Mickey’s Circus- Robots 3

Disney Store announced Robots 3. It is a twist on the first two sets. This one, is all Disney characters as robots! It will still be a 12 figure blind box series. Both MC and I are super excited to see where this one goes. We also love the character selection so far with the first two figures shown to us not being a part of the Fab 5.

Mickey’s Circus- Star Wars 3

Star Wars Series 3 is coming in May 2013 to be released at Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This installment will have a Return of the Jedi Theme. They showed us a few figures.

Video of Mickey’s Circus Vinylmation Chat

Here is a video we recorded of the Vinylmation Chat Session from Sunday, September 9 at Mickey’s Circus. Unfortunately this year, they did not play the slide show behind the speakers on stage. You can of course check out all the pictures on this website. I also want to say once again thank you to everyone who logged in, or tried to log in to our live chat coverage of this event. I want to once again apologize to the many people who could not log on due to the overwhelming response. We will make sure to have more room next year. But I hope this video helps give you a glimpse of what we got to experience at Mickey’s Circus.

Once Upon a Pin’s Mickey’s Circus Review

First, I want to thank any of our DV listeners/readers who have been checking out Once Upon a Pin, our Disney pin podcast and website we launched a few months back. Our numbers have been rising over the past few weeks with positive feedback about our approach.

You can help by spreading the word to your pin collecting friends in person, on Facebook and on the pin message boards. As you know, Mickey’s Circus was a great source of previews for pins and vinyl. DV had pictures of all the vinyl, but if you are also interested in the pin side, Once Upon a Pin had everything covered. We split the coverage up into three shorter podcasts:

Episode 11: Fantasyland, Epcot 30th and Mad T Party pin previews

Episode 12: Christmas and Nightmare Before Christmas pin previews

Episode 13: General pins that will be released at WDW and DLR. This includes pins of the month, event and general attraction and character pins as well as a look at next year’s POtM and AP pins.

You are also able to follow along and see all the pictures of the pins we are discussing. Just go to our Once Upon a Pin Facebook page and go to the photo albums section. Then, pick the corresponding album to the selection of pins we are discussing on the podcast you are listening to.

Mickey’s Circus Photoshoot

We finally got around to taking the Mickey’s Circus Vinylmation figures to Storybook Circus over at the Magic Kingdom. It’s a wonderfully themed place. Make sure you take the time to stop and look around. Take note of the numbers on the Circus train cars. Tell us what you think of the photos below. And email us your best pics of Vinylmation at the Disney Parks.

Mickey’s Circus- Popcorns

We learned a lot about Popcorns at Mickey’s Circus including the actual creation of the series.

Artist Doug Stayer created this art that Thomas Scott decided to turn into a series of Vinylmation. The series will be released in waves. No set number of figures in each wave, but it seems that they will let us know what will be in each series. If you didn’t know by now, Popcorns is a new platform for Vinylmation that will be sold in open window, popcorn shaped, boxes. Each will be based on Characters from the Disney movies or cartoons. The first series will be released at D-Streets on September 28th and retail for $24.95 (even the variants).

This series will include: Chip/Dale, Chernabog, Jack Skellington, Kermit, Sully, Dumbo, Goofy, Mickey

Pluto (online exclusive).

As far as variants go, there are at least 2 in the first series and they are both LE 2500. A Black and White Mickey that debuted at Comic Con and can still be found for sale at DisneyStore.com and a Clown face Dumbo. The Dumbo was first sold at Mickey’s Circus, but can now, as of 9/11, be found at D-Street Orlando.

The second series will be released next fall, but we already have a peak at two of the figures, Frankenweenie and Stitch.

Mickey’s Circus Full Itinerary

The Mickey’s Circus full itinerary surfaced today. We found it in a tweet by Evilos. We plan on doing another Mickey’s Circus tips and preview segment on next weekend’s podcast (so submit your questions now) and we will go over this itinerary in detail. No big surprises, but it looks like this:

The early pick up on Thursday, September 6 will be held once again at the Coronado Springs Resort in the Veracruz A ballroom. Pick up begins at Noon, but be warned, for some reason people line up hours earlier than that. I was taken off guard last year thinking it was a stop by and pick up process… it is not. I had to leave without picking up my merchandise after driving all the way down there because I drove over on a break from work. Expect to wait in line a few hours even if you show up later than Noon.

Then from 7pm-10pm in the same location is a FREE Vinylmation and Pin trading event. NOTE: This IS open to anyone, not just Mickey’s Circus registered guests. For pin fans, they will be selling a Pin Trading Night Figment LE 500 pin.

Thursday is Breakfast (a separate ticket event) and the first pin trading day. Friday is day 2 for pins and the Dessert Reception (a separate ticket event). Listen to the Once Upon a Pin Podcast for all the pin details.

Sunday, September 9 is the Vinylmation day. Arrive early, especially if you hadn’t done early registration and still need to pick up your merchandise. Many people line up about 2 hours prior to the doors opening. At 9:30, guests will be let inside where you will find various trading areas set up with Disney Cast Members, a partitioned section for guest to guest trading and a future Vinylmation preview section.

The big draw is the 1pm Vinylmation talk. If you can not make it, we will be covering it live on the homepage of our website. There will be live photos posted and a real time chat session where you can talk with MC and myself. We will then of course put out a comprehensive podcast just hours after the event closes. Stay with DV all weekend long for updates on the website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They preview vinyls even during the pin days.

Mickey’s Circus Artist Signings

Disney still has not released a full lineup of what artists will be on hand to sign at Mickey’s Circus, but we can take an educated guess. We do know the autograph session will be from 2-4pm on Sunday, September 9… about a half hour after the Vinylmation preview presentation takes place. We can assume the artists who designed Vinylmation available for purchase at the event will be there: Ron Cohee, Monty Maldovan, Caley Hicks and Eric Caszatt. We have also now seen the announcement that Gerald Mendez will be there to sign his Under the Big Top series.
