PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 10/31/17 (MARVEL Invasion, New Princess & Tinker Bell Merchandise, Halloween Party, Club 33, ETC.)
Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom for one last look at the Halloween season before Christmas settles in next week.
Welcome to the Magic Kingdom
The last Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Part is on November 1st, and then it’s full speed to the Christmas season at the park.
A section of the Emporium is still behind tarps.
Items in the Vera Bradley Alice in Wonderland collection are buy one, get one 50% off at Uptown Jewelers.
The Little Mermaid collection is also available here.
A smaller version of The Dress Shop has opened towards Casey’s Corner. Many of the dresses, purses, and more from the Disney Springs shop can be found here now.
For some reason, this limited release shirt from ShopDisney is being sold in the parks concurrently. The location makes sense as this space was the House of Magic many years ago. Hopefully, more limited release shirts like this get released at the parks as well. Sadly, the matching MagicBand is online only.
The more confusing part is putting the shirt in a window that’s currently boarded up and no one can see…
Even though a few parties remain, any guest at the Magic Kingdom can now buy select items from the event.
As I said last year, I don’t agree with this. At least wait for the last party to end or send it to the outlets. It takes away one of the parks of the very expensive party ticket.
The Club That’s Made Not for You and Me
As we reported over the weekend, work has begun on what will likely be the Club 33 locations for the Magic Kingdom, the remainder of the old Adventureland Veranda.
The path into Adventureland is quite narrow right now due to the work.
Some are speculating that this work is actually for a permanent Moana meet and greet, but it seems way too extensive for something so minor.
Giant sections of awning that have been there since the 70’s have been removed. This wouldn’t be necessary for a meet and greet and could have been kept.
With a little tree clearing, the patio would offer some unique fireworks views for Club 33 guests.
This and That
All of the trees between Be Our Guest Restaurant and the village had to be removed due to hurricane damage.
In fairness, it doesn’t look terrible since all of the walls the trees covered are well-themed.
We’re still hoping they plant some new trees, at least to cover this speaker tower.
Work continues on the outdoor covered seating area at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Should open very soon.
Pecos Bill’s has added an menu with pictures… it’s a window cling.
Splash Mountain is still closed for refurbishment.
Some new holiday plush for sale. Goofy’s sweater features bulbs that actually light up.
You can get the blown-glass Monorail ornament personalized at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.
For some reason, they have a Haunted Mansion merchandise cart out in front of the store selling accessories. I suppose this is to capitalize on Halloween Party guests.

Disney Is Working On A “Hocus Pocus” Remake For The Disney Channel

Disney is bringing back a Halloween favorite, “Hocus Pocus”, for a whole new generation. A “Hocus Pocus” remake is currently in development that will introduce a brand new cast and will appear exclusively on The Disney Channel.
From Deadline:
Disney Channel is in early stages of development on a Hocus Pocus TV movie, a reimagining of the 1993 cult classic Walt Disney feature, which starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy.
The new take is being written by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals), with David Kirschner, producer on the original movie, on board to executive produce.
The 1993 film was written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris, based on a story by Garris and Kirschner, and directed by zKenny Ortega. Garris hinted at a possible Hocus Pocus TV project in a recent interview.
The new Hocus Pocus iteration will have a new cast and a new director. Ortega, who has directed Disney Channel’s two biggest TV movie franchises, High School Musical and Descendants, is not involved.
Hocus Pocus chronicles what happens when three villainous witches, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, are inadvertently resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts. The film has become a cult hit and a staple on Disney Channel and Freeform with annual airings.
Kirschner’s producing credits also include Curious George, An American Tail and The Addams Family TV series.

PHOTOS: Redesigned Hocus Pocus Merchandise Finally Arrives at Magic Kingdom Halloween Party
After the merchandise with the original intended artwork was pulled from shelves at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2017, there is finally Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular merchandise for sale at the after-hours Magic Kingdom events.
The t-shirt retails for $29.99, while the tank top is $27.99.
The ornament was released at the September 26th party and retails for $14.99.
Of course, all of these items are only available to party guests. It remains unknown what the reason was for pulling the original merchandise, but it is said to have been some legal quarrel over the rights to the artwork in use. Here is what the merchandise would have looked like:
Our thanks to reader Stephanie Jensen for the shirt photos above.

Hocus Pocus Halloween Merchandise Will Likely Not Be Released at Walt Disney World
Despite being announced as part of the merchandise lineup for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2017 at the Magic Kingdom, a line of Hocus Locus Villains Spelltacular merchandise (based on the show that is a staple of the party) was not released at the event.
Some sources claim the items were recalled due to some legal/copyright issue. Whatever the reason may be, the items are not expected to show up at any point unless the issue can somehow be resolved before the end of the Halloween season.
The merchandise was also completely removed from the original Disney Parks Blog post about the merchandise.
VIDEO: Experience the New Entertainment (Including Zootopia) and Snacks of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2016
On Friday evening, we attended the very first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2016 at the Magic Kingdom. While I am still composing my thoughts on the overall event this year, I figured I would share some video of the experiences we recorded during our night of fun, including a few short reviews of some of the party-exclusive snacks. Let’s take a look…
Zootopia Party Patrol Pre-Parade
New for 2016, gone is the “Creepa Crew” and here is the Zootopia Party Patrol, a new pre-show of sort for the guests waiting on Main Street U.S.A. for the Boo To You Parade.
The Headless Horseman
A staple of the event, the Headless Horseman rides again just before Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. However, it is still at that rather slow speed that has been kind of a letdown over the last few years…
Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade
Perhaps the most beloved parade at Walt Disney World, Boo To You returns in 2016 with a newly-enhanced segment for Wreck-It Ralph characters. The parade is performed twice nightly during the event.
The Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular
While not new for 2016, new lighting effects and pyro make the Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular stage show even more fantastic then before, even though it is now only presented 3 times an evening.
Happy Hallowishes! Fireworks
The Halloween Party’s fireworks show is back, once again unchanged from the previous years.
Celebrate the Magic – Halloween Edition
The Magic Kingdom’s nighttime projection show is back, and just in time for the Halloween season is a special segment featuring the Disney villains. This show is presented just before the one performance of Happy HalloWishes! fireworks.
Party Exclusive Snack Reviews
A series of exclusive snacks are available at select locations only during the party. Below are reviews of the Pumpkin Spice Cupcake at Gaston’s Tavern, the Ghoulish Strawberry Lemonade Slush at Friar’s Nook, and the Candy Corn Soft Serve ice cream at Storybook Treats.
VIDEO: The Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular Debuts at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Last night was the very first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for 2015 and it hosted the premiere performance of the all-new Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular show on the Castle Forecourt Stage. We were on hand for the very first show and have a complete video of the premiere to share with you today:
