Spotlight On: Jared Flores’ New Customs

Today we got an email from Jared about several new customs he’s made. They are AMAZING. Check out all the new things he’s been able to do with Vinylmation.

Annemarie eat your heart out! How perfect does this look!

Jared has this to say about his new work.
“Lately, I have been trying to outdo myself with my Vinylmation work. These few pieces are an example of this learning process. The Hercules Hydra was sold as part of a private auction, and the rest are all commissioned pieces. All of these pieces are the product of pushing myself past what I have done with Vinylmation before. I am excited about overcoming design challenges to make some really unique versions of some very beloved characters.” – Jared

Artist Jared Flores to Debut A Bug’s Life Blind Box Series

This set was inspired by the insect characters from Disney/Pixar’s 1998 release A Bug’s Life . It features many of the beloved heroes, villains, and wildcards from Pixar Studios second movie. This set features 12 designs, followed by one Mystery Chaser.  For full photos of the set please visit my Flickr stream.

The series will go up for sale on the Facebook group: Vinylmation Exchange Customs. On Sunday May 12 at 7:00 PM PST the official post will open. There are 12 bugs available for purchase, so the first 12 people to claim their box on the post will secure a their bug. Limit one bug per person.  This purchase includes one randomly assigned character from the set, as well as a signed artist card. Each box will sell for $90, with shipping expenses included.

Jared Flores Previews Upcoming Custom Bug’s Life Series

Here is a message from custom Vinylmation artist Jared Flores:

Hello all,
I am currently working a custom series I’d like to let you know about. The blind box series is to be a 13 figure series (containing 1 mystery Chaser) featuring beloved characters from Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. The series will include a range of villains and heroes from Pixar’s 2nd movie. All of the figures are painted to a higher standard than I have ever done before. The level of detail in both the painting and modeling (for some in the set) added many extra hours of work that my normal designs don’t require. I have always had a soft spot for A Bug’s Life and wanted to do it justice, so I made sure to get each character just right.

Currently the series is halfway complete,  but I consistently post updates on my page at jaredcirusbear.tumblr.com, as well as on http://www.facebook.com/groups/VECustoms/ More information about pricing as well as detailed photos will follow as soon as the series is complete in full. I’m having a lot of fun with these characters, and hope you will enjoy the final results.

Thanks- Jared Circusbear

Spotlight On: Custom Vinylmation Artist Jared Flores

Today’s artist sent us pictures of some of the most impressive Star Wars customs MC and I have ever seen. We are really excited to spotlight Jared Flores of Southern California for the first on DV… and we have a feeling there are many more to come.

Destination Vinylmation: Your Star Wars customs are amazing. How long have you been painting?
Jared Flores: I have been painting my whole life. I actually majored in painting. I primarily use oil on canvas, but Vinyl is a great way for me to take a break. Though I have only been painting Vinylmation for a few months, I am really excited about where my custom work is headed.

DV: What drew you to the Mickey shaped canvas?
JF: I have been collecting Vinylmation for a few years now, but only recently have I been creating customs.

DV: Why did you choose Star Wars for a line of customs?
JF: I have always been a Star Wars fan. I wanted to make some of the characters that don’t make it to licensed merchandise as frequently. I knew I wanted to see them, and was sure others would get a kick out of them as well.

DV: Which one are you most proud of?
JF: It’s hard to pick a favorite. They all have such realism. I think it has to be Lando in disguise. Just because of the unique costume choice and wonderful detail in the face. I think the shadows on his face really make it recess back. Jabba the Hut may be my favorite though, he is just such a creep.

DV: How long does it take you to design one 3″ Vinylmation?
JF: I design as I go, and each one requires a unique amount of time that is usually equal to the amount of detail. I can say that I spend a lot of time hunched over my work table.
