Tailspin, Delivery Service Delivered

On a happy note, we did get our Tailspin’s today. (Only 6 days later, that’s pretty cool) Let’s avoid all the controversy for now and just take a look at the first set of the Disney Afternoon Series.

First off, the back of the box is awesome. While the front and sides are covered with the paint splatters that were reminiscent of the Disney Afternoons promos, the back was a big change. A nice black background with shiny black lines covering it. The lines form pictures of Louie the bartender, Kit, Baloo, and Molly. The back also notes the edition size: 1000. Both hats look nice, with Baloo’s cap actually an accessory. And for all you Combo Contest fans, it does come off!

Here are the backs of the figures. Nothing all that interesting, just a couple of tails and some details clumps of hair.

And here’s a look under the feet of each figure. Here they note the edition size, the name of the character and series, and the name of the artist, Christopher Chapman.

Did you get your set today? What do you think of the figures now that you actually own them?

Added Insult to Insult to Injury: The TailSpin Vinylmation Saga

As if changing the dates, making us wait for the release, retro-actively changing the prices on blog posts and not owning up to it… Disney sent me this today:

It’s my TailSpin Vinylmation! But wait! What’s this on the bottom?

Are you kidding me Disney!!! You can take the time to jack up the price to $26.95 at the online store. You can go back and edit all your previously dated blog posts. But you can’t change the price tag on the item you charged me $26.95 for. After not owning up to it, that’s just insulting. Shame on you Disney. I am writing the customer service department and I encourage you to do the same. Just go to the DisneyStore.com page and click on “contact us” and fill out the email form.

In case you missed it, check out our post calling attention to the price change with a screen shot of the $24.95 price Disney went back and changed after our post.

What do you think of this TailSpin saga?

Tailspin Sells Out

As of 8:30 PM 3/2/11, Tailspin is Sold Out at DisneyStore.com. That means it took less than 7 hours to go through 1000 sets! Although, there didn’t seem to be any limit on how many you could buy, so we don’t know how many people actually got them. Also, this doesn’t mean there are none left. Several times we’ve seen them showing a Sold Out, just to offer more a few days later (Like the Holiday 2 Snowglobe 9″). Keep checking back with us and we’ll keep an eye out for more changes.

What would be interesting to know is how many people bought them without noticing the quick price change from yesterday? Also, did anyone NOT buy them because of the price change? How many did you get? Leave us a comment.

What the Tail!

Update: 8:30 PM As of now, Tailspin is sold out in the Disney Store.
Update: 3:11 PM Well, Disney went and changed the price on the blog they missed, so now it’s all gone.

We now know the answer as to why we had to wait so long to get Tailspin today. It’s because Disney needed the extra time to change the price to $26.95 from $24.95. They needed the extra time to go back and and change all the mentions of the price to $26.95 in their blog posts. They forgot one, the Disney Parks Blog still have the article, and it still had the original price.

We joked about it when Facebook was confused by the release date because they changed all previous mentions to March 2nd from the 5th. But then this snuck in while we were waiting and without much notice.

So does this mean the whole series will change price??

Update: 3:11 PM Maybe it will, minutes after we posted this, Disney went and changed the Disney Parks Blog. It now says, “$26.95” Uncool.

Let us know how you feel about this in the comment section of this post! (Please refrain from cursing however)

Thanks to Scuba Owl and Kermit528 for mentioning this!

I Heard the Roar of an Plane Engine!

Update: 8:30 PM As of now, Tailspin is sold out in the Disney Store.
Update: 1:43 PM Tailspin is now available. Spin it Spin it Spin it. And the price has been raised to $26.95!!!

Update: 12:25 PM I wrote this almost 12 hours ago to express my joy over ordering Tailspin. That soon faded as I stayed up all night waiting for the set to appear at the Disney Store Online. Well it’s still not here. But keep checking back as we will keep you apprised on the situation.

Now is the time to book that flight to Cape Suzette. Baloo has the plane all gassed up and Kit Cloudkicker is ready to navigator. So fine your way over the the DisneyStore.com and pick up this combo set for only $24.95 $26.95. I just did, you should too. There’s only 1000, so I don’t expect them to be available for very long. Then, touch and go over to our Disney Afternoons Post to read up on the rest of the fleet that will be landing in D-Street stores later this year.

Spin it, spin it, spin it, Talespin!

Baloo the pilot (complete with pilot’s cap) and Kit Cloudkicker have joined us for the Talespin two pack from the Disney Afternoon’s series. This will be the first set from the series to be released. (Does this mean we won’t see Rebecca Cunningham in Vinylmation form?)

What other Disney cartoons would you like to see a set about?
