrate the release of this series, we will be holding two different release parties. On Friday, September 21, the series will be released at D Street at Downtown Disney West Side in Florida. Casey will be meeting with fans from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. We will also release a one-of-a-kind custom 9-inch Mariner figure designed by Casey.

Casey will then make an appearance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, at D Street in the Downtown Disney District in California. That morning, we will release the mystery series; Casey’s one-of-a-kind, custom 9-inch Bride figure; and additional custom figures by Javier Soto, John Henselmeier, Julie West and Miss Mindy.

I Guess It Will Have to be Trick

The 2011 Trick or Treat Vinylmation is Sold Out at D-Street Orlando and can not be found any longer in most stores that did have it in the parks. According to two different Cast Members at D-Street, the figure is Sold Out and no more shipments are expected. We will look into this further.

Halloween Vinylmation on Display

Nick was at D-Street today and got to check out the new display they had. Here’s a couple pictures of the new Halloween vinyl they are releasing.

What do you think? I miss the tins! (The last one of these was the Candy Corn piece. It had a tin.)

Here’s a look at the side of the box. Interesting….
