I also visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios this weekend to see what was new and exciting, and here’s what I found:

Kylo Ren now on the times guide

More new Hollywood Studios merchandise continues to roll out

A magnet

Never noticed the old Star Tours goose droid parts in Launch Bay before

More Zootopia merchandise slowly pouring in

Same goes for The Lion Guard

New Star Wars kids clothing found inside Tatooine Traders

Not only was the large planter across from Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple leveled, it looks like they are installing more space for kids to be in the show

Kylo Ren is supposed to be added soon, so my guess is there will be three villains for kids to battle

A much smaller planter has appeared

Hopefully this will all be fixed, because honestly it looks horrible right now, but I understand the need for more viewing and stage space

The temporary stations don’t look very good either

Honestly, I can’t wait for Star Wars Land to move this out of the way

Work continues on the new awnings at Sunset Ranch Market

Interestingly enough, the newly covered areas have heaters for when it gets cold in Orlando (which isn’t for long)

Club Disney has ended, but should return for Spring Break or Summer

Don’t worry everyone, BLUE MILKSHAKES ARE BACK (at Min and Bill’s)!!!

Disneyland Reporter Tim Alcoser visited the two parks this week and has a number of newsworthy photos to share with us from his trip, so let’s take a look at what’s new and exciting around the Happiest Place on Earth:

Welcome back to the Disneyland Resort

AP days are ongoing throughout the month

The Diamond Celebration continues through September

Annual passholders could get this map and button set during the Main Street and Mickey Mouse days

“it’s a small world” has returned

More people were trying to ride the Jolly Trolley than when it actually functioned…

Tim caught the Soundsational daytime parade, now in its 5th year

The Autopia refurbishment rolls on as Honda is set to become the sponsor

The last of the Tomorrowland 1998 paint scheme is being erased as blues and whites are applied

Tuppence a bag…

Tim spotted some activity towards the back of the Rivers of America

Looks like they may be surveying the area before they start bulldozing for Star Wars land

Attraction posters now adorn some walls around the river

This sign is particularly interesting as it has been altered to say the Disneyland Railroad. Could elements of the old mine train be coming to the new path of the Disneyland Railroad?

The Hungry Bear Restaurant remains open through the construction

Tim attended one of the AP Days screenings at the Opera House, which included free popcorn and water

Some work being done to the ticket booths outside of the parks

Moving back to DCA, testing continues on Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters

We expect the attraction to open any day now

Back to Disneyland, where the Haunted Mansion is running FastPass service again

While World of Color- Celebrate! is not the best version of the show to date, it is very photogenic

Both Dirk Wallen and myself visited Animal Kingdom recently and we have some newsworthy photos to share with you of what’s new and exciting at what seems to be the WDW park to watch in 2016:

Walking into the park, you are greeted by the construction for Pandora: The World of AVATAR

Work now happening on the 2nd floating island

A view of AVATAR and Rivers of Light construction from Expedition Everest

The construction site is quite busy as the new show reaches completion

This was exposed steel last week, but now it is a tower for a follow-spotlight

The lower section of the seating looks almost ready to go

We can only assume this large structure with an entry portal features FastPass scanners for entry

Work continues on Tiffins and Nomad Lounge just behind Pizzafari

Work also being done on the Tree of Life as the new nighttime lighting is installed

This new large tree was planted on Discovery Island. Not sure why, but it looks nice.

Disney Outfitters is still closed

All of the new ceramic character statues have been released at this point

They are $21.95 each

Flights of Wonder is closed for refurbishment

The Lion Guard adventure begins soon, but banners are already up at Rafiki’s Planet Watch

Earlier this week, I visited the Magic Kingdom to see what’s new and exciting around the park, so here are some photo finds of interest from my trip:

It started as a rather dreary day

Many of the Main Street Vehicles were out and about

One side of the Cinderella Castle ramp was open

Still a lot of work to be done

The new railing was installed on this side

Old news by now, but the Pork Shank is gone

You can get some stew…

Or there is the LeFou’s Winter Brew right now

These new Princess figure sets are starting to show up around the parks, the deluxe sets are $19.95

Single figures are $12.95

These safety recall signs are all over most merchandise locations

We had breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant

The pastry dish is still pretty small for 3-4 people to share…

Also, they had no large cups and you can only get one beverage per meal now as opposed to the three you could get originally (like a fountain drink, orange juice, and chocolate milk, per say)

Nothing major, but the fairly damaged covers for the water and smell dispensers in Philharmagic have been replaced with a new style

A few weeks ago, new lighting was in

It kind of abruptly ends before the room does, hopefully that changes. I don’t hate it, but it is an adjustment from the old look for sure. The photos may not do the lighting movement justice, so I took video as well (sorry for the lack of sound):

The finale scene screens are on and there has been reports that some guests have indeed seen their names up on the screens

It wasn’t working when I went through

The first Zootopia pin has been released

This awesome PVC Pirates of the Caribbean figure set was released recently, retails for $15.95

I had lunch at Skipper Canteen

The specialty drinks are still pretty meh…

The falafel appetizer was surprisingly good

The S.E.A. Shu Mai is by far my favorite appetizer at Walt Disney World

As far as entrees go, the pork was very good…

The noodle bowl not so much…

But the head-on shrimp was the overall favorite for the incredible seasoning on it that was just the right amount of spice

It turned into a beautiful day eventually, albeit cold

All of the characters in Festival of Fantasy were sporting winter wear

Merida apparently is always in winter wear…

The first circus float broke earlier in the week and has been out of the parade for a few days now, no word on when it will return

Even though it is cold, the evenings have been really beautiful all around the resort

Dirk Wallen’s 1/5/16 Epcot & Disney Springs Photo Report (Soarin’, Frozen in Norway, STK Steakhouse, ETC.)

WDWNT Reporter Dirk Wallen visited Epcot and Disney Springs yesterday and has some newsworthy photos to share with us from his trip:

Starting at Epcot, Soarin’ is now closed to make its digital conversion to Soarin’ Around the World and to finish adding a third theater

Soarin’ being closed changes the outlook of the pavilion quite a bit. Sunshine Seasons will open daily at 11AM and close at 7PM until it returns.

You can see the new third Soarin’ theater behind the Imagination! pavilion

The small park area behind Club Cool is finally being torn down. Pretty sure the butterfly garden will just be erected now as it makes no sense to level this and put the walkways back just for a few weeks.

Work continues on the new Frozen meet and greet pavilion in Norway

As well as on the Frozen Ever After attraction

Moving to Disney Springs, the new bus loop is coming along nicely

Work continues on the Town Center area

Some buildings look to be nearing completion, possibly opening before the end of the Spring

STK Steakhouse will be opening likely within the 6-8 weeks or so

Structural work continues on what will be The Edison, likely delayed until very late in 2016

Planet Hollywood closes tomorrow to begin its makeover, meanwhile the buildings around it are nearing completion as well

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar has a new coaster in stock, The Raven which is Marion’s bar in Raiders of the Lost Ark

2016 pressed pennies are now available around the resort

New Princess MagicBandits on sale

I recently visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom to check out the progress on all of the new projects in the park, so here are some newsworthy photos of what’s happening at Disney’s “wildest” theme park:

The floating mountains of Pandora: The World of AVATAR visible from the parking lot

Riverside Depot opened on Discovery Island recently

New Monstro and Figment ceramic figures on sale

Some of the little details in the store are really cool

The store sells mostly pins, toys, home-goods, and smaller souvenirs

What was the Art of Disney a few years ago is now just filled with toys, mostly Star Wars

Disney Outfitters next door has now closed for remodeling

SPOILER ALERT

The construction walls for AVATAR don’t say anything, but at least they show something now

Work continues on Tiffins on the backside of Pizzafari

The spotted dogs are now out on Kilimanjaro Safaris

They were very active, running around and being playful

Construction continues on Rivers of Light, debuting this spring

Here we see moving lights with waterproof domes have been installed

The Thirsty River Bar opened recently, replacing the old FastPass distribution for Everest

The bar serves a number of pre-made food and drink items

My camera didn’t want to focus for some reason…

Lots of stickers decorate the bar

The Ole Elephant Foot IPA was quite good

The Himalayan Ghost was nothing special, had very little flavor

The Khumbu Icefall might be my new favorite drink at Disney World. Very sweet and just the right amount of alcohol, not bad for pre-made.

I also got one of the pre-packaged turkey sandwiches…

It was cut in half the wrong way and barely stayed together, but it was good. Why was I in Dino-Rama? Because there is nowhere to sit and eat and drink at the Thirsty River Bar…

It’s still Christmas here…

Guests apparently are having a hard time finding Dinosaur, there are several of these signs up in Dinoland

The speakers for the Rivers of Light seating area are being installed now

Peep holes were put in the construction walls, yet the walls still don’t tell guests what is coming…

Not sure if this is new, but all of the food stands on Discovery Island were named and received menu updates at some point…

With Disney Outfitters gone, Island Mercantile is now selling just apparel

The store’s selection has been pretty much the same since 1998, so this is a bit of an adjustment

We have to wonder what exactly will happen to Disney Outfitters during the remodel if all of their merchandise is now here.

It has been far too long since we have had a photo report from the Disneyland Resort (in-fact the last one was December 2014), luckily Disneyland Reporter Tim Alcoser has returned to WDWNT to once again bring us the latest from the Happiest Place on Earth. 2016 is going to be a year of major changes here at WDWNT, and bringing back regular coverage of the Disneyland Resort will be among the many new offerings we have planned for thsi year. Without any further delay, welcome back to Disneyland:

Metal detectors are here too

The Diamond Celebration rolls on through September 2016 at the Disneyland Resort

The Rivers of America closed on Sunday so that work could finally begin on the Star Wars-themed land for the park

The Columbia is stationary, but entertainment is being offered on the ship and you can explore it all you like

Tiana was greeting guests by the petrified tree, rumor has it she will be aboard the dry-docked Mark Twain for a dining experience soon

While the Disneyland Railroad is closed for Star Wars construction, you can hop aboard at Main Street or New Orleans Square stations and check out the trains and talk with an engineer

We have a video tour of the Ernest S. Marsh, which is parked at the New Orleans Square Station for you:

Haunted Mansion Holiday is closed for the season and Haunted Mansion returns later this month

The Explorer Canoes are closed until 2017, if they return…

A quiet Rivers of America, as it will be until 2017

If you feel the need to ride on water, Splash Mountain is still open

And you never know, Tim might end up in the back of your photos…

Big Thunder Ranch is closed too, but this closure is permanent. The back path around Big Thunder should close very soon to accommodate construction.

Hopefully this Big Thunder photo-op will make the move instead of getting scrapped

Season of the Force in full swing in Tomorrowland

Path of the Jedi is the same clipo show you can see at Hollywood Studios

One thing you cant see at Walt Disney World: Hyperspace Mountain

And Marvel Super Hero HQ for that matter, now in the upper level of what was Innoventions

Star Wars Launch Bay occupies the downstairs

It’s been a long time since we’ve visited, so let’s stop and take in the Disneyland Forever fireworks

The fireworks were displayed early to accommodate filming of the Disneyland 60th TV special that will air in February

You still have some time to experience “it’s a small world” Holiday, open until January 25th

Guests filled Main Street to see some castmembers from Dancing with the Stars perform alongside the Paint the Night Parade

Those girls had to be cold…

Tim also took some video of the filming, a full musical number concluding with fireworks above Sleeping Beauty Castle:

Disneyland Reporter Tim Alcoser brings us back to the Disneyland Resort for the latest news, as well as our return across the Esplanade to California Adventure in this new photo report:

It’s a beautiful evening at Disneyland!

Paint the Night is a wonderful re-imagining of the old Electrical Parade, hopefully soon on the way to Walt Disney World

Tim was nice enough to take video of the Paint the Night Parade for us, be sure to watch if you haven’t checked this out yet:

Tim also checked out the stationary experience for the Disneyland Railroad at Main Street Station

Here guests can check out the E.P. Ripley and take a peek inside the Lilly Belle

While it is sad that it is closed, how often can you do this?

The engineers are also available to talk too, making this something really special for those of us who are real park fanatics

Tim also took a video of the Main Street Station stationary experience to share with us today:

The Rivers of America remain quiet, awaiting Star Wars construction at the back end of the area

The Mark Twain is docked, but should be home to a new experience soon

If you’ll be dining at the Hungry Bear over the next two years, you’ll have an interesting view of things…

What I mean is you will be staring at a tarp with trees on it

Haunted Mansion Holiday is coming down quick this year, so don’t expect to see any maintenance performed on the much-maligned normal version of the ride

Moving over to DCA…

PIXAR Play Parade is still running

The Aladdin musical closed last week, the FROZEN musical will start in the Summer

This is still a thing…

The Flying Tires replacement, Rollicking’ Roadsters should open very soon

Don’t expect much from this attraction, it’s essentially the Aquatopia ride from DisneySea on dry land

The new Moonliner Rocket statue has been released already at Disneyland

I took a quick trip to Epcot one evening last week and I took a few newsworthy photos to share, so let’s see what’s new and exciting at WDW’s second gate:

I like the colder weather, so the 60 degree nights in Orlando lately have been wonderful

It looked like they were finally doing some work inside the former VISION House at Innoventions. Habit Heroes quietly closed 3 days after this photo was taken, completely unannounced.

With Innoventions West gone and now two exhibits closed in Innoventions East, we really need to wonder if this is the end of the exhibit space.

Innoventions West is slowly being converted to more and more meet and greet space, I can’t iamgine what they will do with Innoventions East at this rate.

The holiday decorations are slowly vanishing around the parks

Managed to get a ride in on Test Track…

Scaffolding up in the China pavilion amidst a lightsaber battle

I had dinner at KAtsura Grill in Japan, really one of the better counter service restaurants at Epcot.

The off season has begun, as you can tell by this picture was taken at 7:30PM

If you are looking for the old celebration buttons, they are still around at various merchandise locations, but you might want to hurry up before they are gone

WDWNT Reporter Dirk Wallen was on the scene at Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier today and he has some great photos to share from his trip:

Rivers of Light construction is picking up as they race to soft-open the show in March/April

New islands conceal static show elements

I applaud Disney on the viewing area, glad to see stone benches instead of the metal bleachers

Here we see the control booth under construction

A view from Everest allows us to look from the same direction the crowd will see the show

Meanwhile, Pandora: The World of AVATAR races towards a 2017 opening, which may actually be sooner than we thought

It may be very early in 2017 when we get to visit Pandora for the first time as apparently work on the attractions is going well

Things are getting exciting at Animal Kingdom as we prepare for two incredible years of new offerings
