Holiday 2 Photoshoot

Groundhog Day was not too long ago. Today is Fat Tuesday, the final day of Mardi Gras. We are a few days away from Valentine’s Day. And I suppose St. Patrick’s Day and Easter are not too far away. Why do we care? Because all those holidays are represented in the second Holiday Vinylmation series. We of course took Holiday 2 around Walt Disney World for some photos. Can you tell where they were each taken? There are a coupe very tough ones here.

No Chance for Sunburn in O-Town

According to Disney’s Vinylmation Blog today, Orlando’s D-Street will NOT be receiving any of the 9″ Independence Day (Sunburn Man) figures on the planned D-Street release day of June 17.

Looks like the May 27th online release of this LE 500 figure was a mistake. Now, the figures allocated for Orlando have been sold out. Only California’s D-Street will be receiving this figure. “We apologize for the mix up.” – Disney Vinylmation Blog.

That is unfortunate. This is a great figure! One of my favorite 9″ Holidays to date. I did order mine with my phone while in line for Rescue Rangers that day. We were all surprised by his appearance on the Disney Online Store, and now we know why. If you do have the chance, grab this one. We will start at the top. The fireworks in the ears are done very well. Painted on nicely with vibrant colors. His eyes are a deep shade of blue that really standout on the pinkish red figure. Obviously, too much fun in the sun for this guy, as you can see the tan lines where his glasses, tee shirt and even watch were! I didn’t even notice the patch on his left wrist until I got him in the mail. The swimming trunks are also well done. They have a matte finish to them and have little stitches painted on. It is painted well enough to give the appearance of fabric. Again, the colors here are great. Not too bold, but just the right color for that fabric look. And the drawstring is in a silver paint that ties it all together. Add in the over-sized feet in sandals and you have a cartoonish looking figure that reminds me of my Dad on those hot 4th of July nights.

A Tisket a Tasket, Easter Basket Online and Price

I’m sure everyone is in line outside of D-Street this morning for Muppets 2. If you get too many Muppets to carry anything else, you’re in luck. The 9″ Holiday 2 Easter Basket is available at the online Disney Store. The price is $48.95, so if you’re in line now you know the price!

Nevermind, in the time it took me to write this article it has sold out online!

Hopping Into D-Street This Week…

Along with Muppets 2, this Eric Caszatt designed Vinylmation will be for sale this Friday, April 15th.

Easter Basket is the next to last 9″ Holiday 2 design to the hit the shelves. This colorful piece represents an Easter basket sitting on some grass with Easter eggs surrounding it and one big one sitting inside of it. There is a bee buzzing through the front. You can also see the shell is cracked by the right ear and a baby chick is popping it’s head out.

This leaves Sunburn Man as the final 9″ Holiday 2 figure to be released. Look for that one around the 4th of July.

Love it?

The Vinylmation 9″ Holiday 2 Cupid “Love is Blind” figure came out this morning. It is designed by Quynh Kimball and limited to just 450 figures. This piece, just in time for Valentine’s Day, retails for $48.95 and can be found at D-Street in both Orlando and California. There are also some available at the Disney Store online. Here is your first up close look.

Cupid has exceptional detail all around. The paint job is great and there are little details all around.
The detail in both the ears is remarkable. Instead of just painting them on, the artist added red glitter inside the hearts. This figure really sparkles.
The blindfold is raised with a glossy paint… giving the blindfold an almost ribbon-like quality to it.
The wings on the back and the quiver of arrows are also painted with great detail.
The back’s of the ears have a “To” and “From” where you can write your special someone’s name.
On the front, the buttons also have the same red glitter as the hearts on ears.
On the “Heartbroken” side, Cupid has names crossed off his arm.
The bottom is even done with some extra flare. Quynh signs his name with a “Q” in the shape of a heart and adds some hugs and kisses “XOXO”

February 4th Releases

Today we found out a couple of Vinylmation that will be released in D-Street stores in Florida and California on February 4th.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Disney is releasing the Holiday 2 9″ Cupid.

Super cute. The little guy even has some 2 o’clock shadow on his cheeks. (Click photo to enlarge). I love that love is blind, and in one ear, he’s broken-hearted!

Also being released that day, and some might say in time to get your lady for V-Day, is the Cutester 2 series. We haven’t seen much from this series but this is what we have seen.

From the blog we’ve seen both of these pictures. The first is an interesting take on donuts. The second is a mushroom with a cute centipede underneath. I do like how they use the head for the mushroom.

At trade city, hidden in the back of the case, were these three kids dressed up (as animals?). Reminiscent of the Doll from Cutester 1, these guys are cute, but I’m not sure how I feel about them.

What do you think?
