Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 4.2 Wayne

WAYNE
The Muppet Show (1976)
Originally performed by: Richard Hunt

The singing duo Wayne and Wanda was often praised by Sam the Eagle as being a wholesome act in a show full of weirdos, but the pair was often unable to make past the first verse of any song before reaching an inevitable moment of disaster.

“Another great use of ears. And a spiffy looking suit too!”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 4.1 Gonzo the Great

Mike Boon is back again with another series of potential Muppet vinylmation. Continuing where we left off, we’ll showcase one design every day from Mike’s Muppet Series 4. Please let him (and us) know what you think of the designs. As we start the second Muppet series of speculation from Mike, we’d just like to thank him again for his hard work and his great designs! Thanks Mike!
THE GREAT GONZO
The Muppet Show (1976)
Originally performed by: Dave Goelz

The oddest character in the core Muppet cast, Gonzo has a tendency for horrible and wildly misguided acts that he believes are pure genius, not to mention a fondness for chickens. We’ve already seen Gonzo in his purple tux as a 9” vinyl, but here he is as the daredevil performance artist “The Great Gonzo.”

“Thank you! We need a 3″ Gonzo. Love the strands of hair in the left ear.”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3 Wrapup

Well it’s been 12 days, and here is Mike’s complete set of 12 figures, including the Jim chaser. Starting tomorrow, Mike will be back with another set of 12 for his “series 4”. We hope you’ve enjoyed these pieces and continue to enjoy the work Mike does. Which were you favorites from series 3?

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.12 Jim

JIM – Chaser
The Perry Como Winter Show (1972)
Originally performed by: Jim Henson

Though unlikely given the fact that I believe the Jim Henson Company owns the rights to Jim Henson’s image, this character would make a fantastic chaser. The design is based on the banjo player in The Country Trio, a Muppet band that performed in several variety shows before landing on The Muppet Show. The other band members were based on puppeteers Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson.

“A perfect end of a perfect series. I can’t wait to see the next set!”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.11 Beauregard

BEAUREGARD
The Muppet Show (1978)
Originally performed by: Dave Goelz

The dim janitor and stagehand from the later seasons of the Muppet Show, Beauregard also played a taxi driver in The Great Muppet Caper. Despite having superhuman strength, Beauregard wasn’t very smart and often found himself exploited by others. This figure would look great with a hat or (even better) a mop accessory.

“I want the hat AND the mop!! Great looking figure.”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.10 Big Mean Carl

BIG MEAN CARL
Muppets Tonight (1996)
Originally performed by: Bill Barretta

The star of the 2010 viral video “Stand By Me,” Big Mean Carl made multiple appearances on Muppets Tonight. All of his acts – Carl the Big Mean Bunny, Carl the Big Mean Bagpipe-Eater, Carl the Big Mean Ventriloquist, etc – were simple covers that he used to try and eat other characters.

“I love the full sized Muppets. The deatailed “fur” on the body of Carl keeps a plain solid color from looking dull (which happens often with Muppets.”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.9 Walter

WALTER
The Muppets (2011)
Originally performed by: Peter Linz

A new character being introduced in 2011’s The Muppets. Walter is positioned as the world’s biggest Muppet fan as he sets off to reunite the Muppets and save Muppet Studios. I would expect a Muppet Show Fan Club membership card to be peaking out of his back pocket.

“From what I’ve seen in the trailers, this looks like a perfect representative of the newest Muppet.”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.8 Uncle Deadly

UNCLE DEADLY
The Muppet Show (1976)
Originally performed by: Jerry Nelson

The Phantom of the Muppet Show, who once tormented the cast before revealing that he used to perform at the Muppet Theatre before he was killed (by the critics). Uncle Deadly is set to make a triumphant return in 2011’s The Muppets as the second-in-command to villain Tex Richman. It would be great to see this figure with a tail.

“Just as scary as the Muppet. Wonderful imagining of this character!”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.7 Mahna Mahna

MAHNA MAHNA
The Ed Sullivan Show (1969)
Originally performed by: Jim Henson

Mahna Mahna first sang his signature tune on The Ed Sullivan Show and then repeated his act on the very first episode of The Muppet Show with his pink companions the Snowths. The Snowths are pictured here peaking from behind his head.

“Another great use of the ears. Pieces like this one completely invoke the feeling of watching the Muppet Show.”-M.C.

Vinylmation Speculation with Mike Boon: Muppets 3.6 Bobo

BOBO
Muppets Tonight (1996)
Originally performed by: Bill Barretta

The bumbling security guard on Muppets Tonight, Bobo memorably fell in love with guest Cindy Crawford. Bobo has since found a calling as a thick but generally kind-hearted assistant to the villains in Muppets From Space, Letters to Santa and The Muppets (2011).

“This shows a great use of shadow to convey just how big a wrinkly Bobo is. This looks perfect.”-M.C.
