PHOTOS, VIDEO: Enhanced Big Thunder Trail Opens at Disneyland, The Portal to Star Wars Land

Our friends over at Fresh Baked Disney have provided us with some photos of the newly reopened Big Thunder Trail at Disneyland Park, the first part of the park which was closed for the construction of Star Wars Land to return into service:

 width=

What has been construction walls for the better part of a year and a half is now open again.

 width=

While this bridge was here before, it now has some new lanterns on it.

 width=

 width=

Work continues on the new edge of the Rivers of America, as well as the new train trestle for the Disneyland Railroad.

 width=

Thankfully, the old cave from Mine Train Thru Nature’s Wonderland survived.

 width=

The trail looks fairly different now, with extensive rock work and props taking the place of the entrance to Big Thunder Ranch.

 width=

 width=

The new elements are just as well themed as anything around it and look as if they have been here since the early days of Big Thunder Mountain.

 width=

 width=

These new structures will block the guest view of Star Wars Land from Frontierland.

 width=

 width=

 width=

The Big Thunder Ranch logo can be found on the lamp sitting on the rock in this picture, a nod to the past.

 width=

 width=

The opposite side of the path is still pretty much as it was before.

VIDEO: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Multiplayer Revealed, DLC Will Be Free Instead of Season Pass

EA showed off Star Wars Battlefront II‘s multiplayer for the first time during the EA Play event in Los Angeles.

The reveal was made with a trailer that showcases Naboo for the first time in the series, as well as some new characters that will be playable like Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Yoda, and Rey.

http://https://youtu.be/_q51LZ2HpbE

Battlefront II seeks to address all the issues that players had with the first game. In fact, EA is boasting that this new game has three times more content than the first one did. Battlefront II has more weapons, customization options, power-ups, etc. EA even claims that the gunplay has been retooled to feel better than ever.

After the game comes out, additional maps, characters, and vehicles will all be released for free. EA is referring to the game’s content launches as “seasons” and will keep the game fresh in between “seasons” by offering daily challenges, quests, and more to reward and incentivize players. The first content release will be out in December, and will feature content related to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This first release will include characters Finn and Captain Phasma, as well as new planet Crait.

Star Wars Battlefront II will also offer split screen co-op for online matches, not just horde mode, though this feature will unfortunately be exclusive to console versions of the game.

For a deeper look at the game’s multiplayer, here is IGN’s video featuring a full match on the “Assault on Theed” map that will be included in the game.

Star Wars Battlefront II will release on November 17, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Those that pre-order the game will gain early access to a beta sometime later this year.

PHOTOS, VIDEO: Star Wars Land Construction Update at Disneyland Park for June 10th, 2017

Thanks to our friends over at Fresh Baked Disney, we have another weekly look at how the construction of Star Wars land is going over at Disneyland Park. Here is a look at the project as of June 10th, 2017:

The race is on to complete the new riverbank for the Rivers of America before the 4th of July crowds arrive.

Trees are being moved into place currently, a good sign as landscaping usually is one of the last phases of a project like this.

Looking at the Star Wars site, we can see that they are getting close to enclosing the strange circular room which may be part of the pre-show experience for the “Battle Escape” attraction.

PHOTOS, VIDEO: Toy Story Land Entrance, Writer’s Stop Gutted, Star Wars Land Expands in Latest Studios Update

It has been a while since we have seen any major changes in the Hollywood Studios landscape, but now with the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom complete, it’s full speed ahead to Toy Story Land and the much-anticipated Star Wars themed land.

We have a video of all of the construction to share with you below, but we’ll then share pictures and give you a more in-depth description of the work following that.

 width=

We start over by MuppetVision 3-D…

 width=

The former Writer’s Stop has been stripped down to its bare steel.

 width=

 width=

 width=

A lot of work now happening in the area the was New York Street.

 width=

The barrier of Star Wars Land is just steps away, still rising.

 width=

A look from the balcony of PizzeRizzo doesn’t reveal much.

 width=

Most of the facade of Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream is covered with tarps, with the image of Walt removed from the marquee.

 width=

 width=

The backside of the marquee is completely gone.

 width=

This area will be the entrance to Toy Story Land, but it remains unclear how this transition will work.

 width=

 width=

For now, it appears that these original structures from 1989 will survive the demolition.

 width=

 width=

At the end of PIXAR Place, the walls are now appropriately Star Wars-related, as Toy Story Land is not actually located on this side. The walls also extended right up to the exit of the 3rd track at Toy Story Midway Mania.

 width=

The walls feature the artwork for Star Wars Land, but it is strangely not-centered and instead located in an alley behind some trees.

 width=

 width=

 width=

A cast member access pathway is all that is down this alleyway.

As always, stay tuned for more updates on the expansion of Disney’s Hollywood Studios as it progresses.

Disney Is Preparing For “Solo” To Bomb At The Box Office

 width=

After the mixed reception by Star Wars fans concerning “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”, it seems Disney is preparing itself for the worst when “Solo: A Star Wars Story” comes out this May.

According to Screen Geek:

A source close to the film’s production has informed us:

Disney is bracing themselves for the Han Solo movie to bomb. They were worried about it before all The Last Jedi controversy, but now they’re essentially writing Solo off. The lead actor, Alden Ehrenreich, can’t act, and they had a dialogue coach on hand for all of his scenes. On top of that, the script is unworkable. It’s going to be a car crash.

I hate to say it but Disney is behaving like Warner Brothers when they tried to mirror the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Warner Brothers should have taken their time with releasing individual superhero movies accumulating to the formation of Justice League, but Warner Brothers wanted Avengers like box office money right away, and now they are stuck with a mess on their hands.

Disney knows it is sitting on a gold mine with Star Wars and feels it’s necessary to have a Star Wars movie released annually in order to apply that box office revenue to their year end earnings. But if you dont have a good story, just dont bother making the movie. The consumers of today have a lot more access to reviews from both critics and audiences that have seen a particular movie that they are interested in, and if those scores are low, they are going to save their hard earned money for another movie.

Disney’s goal should always be quality over quantity.

Here is hoping for the best, but like Disney, prepare for the worst when Solo is released on May 25, 2018.

PHOTOS, VIDEO: New Preview Film & Model of Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge Unveiled at Disneyland, Disney World

Guests visiting Star Wars Launch Bay at Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are now being treated to a new preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, opening in 2019 at both parks.

 width=

A small section of the model of the entire land that was on display at the D23 Expo this year is on display now at Disneyland’s Launch Bay. Walt Disney Presents at Hollywood Studios has had a different section on display since September.

 width=

In addition, the Star Wars Launch Bay film was updated on both coasts to include a new, never-before-seen preview of the 14-acre land coming to Disney Parks:

So, what do you think of this new preview?

PHOTOS, VIDEO: Aerial Construction Update On Star Wars – Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios

For the first time in a while, we take to the skies above Disney’s Hollywood Studios to see the latest progress on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land

 width=

To the left is Toy Story Land, to the right is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

 width=

 width=

In the lower center, you can see the recently topped-off highest point in Galaxy’s Edge, some of the rock-work that resides above the show building for the Millennium Falcon attraction.

Here we take a closer look. From the top center, going counter-clockwise: Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, Millennium Falcon attraction, and the “Battle Escape” attraction.

Toy Story Land is set to open in Summer 2018, with Star Wars:Galaxy’s Edge to follow sometime in 2019.

First Look At Han, Chewie and Lando From “Solo: A Star Wars Story”

 width=

This image has not been officially confirmed, but it looks like the real deal to me. With only 5 months to go until the release of “Solo”, we should be getting some promotional material and this could be the first one. This originally was posted on reddit and the image originates somewhere from Russia, as you can see by the writing in the main title. In this image we see Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich), Lando Calrisian (Donald Glover) and Kira (Emilia Clarke).

And another potential image has also leaked. Seems to be the reverse image of the above image plus the addition of The Millennium Falcon.
