LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2017) – It was 1987 when the winning quarterback in Super Bowl XXI began a tradition of going to Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate. That would carve out a place synonymous with glory and achievement in sports and other human endeavor.

Thirty years later, that same honor fell to running back James White, a hero of Super Bowl LI in Houston. White caught one touchdown pass and rushed for two others – including the game-winner in overtime – to help rally his team to an epic, come-from-behind 34-28 victory over Atlanta to capture the NFL Championship.

For his on-field heroics, White was honored with a celebratory parade Monday down Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park. Park guests and NFL fans alike lined the iconic street as White smiled and waved from a float he shared with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters.

Afterwards, White posed for photos with Mickey and Minnie and enjoyed some fun time in the park, experiencing some of its most popular attractions such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

That continued a 30-year tradition of the Super Bowl hero celebrating his team’s victory at Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort.

Giants 21, Patriots 17, SB Vinylmation $18.95

Update: 2/6/12 The DisneyStore.com updated the picture on the SB commemorative figure to represent the Giants designed figure.

Apparently it is the same figure as we showed you in the ad from last night. I’m a little disappointed in the design as I thought this was just a placeholder. Other than the logo on the chest, it doesn’t really say New York Giants. The colors are a generic red and yellow instead of Giant blue. I suppose it is possible this is also a placeholder. Also of note, the status of the figure has been changed to backordered.

The website state “this item will ship in 4 week.” Makes sense, I wouldn’t expect them to have produced both and have them ready to ship

2/5/12 Much to this podcast host’s dismay, the New York Giants colors and logo will adorn Disney’s commemorative Vinylmation.

Note the small print: “Site image will be updated to reflect the NYG mid-Monday morning PT.” Here is a screen shot of the DisneyStore.com’s listing as of about an hour after the game.

You can actually add this item to your cart and purchase it right now. Guess Eli Manning saved me $18.95 tonight. This limited release vinyl complete with Super Bowl XLVI logo on helmet was designed by Eric Caszatt. The price is a bit higher than the regular NFL teams figures, but it is a commemorative item. What say you Giants fans… adding this to your collection?

Super Vinylmation Sunday!

This Sunday the Patriots face the Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. After the game, Disney will release a special commemorative figure designed by Eric Caszatt that will feature the winning teams colors and log on the front of the jersey. This figure will be available online only and is limited release, not edition. Does this new figure appeal to Vinylmation fans outside the Patriots and Giants fans? Also, I’d rather see a figure like this an LE, not limited release. How about you?
