Players will get to battle it out through four all-new maps featuring iconic areas such as Cloud City, the Administrator’s Palace, Bioniip Laboratories, and carbon-freezing chambers.

In addition to the new maps, players will gain access to a new hero, Lando Calrissian, and a new villain, Dengar the bounty hunter. Both characters will have blasters, as well as their own unique abilities. Lando will be able to “use tricks against his enemies”, while Dengar wields a DLT-19, making him “the first Hero with a heavy blaster so far”.

Two new weapons will be added to the game’s arsenal, the X-8 Night Sniper and EE-4 blaster, though not much else is known about these weapons. Below is a picture of the EE-4 blaster.

VIDEO: EA is Making a Ton of New Star Wars Video Games: Battlefront 2 & More!

On Sunday evening, EA held their E3 event called “EA PLAY”. During the show, the company laid out the future of their Star Wars games for the next few years.

future-of-ea-star-wars

Throughout the rest of 2016, EA will continue to support games like Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and Star Wars: The Old Republic with tons of new content, some of it will even be free! In December, Battlefront will receive a new premium DLC that has yet to be specified, leading most to speculate it will be a Rogue One tie-in.

Things start to get really interesting in 2017, when developers DICE and Motive release a new Star Wars Battlefront game, presumably Battlefront 2. The sequel is said to include a single-player campaign, which the first one lacked. For now, EA has just said that the game will include “significant additions”.

In 2018, players will get the Star Wars game that everyone has been so eagerly waiting for. The team at Visceral, makers of Dead Space, will be bringing an action adventure Star Wars game that is set in an all-new Star Wars universe. The game is expected to have a large emphasis on great story telling, thanks to the collaboration with writer Amy Hennig (writer for the Uncharted series).

Finally, EA mentioned that Respawn Entertainment (creators of Titanfall) is hard at work on a new third-person action Star Wars game. No specific release window was provided for the game, though it was mentioned that this Star Wars title will take place on a different timeline that has not been visited before in any other Star Wars game.

Officially titled Star Wars Battlefront X-Wing VR Mission, the game is just that. Developer Criterion Games will be bringing this experience for free to anyone that already owns Star Wars Battlefront on PS4.

James Svensson, a producer at Criterion, had this to say, “You will be instantaneously transported from the comfort of your living room to an X-wing cockpit in space”.

As seen in the image above, the art features the cast of The Force Awakens looking stoic, along with a beautiful rendering of the characters of Rogue One. Alongside the Rogue One cast are a squadron of death troopers — the black-armored stormtroopers seen in the film’s trailer — and the first clear look at the brand new shoretrooper on the bottom left. Also on the poster is a new class of AT-AT: the AT-ACT, or All Terrain Armored Cargo Transport. The key art will be featured on merchandise throughout Celebration, and available to purchase as a poster.

Here is a closeup of the new AT-ACT and the new Shoretropper. I’m calling it, the AT-ACT’s emerge from the sea.

Disney Not Happy With First Cut Of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

Screen+Shot+2016-04-07+at+13.03.30-ed

Disney executives have viewed the first cut of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and feel that the film does not live up to expectations. The film will undergo reshoots this summer in order to address issues before it’s December 16th release date. With this being the first “Star Wars” spinoff film, it has to establish a good precedent and Disney does not want to leave anything to chance.

From Page Six:

One Hollywood source told us, “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.”

‘Rogue One’ has fallen short of what J.J. Abrams did with ‘Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens.’ So Disney has ordered reshoots.”

Gareth Edwards is well-known as a risk-taking director, but has also been reported to prefer to keep studio influence at a minimum. The source added, “Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

A Disney source added, “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off The Force Awakens, there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

Details Of The “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Reshoots

RONE

Well, we’ve got good news and bad news. It all depends on how you look at it. The Disney executives that viewed the first cut of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” really saw some  things that they did not like and the reshoots are a lot bigger than what I was expecting.

According to MakingStarWars.com:

  • Some crew initially heard J.J. Abrams was supervising the reshoots.
  • Gareth Edwards is doing the reshoots himself but with a partner, Christopher McQuarrie.
  • Christopher McQuarrie, the final writer on Rogue One will be working extensively with Edwards onset to make sure they’re on the “same page” with the most recent draft of the film.
  • Christopher McQuarrie’s draft of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was considered superior to the film they shot previously.
  • It was not Edwards’ fault as McQuarrie’s draft wasn’t completed when much of the film was shot and revisions kept coming in that made the film feel uneven.
  • 32 sets have been recreated for the reshoot.
  • The crew expects they are reshooting 40% of the film.
  • They are working 6 days a week for 8 weeks.

They are reshooting 40% of the film and for two months? That’s a lot! They are bringing in J.J. Abrams to help with the reshoots? I don’t think they would do so if there were not some major issues. And for the “Star Wars Story” not to be finished while they were filming, sounds like they may have been rushing things.

Yes, it seems bad but the good thing is they are addressing the issues, taking things seriously and it makes me feel better to know that Abrams is supervising the reshoots.

Will the movie be delayed? “Rogue One” is scheduled to be released on December 16th. If they cant work all of this out in two months, it has a strong possibility. Let’s hope that things work out but I would rather them delay the film if it’s not all that it could be then be stuck with a bad movie.

Star Wars Launches Most Authentic Line of Prop Replicas Ever Created

Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition offers fans a completely new way of experiencing ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Disney and Lucasfilm today launched Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition bringing an unprecedented level of authenticity to prop replica products for fans. Made to order by propmakers at Propshop in Pinewood Studios using digital data collected during filming of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the production process marries cutting edge 3D printing technology with master craftsmanship to produce replicas virtually identical to those seen on screen. Available initially in the U.S., starwarsultimatestudioedition.com is the exclusive location to purchase these products.

“We’re delighted to be able to produce such a groundbreaking line of merchandise,” said James Enright, Assets Director and CEO of Propshop. “Designed, made and finished by the hands of specialist motion picture prop makers and artists, we’ve worked extremely hard to create something that we know would make fans and filmmakers proud.”

The initial offering from the Star Wars Collectibles line features eight prop replicas from Star Wars: The Force Awakens including Darth Vader’s melted helmet, Rey’s lightsaber hilt, FN-2187 Stormtrooper helmet and more. Each replica item is a limited production piece due to the high level of craftsmanship required to create them.

These made-to-order replicas will come with custom display pedestals, packed in branded wooden crates that are inspired by the real crates used to ship the film props. Each one is custom built to accommodate the shape of the replica inside.

“We are continually looking for new ways to extend the storytelling from movies in innovative ways,” said Josh Silverman, executive vice president of global licensing at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “We’ve worked hand in hand with the film makers and talented team at Propshop to create a unique product experience for fans and we’re excited to see their reactions to these incredible prop replicas.”

Visit Disney’s YouTube channel to view the latest installment of their “Boxed” series to get a behind-the-scenes look at Darth Vader’s melted helmet being created; then tune in each month to see reveals of new items added to the Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition line. Hong Kong Disneyland celebrated Star Wars Day yesterday by announcing that the Star Wars Universe would be coming to its park starting June 11th.

The popular “Hyperspace Mountain”, a re-imagining of Space Mountain, will make the way to Hong Kong( among other offerings) starting this June. Guests can also flex their lightsaber skills while facing off against villains such as Darth Vader, the Seventh Sister and Kylo Ren in the new Jedi Training: Trials Of The Temple.

Last but not least, you can also join the Resistance and meet Chewbacca in a hidden base that’s being called “Star Wars: Command Post”.

13178009_1078177825559354_6634871738917781601_n

To complete the experience, there will also be Star Wars-themed food and merchandise available.

If  you wish the experience to follow you back to your room, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Hollywood Hotel will also be offering Star Wars-themed room decoration packages, which include an exclusive Star Wars door sticker, slippers, bed runner and a themed chocolate and cookies set.

While some of the offering may not stay, many of these additions may become permanent fixtures of the park. Rumor has it that Hyperspace Mountain may remain until a Star Wars attraction is built for the park, since it does not already have one.
