Update On The New “Spider-Man” And His Role In “Captain America: Civil War”

08-spider-man-2002e

After it was announced that Tom Holland was cast as the new “Spider-Man”, a little more information leaked out which included several candidates for the role meeting with some of the actors on the set of “Captain America: Civil War”.

From Variety:

The studio has been flying them (the candidates) out to Atlanta, where Marvel is filming “Captain America: Civil War,” over the last month to have them test with the actors they would be starring opposite.

Variety also mentions that unfortunately it is more than likely that Spider-Man will have a very minor role in “Civil War”.

Spider-Man is only expected to have a cameo in “Captain America: Civil War,” so there wasn’t a rush to make a decision since the thesp would only be shooting for about a week.

Variety also mentions that Marvel and Sony were down to three directors, (Johnathon Levine, Ted Melfi and John Watts) but the other two pulled out, which left only Watts.

Over the last two weeks, the decision was made to cut the list down to Levine, Watts and Melfi for director, and Holland and Rowe for the role of Spider-Man. Sources did not reveal the exact reason why Sony and Marvel chose Holland but as for Watts sources are now saying over the past ten days Levine and Melfi became frustrated with the process and worried this may carry over to the production and pulled themselves out allowing Watts to move in and land the job.

Universal Studios Is ‘Not’ Holding Back A New Hulk Movie Being Made

HulkAvenger

After Hulk’s performance in “The Avengers”, most people expected to see The Hulk get his own solo movie like most of The Avengers. Word had come out that although The Hulk could appear in The Avengers, Universal Studios had the rights to all of the stories that appeared in the comics and also any future solo Hulk movie. It turns out that was not completely accurate.

According to Forbes:

It is true that Universal still holds the distribution rights to any future Hulk movies, but the character rights and licenses firmly belong to Marvel after Universal didn’t act on a sequel to Ang Lee’s 2003 Hulk. What that means is that Universal has “the right of first refusal,” to future Hulk films. For example, if Marvel decides they want to make The Incredible Hulk 2, or make  rumors about Planet Hulk or World War Hulk come true, Universal has first crack at deciding whether or not they want to distribute. If they refuse, that doesn’t mean the film won’t move forward, it just means another studio will distribute instead.

It still sounds like there is some red tape involved but another solo Hulk movie could be in the cards.

Review: Marvel Collector Corps Box #2 (Ant-Man)

The first edition of the Marvel Collector Corps was a big hit for me. I enjoyed every piece of merchandise I received in my box, down to the variant comic book and 1-out-of 4 t-shirt designs I got. And while I am not the biggest Funko Pop! Fan, I did enjoy the Hulkbuster that came in the box. So Funko really had their work cut out for them with the second box, themed around Ant-Man. Let’s see how they did…

mcc ant man 01

First, just a quick recap, the Marvel Collector Corps is a bimonthly subscription service in the same style as Loot Crate. Except all of the merchandise that comes in the box is themed around Marvel, and is completely exclusive to the box, meaning that it’s the only place you’ll find this stuff. The second box in the series is Ant-Man, and right out of the gates I noticed the box was a little bit smaller than the Avengers series box. This is probably because the Hulkbuster was such a massive Pop! That they needed the XL sized box for it. I absolutely LOVE the Hank Pym style Ant-Man artwork on the outside of the box, and the inside has a similar comic strip pattern, this time themed all around Ant-Man and his glorious history. I love the way Funko is taking the time to really make the boxes that the product comes in really stand out.

The first items I noticed right away are a new patch and pin. Again, this is similar to what we got in the first box, but this time we have Ant-Man on the patch and pin instead of Ultron and Captain America, respectively. While some people might get angry at such similar items, I’m all for this. I love a nice series of patches and pins that I can easily show off either at a Disney park or a convention. Oh, and they also happen to look amazing!!

mcc ant man 03 mcc ant man 04

The next item that caught my eye is the exclusive Pop! That came with this installment. It features an unmasked Scott Lang bobblehead, with a miniature Ant-Man bobble head that’s about the size of his leg. What a cool idea by Funko to include something like this. First, I’m a huge fan of unmasked super heroes like this, so right away the bobble head is a hit for me. But the miniature, which Funko claims is their “smallest bobblehead ever” is such a neat little edition. Bravo!

mcc ant man 05

Next up we have the other vinyl collectible that Funko promised in their box, in the form of blind boxed Ant-Man mystery minis. There are 4 such designs, with even odds of getting any of them.

mcc ant man 07

This is a cool idea to make sure everyone gets a little something different in their boxes (last month it was a ¼ t-shirt design). While I am not the biggest mystery mini fan, I did get the one figure I really wanted (unmasked Scott Lang), and I also got Yellowjacket. I’ll definitely be trying to hunt down the other two. It is curious, however, that Funko did not put a Collector Corps exclusivity sticker on these, like they did for the Pop! That came in the box. Hopefully these don’t show up on the shelves of Hot Topic at some point. We’ll have to wait and see…

mcc ant man 09

Also included in every box is an exclusive t-shirt. This is an all black shirt, which features the red Ant-Man logo and a little drawing of Ant-Man that says “actual size”. While the shirt design is a little plain, I definitely like the humor on it and will for sure be wearing this when I see Ant-Man in theaters in a few weeks.

mcc ant man 08

Finally, we come to the last item, which is an exclusive variant cover. The issue they chose to use this month is issue #5 of the brand new ongoing Ant-Man series. This is a huge bonus for me because I’ve been collecting variant covers from this series, and this new cover will fit in very nicely with my collection.

mcc ant man 10

So, overall I’d score this box a 9/10. I really enjoyed all of the Ant-Man themed merchandise. My only complaint is that Collector Corps still isn’t protecting the comics they’re sending in the boxes, despite subscriber outcry. While my comic wasn’t damaged this month, the comic I got in the last box was bent and slightly torn. They really need to do something about this. Also, I am reserving judgment about the minis until it is confirmed they are exclusive. Otherwise, this was another fantastic edition of the Collector Corps, and I can’t wait to see what comes in August! To subscribe, check out www.collectorcorps.com.

“Fantastic Four” Movie Rights Are Back With Disney/Marvel; Deal Includes “Dr. Doom”, “Silver Surfer” & “Galactus”; New Film In 2020

Although this has not been officially announced by FOX, Marvel or Disney it does seem that this could be a great day, make that a FANTASTIC day! After years of being at FOX, the first family of comics is finally coming home to Marvel! According to Den Of Geek, Marvel has made a deal with Fox to secure the rights of the “Fantastic Four” movie franchise. The deal would include classic characters such as “Dr. Doom”, “Silver Surfer” and “Galactus”. The first movie is expected to come out in 2020. What definitely was instrumental to the return of the “Fantastic Four” from Marvel was the disastrous box office return from the recent “Fantastic Four” reboot that Fox released this summer in theaters. Also Fox was looking to bring the “X-Men” to TV but they needed Marvel to sign off on the deal and that deal seems to be going through too. It appears that is now part of the deal and Fox will be bringing the “X-Men” series, “Hellfire” and “Legion” to television.

From Den Of Geek:

According to our source, Fox were given the TV rights for X-Men in exchange for Fantastic Four. The deal’s been in the works for some time we’re told. Further, the timing of Marvel’s recent announcement of its movie slate leading up to the year 2020 and the X-Men TV series is no coincidence.

Again, still no official confirmation from the studios involved but it appears that all of the peaces are fitting together.

  • The Fantastic Four reboot was universally panned by most critics and movie goers.
  • FOX announced a few months ago that they want to bring the “X-Men” to television in some form but cant do it with out Marvel’s authorization.
  • Marvel announced recently at the New York Comic Con, that they are adding 3 unnamed Marvel movies to the Marvel Cinematic Universe slate in 2020.

Marvel has announced that they are adding additional movies to the Phase 3 slate of movies and the first new movie will be a sequel to “Ant-Man” and it will be called “Ant-Man And The Wasp”. Paul Rudd will reprise his role as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and joining him this time on his adventure will be Evangeline Lily who will reprise her role as Hope Van Dyne and now take on the role of superhero, The Wasp. “Ant-Man And The Wasp” will open on July 6th, 2018.

To accommodate this addition both the “Black Panther” and “Captain Marvel” movies will be movie their release dates to February 16, 2018 and March 8, 2019.

Marvel also announced that 3 unnamed Marvel movies will premier on May 1st, 2020, July 10th 2020 and November 6th 2020. I’m expecting a Hulk movie to be one of them since he was originally supposed to appear in “Civil War” and pulled out at the last second and also Kevin Feige has said that they have plans for Hulk in the future.

Big Shakeup At Marvel Entertainment

1405692709152

There was a big shake up within Marvel Entertainment. Kevin Feige who has produced all of the Marvel movies and is the President of Marvel met with Disney and made it known that he was not happy reporting directly to the current CEO of Marvel Isaac Perlmutter. Now Feige is reporting directly to Disney Pictures President, Alan Horn.It seems that Perlmutter was a thorn in Feige’s side and it sounds like it came to the point where Feige was even considering leaving Marvel. Perlmutter is notorious for being a cheapskate and not providing enough dough for the movies. “Captain America: Civil War” was apparently the breaking point since they were going over budget and Perlmutter didn’t want to release any additional funds to support the movie.

Then there was also the disbandment of the Marvel Creative Team which some are saying was responsible for Edgar Wright leaving Ant-Man. It has Brian Michael Bendis and Joe Quesueda. The following list show the movies that the Creative Team had some input in:

Movies they worked on: Iron Man, Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War.

Movies somewhere in the middle: Hulk, Ant Man, Thor, and Thor: The Dark World.

Movies with little to no input
: Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3, and Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

What is weird about these movies is that it seems that the Creative Team was heavily involved with the best Marvel movies and barely had any input with the lesser ones. What does this mean for the future? We dont know right now but we’ll see what happens after “Captain America: Civil War”.

That’s it for this time!

Concept Art For “Captain America: Civil War” Reveals Who Is On Cap And Iron Man’s Teams

Mr. Sunday Movies received new concept art for “Captain America: Civil War” revealing exactly who is on Captain America’s Team and Iron Man’s Team. Keep in mind that this is concept art that was probably made before the film began production and at the time Black Panther had a bigger role since they were planning to make the movie without Spider-Man since no deal was made at that point. Scarlet Witch is noticeably absent but a bigger surprise is that Sharon Carter (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier) is a Captain America team member.

“Captain America”

Definitely a different version of Captain America but love the Anime inspired design made to his classic costume.

marvel-captain-america-square-enix-902530-06marvel-captain-america-square-enix-902530-01

Captain America is the embodiment of patriotism, clothed in a star-spangled red, white and blue suit. His iconic costume has been redesigned in the form of a protective armor that highlights his awe-inspiring presence. The Captain’s signature round shield maintains its classic colors and can be placed either in his hand or on his back. Featuring a wide range of motion, the Captain America Variant figure can be dynamically posed wielding his shield. The realistic paintwork – the chipping paint, the burn marks, the remnants of dirt and grim – evokes the fierce battles, explosions, and other gritty situations Cap has gone through. These elements combine to create a modern interpretation of the character and take this figure to another level!

The Captain America collectible figure is available for pre-order through Sideshow Collectibles at a price of $149.99 and will ship in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Fox’s “Fantastic Four” Reboot Gets Universally Panned By Critics And Bombs At The Box Office

Fox’s “Fantastic Four” reboot opened in theaters on August 7th and even before it did, several websites and reviewers decided to break the review embargo that Fox had set for the day of release. “Fantastic Four” has the lowest rating for a superhero movie currently on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 9%. The movie was expected to be at the number one spot for the weekend and gross around $45 million dollars. But once the negative reviews started flooding in, it affected the box office gross of the movie and it came in at #2 behind “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” and grossed around $26 million dollars domestically and it appears now that the foreign box office is not going to save the movie either.

So what happened? I wanted to point out that I haven’t seen the movie but have read several reviews and spoilers for the film. There was a part of me that did not want to go see it with hopes that the rights would go back to Marvel and Disney but if it did receive favorable reviews, I would have seen it at some point. Director Josh Trank is putting the blame on Fox for studio interference and Fox is blaming Trank for his erratic behavior and not wanting to film re-shoots for the film. More than likely, it is a combination of both but I have been following this disaster since it was first announced and I clearly blame Trank. I think the big problem is that Trank didn’t know the subject matter and wanted incorporate his own spin on the story. One problem is that the Fantastic Four is considered Marvel’s “First Family” and it sounds like there is no real family dynamic in this movie. In the movie, Sue is the adopted sister of Johnny Storm but it appears that their relationship is barely addressed. In the comics, Johnny is portrayed as being wild and Sue is the big sister that is always there to bring him down to Earth but also defend him. Reed had a relationship with Sue and eventually they marry. And Ben has always been portrayed as a brother to Reed and eventually the uncle to Reed and Sue’s children. Another problem is you could tell from the very first trailer that they were going dark with the movie. It works for Batman and it works for X-Men but not the Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four should show light hearted fun and be family friendly. I actually enjoyed the first two Fantastic Four movies that Fox did and they fell into that category of being light hearted and fun. Another problem is that they got Dr. Doom wrong again. Dr. Doom is considered by some to be comic books’ greatest villain but for some reason Fox just doesn’t understand the character. Darth Vader was partly inspired by Dr. Doom and Doom should be more like Darth Vader in the movies: a ruthless leader, dark, intimidating, powerful, someone who is seen walking and creating fear with every step. That should be Dr. Doom. In the end, the strayed to far away from what the comic book was and Trank decided to make his own dark and dismal movie and just add the names of the characters of the Fantastic Four to his vision but barely any movie goers found his vision enjoyable.

What’s Next For The Fantastic Four?

Fantastic-Fourfff

Fantastic Four 2 was scheduled to be released in 2017 and directed by Josh Trank. I’m pretty sure that is not going to happen now regardless of what Fox says. Most fans would love to see the Fantastic Four movie rights go back to Marvel but what is the likelihood of that happening?  Here are some possibilities and things to consider:

  • The Fantastic Four has to be shelved for several years – With Fantastic Four doing horribly at the box office and being panned by the critics it has made them less marketable and valuable for whoever will own them in the future. They may have to be shelved for several years.
  • Fox needs to make a Fantastic Four movie every 7 years or else the rights will go back to Marvel –  The last Fantastic Four movie was “Fantastic Four: The Rise Of The Silver Surfer” and came out in 2007. 7 years later Fox had to start working on a Fantastic Four movie and that is how we got the latest reboot. How likely is this? It happened with Daredevil. The first Daredevil movie was made in 2003 and a new Daredevil movie was to go into production in 2010 but Fox had no confidence in the movie and decided to scrap the movie and just let the rights go back to Marvel.
  • Fox does not sell the rights back to Disney/Marvel – Both Disney and Marvel have a bad relationship with Fox. Marvel has openly spoke out against the way Fox has gone with their superheroes in Fox’s movies and Fox has responded by saying they do not need or want Marvel’s help with the franchises that they acquired from Marvel. Disney purchased Lucasfilm and that was Fox’s bread and butter since they distributed all of the Star Wars films. I can understand Fox being upset with that more than anything else because most people associated Fox with Star Wars and now it will be Disney. I am sure that Disney has tried to acquire the Fantastic Four from Fox in the past and Fox is just not budging. The franchise is not really profitable for Fox and Disney still owns the merchandising rights
  • The failure of the Fantastic Four reboot somewhat helps Disney and Marvel with acquiring the rights back from Fox – As I mentioned, the Fantastic Four is less valuable now after the failure of the movie. How much worth does the Fantastic Four have to Fox? Not much. They may scrape a small profit after the release of the movie to home video but most people that saw the movie despite the negative reviews will probably not want to spend money on the sequel. Also Disney/Marvel own the rights to merchandising and that is a big piece of the pie. There are no toys out there for the movie and Marvel cancelled the Fantastic Four comic book series because Disney/Marvel did not want to promote the movie. If Fox holds onto the movie rights to the Fantastic Four it is because of the bad blood between Fox and Disney/Marvel. Another problem is that even if Disney does acquire the rights, the Fantastic Four is more than likely tainted in the public eye. Does Disney want to acquire a franchise that will not make them money? I doubt it but I think the one thing Disney/Marvel needs is villains: Dr. Doom, Galactus and Skrulls. We could also see a Thing vs Hulk fight in a movie and all comic book fans would love to see that.
  • Fox and Disney/Marvel can come up with a similar deal to the Marvel and Sony Spider-Man deal – Fox is doing great with The X-Men and Wolverine movies but they are lost when it comes to the Fantastic Four. They need help from Marvel. Marvel has shown that has a great track record with their movies because they understand their characters. Sony realized that they were having difficulty with the public adapting to their version of Spider-Man and a mutually beneficial deal was made where Marvel would help Sony with the Spider-Man films and Marvel could use Spider-Man in there movies like “Civil War” and “Infinity War”. Fox is aware of this deal and they could be open to a deal where they still retain the rights of the Fantastic Four movies but also have some of Marvel’s characters show up in a Fantastic Four movie and having the Fantastic Four in an Avengers movie would help promote their property. It was just revealed that Fox is currently in negotiations with Marvel with bringing some of the X-Men to their own TV series. Fox is all for it but they do not have the rights for a TV series, which means they need Marvel to sign off on it. That could open the door to some sort of deal with the Fantastic Four coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Fantastic Four is a great superhero team and one of my favorite comics growing up. Can a great Fantastic Four movie be made? Yes and one has actually been made and it’s called “The Incredibles”. “The Incredibles” movie was basically the Fantastic Four and my favorite Pixar movie. Get a great director, great writers and just get that family dynamic right and you will have a fantastic “Fantastic Four” movie.

“Spider-Man” May Have A Larger Role Than Expected In “Captain America: Civil War”

Civil_War_67677

Recent rumors have hit the internet that Spider-Man’s role in “Civil War” would be very small and just a cameo. But now according to BMD.com, Spider-Man’s role will be much more than a cameo and he will have a battle with someone well known in the MCU.

From BMD.com

It’s important here to know that Tom Holland shooting his bit isn’t the same as Spider-Man shooting his bit. Spider-Man has been on that set for a while, played by stunt men. All you need Tom Holland for is any Peter Parker scenes, because otherwise he can come into a local recording studio and loop Spidey’s dialogue at any point between now and release. Basically if Spidey’s mask is off you need Tom Holland, but every other scene happens without him.

How many scenes will Spider-Man be in? I don’t know the exact number, but sources have recently made it clear to me that there’s more Spider-Man in this movie than I expected. Spider-Man doesn’t just swing by and say hi – he gets his hands dirty in this Civil War. He fights. And his fight scene might be the one that really gets fandom excited – not because of how top tier the face-off will be, but because of how profoundly dorky and unlike any other big screen superhero fight it will be.

So for the record: Peter Parker will have a cameo, while Spider-Man will have a few scenes and at least one fight that will be jockeying for a spot on the best superhero battles ever list.

Possible Sides Revealed For “Captain American: Civil War”

Black-Widow-in-Captain-America-3-Civil-War

The big question that most fans want to know is who will be on Captain America’s side and who will be on Iron Man’s side during “Captain America: Civil War”?

According to Heroic Hollywood the teams will be:

Team Captain America:

swwqsqwwq

1) Captain America
2) Hawkeye
3) Falcon
4) Scarlet Witch
5) Ant-Man
6) The Winter Soldier

Team Iron Man:

wqqwqwsqs1) Iron Man
2) The Vision
3) Spider-Man

4) Black Widow
5) War Machine

These teams actually seem really good to me but Black Widow on Iron Man’s side? In the movies and the comic books, she has shown a lot of loyalty to Captain America so it’s hard to believe that she would be against him. But she could be on Iron Man’s team as a double agent? Black Panther is still unaccounted for and it is possible that we may see still other characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe show up on one of the teams.

“Spider-Man Symbiote Costume”

spiderman-symbiote-marvel-feature-3002012

Spider-Man has had a lot of costumes throughout the years and the black symbiote costume has always been by far my favorite.

300510-spider-man-symbiote-costume-05300510-spider-man-symbiote-costume-10300510-spider-man-symbiote-costume-01

When Peter Parker’s classic red and blue costume is damaged, he unknowingly uses a Symbiote creature to reconstruct it, causing the alien form to morph with his body. As a living, thinking entity, the Symbiote bonds with Spider-Man, increasing his powers to create the high-flying, butt-kicking superhero seen in this fantastic gravity-defying sculpted figure. The Symbiote clings to every muscle of the web-slinging hero in his jet-black suit, physically displaying the intense connection between alien and human as he leaps into action, careening over a falling beam, just inches from the deadly explosion below!

The perfect representation of a harrowing and exciting chapter in the Spider-Man legacy, this meticulously sculpted statue is certain to make your Spidey-Senses tingle!

The “Spider-Man” Symbiote Costume premium figure is available for pre-order exclusively through Sideshow Collectibles at a price of $469.99 and will ship in the third quarter of 2016.

Rumor: Is This The New Spider-Man Suit That Will Be Shown In “Captain America: Civil War?”

Spider-Man-concept-fan-art-Captain-America-Civil-War

The above image havs been floating around on the internet and some sites are saying that this could be what Spider-Man will look like in “Civil War”. I definitely have my doubts as do other sites. So what are we looking at? The rumors for a few months is that in “Civil War” we will see a Spider-Man costume that we have never seen before. Also it will be very classic Spider-Man. Most people believe that we will see a red and black costume as opposed to the familiar red and blue costume. Spider-Man’s first costume was red and black so I could definitely see that.

But there are a bunch of red flags with these images. First people are saying that this image was done by an artist back in 2012 and found on Deviantart. I really cant see an established Spider-Man being introduced with toe-less socks. I dont think that would go over well with the masses.

CJffF5hWoAAtiUT

A few weeks ago, an account from the Russo Brothers appeared and posted an image (above) apparently giving hints to the new Spider-Man costume. You can see that in the above image that it seems to hint at goggles for Spider-Man, maybe. This kind of looks like it connects to the drawn image that was leaked above. The problem is that the Russo Brothers have not confirmed that this is their actual Twitter account and even director James Gunn has come out and said that this account is fake.

The First Appearance Of Spider-Man In Amazing Fantasy #15

Amazing_Fantasy_15

We will definitely be seeing a new Spider-Man costume in “Civil War” and I would even bet that we will see two. The big question is Spider-Man going to just have a small cameo or be an active participant? I’m really hoping for the later.

Hugh Jackman Seems To Confirm “Wolverine 3″ Will Be “Old Man Logan”

CK9XsRkWIAAnPAF

While at the Fox Panel at the San Diego Comic Con, Hugh Jackman made the following announcement, “I’ve got three words for you guys: Old Man Logan!”  Hugh Jackman also posted the above photo this week on Twitter asking the fans,

dcsdcdssdcsdc

Most of the responses were there words: “Old Man Logan”. The fans want it, seems like Hugh wants it and it since this will be Hugh Jackman’s last film where he will play Wolverine, I’d expect “Old Man Logan” to be officially announced soon. Hopefully this will open the door where Fox and Marvel can agree on a deal that is similar to the Sony and Marvel deal. Old Man Logan really needs the Hulk in this because his character and family are very prominent in the comic book. It would be nice if Marvel could get the Fantastic Four and X-Men for “Infinity War” and Fox get the Marvel characters they need for “Old Man Logan.” Let’s see how “Fantastic Four does at the box office and if that bombs it could open the door for an agreement.

A Look At “Wasp’s” Suit From “Ant-Man”

1360834082012597062

During the after credit scene that played in “Ant-Man”, we got our first look at Hope Van Dyne’s (Evangeline Lilly) Wasp suit and now we get our first clear look. Rumors have been floating around that she will play a role in future Phase 3 movies. It could be “Captain America: Civil War” but more than likely we will see her in “Avengers: Infinity War”.

Who’s Side Will Hawkeye Be On In “Captain America: Civil War”?

CK_ZRZ2UEAAxnXd

Jeremy Renner was seen wearing a baseball cap that read, “Team Captain America”, so it seems pretty obvious that he will be no fan of Iron Man in “Civil War”. Iron Man is definitely being set up to look like the bad guy in this and it does make me wonder, who will be on Iron Man’s side? Maybe a newcomer dressed in a spider suit?

5/7/15 Marvel News Mash-Up (Civil War Cast Announced, Spider-Man Joins Avengers, New Ant-Man Poster, ETC.)

Marvel Begins Production On “Captain America: Civil War” ; Cast Announced; First Production Art Leaked

Capturesxsaas

Marvel has just announced the cast of “Captain America: Civil War” and the biggest surprise to me is that William Hurt will reprise his role as General Ross from “The Incredible Hulk” movie. There was also no mention of Spider-Man in the cast, but expect an announcement soon.

Marvel’s Official Announcement For “Captain America: Civil War”:

Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on “Captain America: Civil War,” the third installment of its Super Hero franchise. The production will shoot on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.

Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Community”) from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The Winter Solider,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”). The film returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr. (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 3”) as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as The Vision, Jeremy Renner (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “The Avengers”) as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Godzilla”) as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

After his debut in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man,” ”Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”) will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.”

The film also includes outstanding additional cast, including Chadwick Boseman (“42,” “Get on Up”) as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Revenge”) as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Bourne Ultimatum”), Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Warrior”) as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt (“A History of Violence,” Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk”) as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”).

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

“Captain America: Civil War” will open on May 6th, 2016.

New Poster For Marvel’s “Ant-Man” Released

BF_Payoff_1-Sht_v8_Lg

Marvel recently released a brand new poster for the upcoming movie, “Ant-Man.”

Marvel’s “Ant-Man”, one of the original members of the Avengers, makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut this summer following the global critical and box office success of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

“Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas and is in theaters on July 17, 2015.

Rumor: The New Spider-Man Movie Will Be Called “Spider-Man: The New Avenger”

538cd3628a05e

The author of this rumor says to take this with a grain of salt and he is right. Recently there was a rumor that the next Spider-Man movie would be called “The Spectacular Spider-Man” but now it is being reported that the next Spider-Man movie will be called “Spider-Man: The New Avenger.” I like Spectacular better but since the ultimate goal for Sony is to make Spider-Man more profitable it makes sense to throw in “The New Avenger” in the title.

The way everything is shaping up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man will make has MCU debut in “Civil War”, so I wouldn’t be surprised if at the end of the movie he is asked to join the Avengers and then “Spider-Man: The New Avenger” continues Spider-Man’s story from where “Civil War” left off. Spider-Man will be making his “Avengers” movie debut in “Avengers: Infinity War” Part 1.” Even though this is a rumor, it does kind of make sense if they went this route.

Rumor: Is Asa Butterfield The New Spider-Man?; Is Matthew McConaughey The New Green Goblin?

collagesaddcdsdssefs

Many names have been thrown around as the potential new Spider-Man and according to reports, it now sounds like Asa Butterfield is the front runner to don the mask. Asa Butterfield is best known from the films “Hugo” and “Ender’s Game.” A definite plus for him is that he is 18 but he looks even much younger and that is what Marvel and Sony are looking for. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear something official in the next few weeks since “Captain America: Civil War” is filming, and although not officially announced, it is rumored that Spider-Man will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in “Civil War.”

collagesdcscds

Another rumor that has been making the rounds is that Marvel and Sony are in talks with Matthew McConaughey to take on the role of the Green Goblin. I think McConaughey would make an excellent Norman Osborne/Green Goblin. Even though we have see the Green Goblin in 3 (maybe even 4) of the 5 Spider-Man films that have been made, I would love to see the Green Goblin back just so that he could be done right for once. Hopefully it is true and we will hear something soon.

“X-Men” And “Fantastic Four” Characters Removed From Marvel’s “Secret Wars” Merchandise

collageaascsasax

Well, it’s not all merchandise but this definitely raises a red flag. Marvel t-shirts being sold at Walmart show that the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, whose movie rights are owned by Fox, are no longer seen as part of the group. This t-shirts display classic comic book covers from the series, “Secret Wars.” In the above image you can see that members of the X-Men and Fantastic Four are replaced with Thor, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Black Bolt (Inhumans). It’s interesting that She-Hulk is in both images because she could have easily been removed. Does this meant that Marvel has plans for She-Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or possibly part of a Netflix series?

collagesdcdscdsc

This above image shows another classic Secret Wars cover on a t-shirt but again all of the members of the Fantastic Four are removed. The She-Hulk is right next to the Thing and again could have easily been removed but she wasn’t. The Human Torch was removed but his flame still remains. In the left hand corner you can see the Thing being replaced with Wonder Man, Mr. Fantastic is just gone, Wolverine is replaced by Captain America and Storm is replaced by Hawkeye.

New “Ant-Man” Stills Released From Empire Magazine

91310

Empire Magazine’s latest issue highlights the upcoming movie, “Ant-Man.”

From Empire: Michael Douglas is super scientist Hank Pym, the man who creates the technology that powers the Ant-Man suit, while Evangeline Lilly is Hope Van Dyne, his estranged daughter. Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang is the thief who Pym takes under his wing to become the new, modern Ant-Man.

You can also see (under a magnifiying glass) Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross in his Yellowjacket suit, the villain of the piece. Cross is the former protege of Pym, and the man who has taken over his business and plans to use the Ant-Man tech for military purposes. The Yellowjacket suit is the super-slick version of the old-school Ant-Man outfit.

Empire also released three exclusive stills from “Ant-Man.”
