Pirates Attacking Stores Sooner Than Expected

According to Disney’s Vinylmation blog, Disneyland will now have Pirates series in D-Street on July 1 just as Orlando. Check out our Pirates Explained page for details.

Also, to best both US locations, Hong Kong Disney will see the Pirates series in stores on June 18th! Just days away. So if that Hong Kong Vinylmation eBay seller has some Pirates listed soon, they may actually be legit! (I had to, sorry). Here is the picture posted on the Hong Kong Vinylmation page:

Blackbeard Joins the Crew of Pirates of the Caribbean

On May 20th, Star Tours wasn’t the only new addition to Walt Disney World. Blackbeard, from the latest installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, has temporarily replaced Davy Jones in the waterfall sequence of Pirates of the Caribbean and we have a short video of this new addition to share with you:

Blackbeard has also replaced Davy Jones in the exit ramp, giving guests a word of warning before they disembark from the attraction.

Captain Blackbeard To Temporarily Haunt “Pirates of the Caribbean”

Rendering of Ian McShane as Captain Blackbeard in the Pirates of the Caribbean Attractions at Disney Parks

On February 11, actor Ian McShane appeared on a soundstage in Los Angeles for a very special “head shot” – one that will soon be featured in the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.

Captain Blackbeard will make his appearance on the ghostly waterfall in the grotto scenes of the park attractions beginning May 20, coinciding with the release of the new film, “Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides,” in which McShane plays a starring role.

Walt Disney Imagineering writer Michael Sprout (who wrote the script for Bill Nighy as Davy Jones several years ago) was on hand to direct the special shoot with Ian McShane. Michael said, “He came in wearing his complete Blackbeard costume, including the sword, saying it helped him stay in character!”

Look for Blackbeard soon in this classic attraction, and the return of Davy Jones later this year.
