Park Starz Yeti Rides Expedition Everest

Austin and I had the rare chance to tag along with the great and mysterious Yeti as he visited Animal Kingdom to ride Expedition Everest.

Yeti arrives at Animal Kingdom on a beautiful summer day.
It didn’t take him long to find Asia
Like most tourists, the Yeti could not resist a photo in front the fabled mountain range.
First he made sure he fit in the ride vehicle. Plenty of arm room. You know how those Yetis like to move their arms!
Then, with a 90 minute wait, it was wise to grab a Fast Pass. A nimble creature the Yeti is.
Respect the Yeti you will.
While waiting, he shopped at the Serka Zong Bazaar. “How dare they make me look cute!”
“Arrrg! Now I’m a Yeti!” He said it should shrink in the wash.
Now it was time! The anticipation grew! Let’s get in line, our time has come!
“Sorry sir, you must be one Yeti foot tall to ride Expedition Everest.” What!!! Grrrr! What does that even mean!? I AM a Yeti!
A very angry Yeti then spent the rest of the afternoon swatting at guests as they swooped off the mountain side. He didn’t hit much, but it made him feel better.

Toy Story Photoshoot

We can’t believe it took them this long, but the Toy Story figures finally asked for a field trip to ride Toy Story Midway Mania. Austin and I were happy to oblige, and even took a short detour to the All-Star Movie Resort for a look around the Toy Story buildings. I hope you enjoy this photoshoot. Austin provided some captions. I also included some pictures of Buzz and Woody’s trip to Pixar Weekend last spring. As always, more photos on our Facebook page. (also, check out our story on the history of TS Midway Mania and the Park 9 LE figure)

Oh, it’s a rainy day here in Orlando. Let’s brighten things up with some photos of the beautiful Alice in Wonderland Flowers growing wild in the rose garden at the Magic Kingdom.

Lighting Up the Magic Kingdom

As the sun goes down just a bit earlier these days, the Magic Kingdom lights up that much earlier. Have you ever really explored all the different lights around the park? Austin and I did… with the help of the Disney Store 25th Anniversary Light Up series.

Merry Christmas! Vinylmation Photoshoot

Walt Disney World is so beautifully decorated for Christmas each year, so we took the Christmas themed Vinylmation around the parks and resorts for some photos with all the decorations. I had pretty much all of them, except for Jingle Smells and the first Osborne (hint, hint) Enjoy! There are even more photos on our Facebook page.

The Monorails: Live at Disney’s Grand Floridian

Long before they made an appearance as our favorite 3″ Disney collectibles, The Monorails were a band that toured around the Walt Disney World Resort performing at the resorts. We recently dug up some of The Monorails old concert posters, CDs, Albums and publicity photos. The Monorails were on hand when Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort opened on July 1, 1988. With that anniversary this weekend, we thought we would start there.

Happy 4th of July 2012!

What is your favorite way to celebrate America and the 4th of July at Disney?

For me, it’s a stroll down Main St. USA and it’s also my tradition to watch The American Adventure at EPCOT this time each year.

GRR!

Zoe braved the wild to capture this shot of the Bear at Grizzly River Run!

Oh No! Villains 2 Invade EPCOT!

It all began as a beautiful day at EPCOT. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the crowds were light. Then, as if out of no where, a dark cloud loomed over Spaceship Earth and an evil villainous laugh echoed over the lagoon. Everywhere I looked, a Disney bad guy was looking for a way to take over Walt Disney World…

Dr. Facilier tried to harness the power of energy to increase his voodoo magic.
The Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed and began blowing down every house in sight.
Honest John looked for a way to take to the skies.
Captain Hook attempted to commandeer a vessel from The Living Seas.
Shere Khan prowled The Land… poisoning the food supply perhaps?
The Evil Queen checked out her reflection by the Imagination fountain.
Bowler Hat Guy devised an evil plan to take over the monorail…
Then Doris showed up and “improved” his plan.
Runaway Brain would be very dangerous at the controls of a spaceship.
Yzma knows there is power in the pyramids.
Hades learns about the routs of his power.
Mother Gothel thinks the wishing well may be her fountain of youth…
But only a good heart may drink from its waters.

A Hauntingly Good Time

A special thing happened to me while hanging around the Haunted Mansion today, but first, the Disney Vinylmation Blog has finally given us a release date for the Haunted Mansion pocket watch. On Friday, April 13th you may purchase this Caley Hicks designed masterpiece in the following locations: Both D-Street, World of Disney (WDW and DLR), Uptown Jewelers (MK) and New Century Jewelers (DLR).

This timepiece to me is a nice tribute to a classic attraction. The pocket watch itself is the highlight for me. A really unique design that screams Haunted Mansion. With this news, I also want to share with you a Magical Moment I had today at the Magic Kingdom. Austin and myself were taking pictures of the Nightmare figures by the Haunted Mansion. We also had the Park 5 Haunted Mansion Clock with us for a picture. While setting up a shot, we were approached by a Cast Member who had talked with us a few minutes before about our collections. He asked if we wanted to take a picture in a place not everyone gets to see. We of course said sure and followed him backstage. We entered the Servants Quarters. There we saw a board on one wall full of keys. These, he said, were the room keys for the mansion. On the opposite wall were numerous bells hanging off the wall all attached to a wire that went into the wall. These bells would ring when the master in that room had summoned a servant. One of the bells read “Uncle Davis’ Sleeping Salon”, a nod to the legendary Imagineer Marc Davis who created many of the gags you see around WDW attractions, including this mansion. The Cast Member prompted us to pose our vinyl figure for a photo with this unique off-stage prop.

It was a great experience and I appreciate kindness and willingness to make a guest’s day by this Cast Member.
