For the busy holiday season, guests at the Magic Kingdom will find a number of specialty offerings at all counter service restaurants that offer mobile order through the MyDisneyExperience app. These items are available upon request otherwise, but many are not posted on menu boards or anywhere at all at the actual counter service restaurant.

PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 10/31/17 (MARVEL Invasion, New Princess & Tinker Bell Merchandise, Halloween Party, Club 33, ETC.)

Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom for one last look at the Halloween season before Christmas settles in next week.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom

 width=

The last Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Part is on November 1st, and then it’s full speed to the Christmas season at the park.

 width=

A section of the Emporium is still behind tarps.

 width=

Items in the Vera Bradley Alice in Wonderland collection are buy one, get one 50% off at Uptown Jewelers.

 width=

 width=

The Little Mermaid collection is also available here.

 width=

A smaller version of The Dress Shop has opened towards Casey’s Corner. Many of the dresses, purses, and more from the Disney Springs shop can be found here now.

 width=

For some reason, this limited release shirt from ShopDisney is being sold in the parks concurrently. The location makes sense as this space was the House of Magic many years ago. Hopefully, more limited release shirts like this get released at the parks as well. Sadly, the matching MagicBand is online only.

 width=

 width=

The more confusing part is putting the shirt in a window that’s currently boarded up and no one can see…

 width=

 width=

 width=

Even though a few parties remain, any guest at the Magic Kingdom can now buy select items from the event.

 width=

 width=

As I said last year, I don’t agree with this. At least wait for the last party to end or send it to the outlets. It takes away one of the parks of the very expensive party ticket.

The Club That’s Made Not for You and Me

 width=

As we reported over the weekend, work has begun on what will likely be the Club 33 locations for the Magic Kingdom, the remainder of the old Adventureland Veranda.

 width=

The path into Adventureland is quite narrow right now due to the work.

 width=

 width=

 width=

Some are speculating that this work is actually for a permanent Moana meet and greet, but it seems way too extensive for something so minor.

 width=

Giant sections of awning that have been there since the 70’s have been removed. This wouldn’t be necessary for a meet and greet and could have been kept.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

With a little tree clearing, the patio would offer some unique fireworks views for Club 33 guests.

This and That

 width=

All of the trees between Be Our Guest Restaurant and the village had to be removed due to hurricane damage.

 width=

In fairness, it doesn’t look terrible since all of the walls the trees covered are well-themed.

 width=

We’re still hoping they plant some new trees, at least to cover this speaker tower.

 width=

Work continues on the outdoor covered seating area at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Should open very soon.

 width=

Pecos Bill’s has added an menu with pictures… it’s a window cling.

 width=

Splash Mountain is still closed for refurbishment.

 width=

Some new holiday plush for sale. Goofy’s sweater features bulbs that actually light up.

 width=

You can get the blown-glass Monorail ornament personalized at Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe.

 width=

For some reason, they have a Haunted Mansion merchandise cart out in front of the store selling accessories. I suppose this is to capitalize on Halloween Party guests.

Princess Apparel

 width=

A number of new Princess items were released recently, including this Snow White line.

 width=

$36.99

 width=

$39.99

 width=

$36.99

 width=

$39.99

 width=

 width=

Sir Mickey’s has the new Little Mermaid line as well.

 width=

The collection also includes this hoodie, $49.99.

 width=

Jasmine top, $36.99

 width=

Aurora top, $36.99

 width=

Belle long sleeve top, $44.99

 width=

 width=

There are also 4 new Tinker Bell shirts. They range in price from $36.99-39.99.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

A large section of Sir Mickey’s is now selling items from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

This pillow is exclusive to the parks.

 width=

It retails for $27.99.

Magic Kingdom Getting a Secret Menu Item, Pecos Bill’s Ending Giant Nachos

A new secret menu item will be introduced at Magic Kingdom Park later this fall, while Pecos Bill’s will retire the Nachos Real Grande offering.

 width=

Secret menu items are unadvertised offerings that Guests may learn about from a friend or discover on their own. While Disney won’t say what the dish is, the My Disney Experience app will soon list this new offering, which is said to be “out-of-this-world!”

The Nachos Real Grande, a limited time secret menu offering at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Café, will no longer be available starting October 1st.

Guests can look for the next secret menu item later this fall.

Mobile Order Program Coming to Village Haus and Pecos Bill’s at the Magic Kingdom Next Week

Following the success of the other establishments already running the program, Pinocchio Village Haus and Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe will join Mobile Order through the MyDisney Experience app next week.

Pinocchio Village Haus will join the program on July 24th, while Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe will start on July 25th, 2017.

Other Magic Kingdom locations joining the program soon include Columbia Harbour House. The service is already offered at Tomorrowland Terrace & Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe at the Magic Kingdom, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, Restaurtantosaurus, and Satuli Canteen at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs.

The mobile ordering program allows guests to order at Disney counter service restaurants from their mobile devices and then pick-up the order when they are ready to eat. Check out our comprehensive review of the service to see how it works.

Sadly, Disney has confirmed that locations offering discounts will not be able to honor them through Mobile Order during the “launch period”, so guests will have to go to the counter and order the old way if they wish to get Annual Passholer, Tables in Wonderland, or any other discounts still.

Additional locations will slowly be rolled out over the coming weeks.

5 Magic Kingdom Restaurants Will Join Counter Service Mobile Ordering Program Next

Following the success of the Satuli Canteen and Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, 5 Magic Kingdom restaurants will launch the mobile ordering program starting in the next few days.

 width=

Magic Kingdom locations joining the program include Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, Pinocchio Village Haus, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, and Columbia Harbour House.

The mobile ordering program allows guests to order at Disney counter service restaurants from their mobile devices and then pick-up the order when they are ready to eat. Check out our comprehensive review of the service to see how it works.

PHOTO REPORT: The Magic Kingdom 2/13/17 (Walls Everywhere, Tomorrowland Overhaul, Beauty and the Beast, ETC.)

Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom as many refurbishments and enhancements continue through the less busy weeks of the year.

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom

 width=

Work continues on the Magic Kingdom monorail station (and it remains open thankfully).

 width=

 width=

Work continues on the Magic Kingdom train station.

 width=

The Emporium remains open while work is done to the exterior.

Tomorrowland In Progress Today

 width=

Sadly, the new paint scheme on the Tomorrowland rocks is already peeling.

 width=

 width=

There are now Toy Story Snuggle Snappers for sale.

 width=

 width=

Work continues on the rumored Joffrey’s Coffee location in Tomorrowland.

 width=

Just a few days ago, there was just a foundation behind those walls.

 width=

The Cool Ship has reopened, but the Cool Scanner remains under refurbishment.

 width=

The exterior painting on Space Mountain continues.

 width=

 width=

 width=

A look down at just the foundation for the coffee stand.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

The Cool Ship is looking good after its short refurbishment.

 width=

Apparently, the guest relations location in Tomorrowland is still a thing, there was just no one working there the last time we visited.

 width=

Some Beauty and the Beast phone case designs can now be found at the D-Tech on Demand kiosks here.

 width=

 width=

 width=

As you can see, it was open again. I’m guessing they were understaffed the last time we visited.

 width=

The refurbishment of Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe is underway, with the restrooms closed for remodeling.

 width=

 width=

 width=

This kid asked me why the bathrooms are closed. I responded, “Kid, have you eaten here?”

 width=

I’m not sure if it was done recently, but I noticed the old multicolored covering on the benches was gone and there was a new paint scheme on the walls.

 width=

There is now a FuelRod kiosk inside of Cosmic Ray’s. The convenience continues to grow as you can find many of these in each park now.

 width=

The work on the exterior has many of the windows covered.

 width=

If you couldn’t tell, it is really dark inside right now.

 width=

The work outside is to add more covered seating areas.

 width=

Beauty and the Beast Taking Over

 width=

I found the Beauty and the Beast MagicBand at the Magic Kingdom. It’s not the best one I’ve seen…

 width=

Bonjour Village Gifts is now selling tons of merchandise from the new movie.

 width=

Including the Belle doll which most think looks more like Justin Bieber in a dress…

This and That

 width=

I’m no fan of Pinocchio Village Haus, but closing at 6pm seems a bit early. Even the @WDWToday twitter account tweeted at 6pm the other day that you should go eat here, but it was closed already…

 width=

Inside, the electronic menu boards have been covered for a while, with these static signs placed over them for now.

 width=

There are now candy-filled lightsabers for sale at the parks.

 width=

Filled with off-brand M&M’s…

 width=

You can get blue or red, but clearly the red is more popular.

 width=

A new mug for sale in the Emporium.

 width=

I thought it was neat that it has an emoji of the castle underneath instead of the usual logo.

 width=

Pecos Bill’s has become my favorite quick service lunch spot over the last year. It seems this is where I end up every time there’s not something new to order elsewhere in the park.

 width=

The new kid’s nachos dish is a pretty good value, and you can load it up as much as you want at the fixin’s bar.

 width=

 width=

 width=

The taller trees on the riverbank were removed to help with the sight-lines for Tiana’s Riverboat Party.

 width=

As you can see, this new, smaller tree was just planted.

 width=

All sorts of emergency walkways and exits around the parks seems to be getting much brighter LED lighting for nighttime.

 width=

Seen here, the stairway at the dock is brighter than the lights on the Riverboat.

 width=

 width=

Tomorrowland Tonight

 width=

The nighttime lighting on the Tomorrowland rocks looks great as it reflects off the water and makes a wave effect.

 width=

 width=

New lighting was installed on the Progress City model along the Peoplemover and it looks great.

 width=

 width=

Just two days later, the entire Joffrey’s Coffee kiosk was there (sorry for the blurry pics, but best I could do).

 width=

 width=

 width=

Goodbye…

 width=

The Wishes! poster acts as a decent reminder when you leave that you only have a few weeks left to see this legendary show.

BREAKING: Disney Removing Large Cups from Counter Service Locations, But Why?

In a strange turn of events, several counter service locations at Walt Disney World recently removed large drink cups from their menus.

A large drink cup I acquired at Pecos Bill's just a month ago, now gone from the menu.

A large drink cup I acquired at Pecos Bill’s just a month ago, now gone from the menu.

The confirmed locations so far include Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, Casey’s Corner, Westward Ho, and Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, all located at the Magic Kingdom.

Now, many counter service locations at other parks do not have large cups because the establishments feature self-serve soda fountains where guests are able to get refills on their own. The Electric Umbrella, Sunshine Seasons, Restaurantosaurus, and Backlot Express are examples of these types of counter service locations. Almost all counter service locations at resorts have these self-serve fountains as well, most sporting the Rapid Fill technology which limited the time and amount of refills the cups can be used for.

We have been unable to confirm why this is happening and if the trend will continue, but there are several possibilities here. The first is that Disney is trying to up-sell guests on souvenir cups. Westward Ho and Pecos Bill’s offer a fairly large souvenir cup shared like a jug, but even the souvenir mugs at Casey’s Corner and Cosmic Ray’s are much smaller than a large fountain beverage. That being said, Sleepy Hollow does not currently sell a souvenir cup.

From my personal collection: as you can see, the Country Bears jug is quite large, but the other souvenir cups are considerably smaller.

The second is that it is a cost cutting measure since most locations don’t even need to stock the large cups since they use a self-serve drink fountain. In addition, guests could be ordering just one large fountain drink for $3.69 and sharing it rather than buying one drink for each guest in their party. Disney could make a lot more money at $3.29 a drink if everyone in the group buys one.

With the busy holiday crowds, it could also be a way of streamlining service at some of the resort’s busiest eateries.

For those hoping self serve fountains or Coke Freestyle machines will be added, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Most of the locations mentioned above are far to small for either of these things to be installed.

Whatever the reason, we will have to keep our eyes peeled to see if the large cups return to these locations or begin to vanish from more around Walt Disney World.

Tortuga Tavern at Magic Kingdom Getting New Menu Starting 10/14

On the heels of the Pecos Bill’s menu change, the seasonally operating Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom is switching to a new menu as well.

New menu items include barbecue sandwiches with either pulled pork, sliced beef brisket or grilled chicken breast, all served on Texas toast with beans and cole slaw.

Vegetarians, or anyone looking for a lighter meal will enjoy the roasted corn and vegetable salad, served with vinaigrette dressing. Barbecue beef brisket or chicken can also be added to the salad.

Beginning October 1st, 2015, the new menu will feature fajitas, burritos, and rice bowls. The changes will come after a 3 day closure of the restaurant September 28th through the 30th.

The current menu features items like burgers, sandwiches and fries for the most part.
