Bakery Online

Several people were hoping that the Bakery series (released today at D-Street) would be online. It is! Well, kinda. The Marie, Minnie, and Tink cupcakes are available, but not the other three. The price is $11.95.

Another Trading Night for WDW Announced

Today, Disney announced that Walt Disney World Florida would get another trading night on July 8th. It will be in the Contemporary Resort in the Fantasia J Ballroom from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Woohoo! These have always been a lot of fun. Be sure to be early, last time the line was huge!!!!!!!

Spotlight On: Custom Vinylmation Artist Joseph

We previously talked to Custom Artist Joseph about his BioShock 9″, now he is back with Anatomical Vinylmation.
In his own words from his Joe of War Customs Blog, Joseph talks about his newest creation:
This custom Vinylmation started out as just fooling around with a 3″ white blank figure. I wanted to see how easy it would be to chop one in half, so I took a hair dryer to soften the vinyl, and a very big knife and boom! Easy as that. Next was coming up with something interesting to actually do with the vinyl. I stewed around with some ideas for a few days and finally settled on making an anatomical Mickey.
I thought it would be cool to show the insides of a Mickey without being too gross and graphic. I think I pulled it off with some cute details and only a few dabs of blood on the brain.

The lungs, intestines, brain, ear brain, cartoony heart, and realistic heart were sculpted with Aves Apoxie. Rare earth magnets about 1/16 of an inch can be used to interchange the cartoony and realistic heart like an accessory.
I painted the outside muscles in patterns so they would look like they could move independantly. My girlfriend thought it would be cool to do part of the head as a skull and the other part as muscle tissue. I took Val’s advice and love how it turned out thanks babe!!!
For the skull half, I painted the pie eye with some brain seen through it. The only marker I used was for the teeth and the crack on the top of the skull. I made the crack in the skull so that the ear would look like it was brain sort of coming out of the skull just for a cool effect.
Finally for a base I tried to give it a rusty metal feel, so I gave a McFarlane Halo helmet display a full repaint. Added more magnets to the top of the base, and Mickey’s head stays on easily (even weighing as much as it does with all that Apoxie brain!)

Bakery Explained

Update: Price now confirmed by photo of poster at D-Street!!

Update: 6/1/11 On Facebook, Kevin from CA, confirmed a price tag of $11.95. We assume that the price will be the same here in Florida. Once we get visual confirmation, we’ll let ya know! This is cheaper then I expected with all the extra vinyl, what do you think of the price tag??

Update: 5/19/11 Disney has announced a release date of June 3 at D-Street FL and CA. They also released pictures and an exciting reveal.

As some people have predicted, the icing is removable revealing the character’s head inside. Right now, we only have a picture of the Mickey with icing off, but they also released pictures of Cheshire Cat and Tinkerbell (see below). This set will be sold in open window boxes and was changed from being limited edition to an open ended production number.
Open Window Box Bakery Series

Update: 4/20/11 While looking at the Disney Vinylmation Vault today I noticed that they added Bakery to the list. This usually means that it’s out already, or that it’s really close to release. What do you think? Might it be out in a foreign Disneyland or will we get a surprise on Friday? Also we now know the artist is Susan Foy.

Update: 4/9/11 After a discussion in line at D-Street we pondered if the icing would be removable. Check out the discussion at Cute on the Inside?

4/7/11 How awesome is this? Today Disney added a sneak preview of the Bakery set to their Sneak page. And get this, The Mickey, Minnie, and Cheshire Cat look exactly like MC artistically rendered! First, they were cupcakes with frosting, like we imaged, and then they look very very similar! So check out the whole set, designed by Susan Foy, and let us know what you think!

Mickey Cupcake

Straightforward, but kinda cool. We don’t have many straight forward Mickey heads, so this will be nice.

Minnie Cupcake

Also simple in design, but perfect in execution!

Cheshire Cat Cupcake

Purple stripes, with little tuffs of hair at the top. (Hair in a cupcake? ewwwww) Look at that signature big grin! Nice and colorful… great looking piece. “Makes me want a real Cheshire Cat figure.” – Nick

Marie Cupcake

“Lots more detail here, but I surprisingly am starting to like this Bakery set.” – M.C.
“Like the paw prints, but another Marie design?” – Nick

Tinkerbell Cupcake

I wonder how shinny the glitter is? A very Tink design, the wink is a nice touch. “This is why Princesses are going to be a problem, the head is just to fat for Tink’s look and she looks boyish to me.” – Nick

Confetti Mickeys Cupcake

“Wow, a fail for the final one. Why not do another character? Donald? Snow White?” – M.C. (before removal of icing) “Great surprise underneath! Like the facial expression.” – Nick

Susana Gay vs the Light Meter

Susana Gay, the artist behind the 9″ Urban 6 Light Meter figure took some fun pics of the piece along with an old camera and an actual light meter. So, even though the piece is sold out online, you still have a chance to see some of the coolness. Susana also lets slip that the numbers on the right arm are a secret code. We think it’s probably to her husband, Will.

Spotlight On: Vinylmation Soap

Today we feature a special custom Vinylmation. Remember those Ice Cube trays released awhile back? Well one Vinylmation Collector is using those trays to make Vinylmation Soap. Her name is Claudia (not the Claudia with the Mickey and Minnie Customs). We caught up with Claudia  at the last event and she told us all about it. And if your interested in purchasing some, her contact info can be found below.

Destination Vinylmation: How did you come up with the idea for making Vinylmation Soap?
Claudia: The idea was born because I love Vinylmations, and one day I was looking at them and thought that it would be cool if they could be used for something else, like soap. I found the right molding and gave it a try, they came out looking so cute, that I decided to offer them to all the Vinylmation collectors out there.

DV: That’s a really cool idea. A nice conversation starter at the house.

Claudia: I believe they can be a great item for the house or even for party favors.

DV: I see you have different kinds. What are the colors and fragrances available?

Claudia: The colors are based on the primary colors, I adjust the tones or mix them to have a nice variety of colors to match every taste. As for the fragrances, I use any of the following: tropical, citrus, lemon, vanilla, cucumber, lavender, orange, coconut, almond, green apple. If I don’t have it, I can try to find it. I can make any color and fragrance combination. The bases available are: Ultra Clear, Goats Milk or White glycerin.

DV: I see some of them are even sparkling.

Claudia: Glitter can be added by request to the clear soap, or jojoba spheres for exfoliating.

DV: How can people order your Vinylmation Soap?

Claudia: The price is 6 pieces for $5.00 plus $2.50 for shipping and handling. I also make discounts on bulk orders. I send the items via USPS first class or USPS Priority (in bigger orders) and only accept payments with paypal. For orders please contact me via email: vinylmationcreations@yahoo.com
or by Phone: 321-278-9252.

Let The Trading Begin!

Fellow Vinylmation collectors are sharing their Disney Store Experiences below. Join in the conversation… send us some pictures of trading at your area Disney Store!

Disney Stores accross the country are now getting into the spirit of trading Vinylmation. Over the past few weeks, the trading boxes were shipped all accross the country and today marks the first official day of trading at Disney Stores. As of right now, just clear box trading at the stores, no big mystery boxes. Trading, weather it be Vinylmation or Pins, is an essential part of the guest interaction that makes Disney so special. It is great to see trading in the stores. In fact, The Playwright in New York, NY sent us these pics from the Times Square Disney Store:

Big Baby! Good to see things are consistent both at the Parks and Stores.
The Playwrite traded his Cutesters Too Tiger Kid for the Fairy Godmother.
Send in pictures of Vinylmation Trading at your local Disney Stores and let us know how you like it. For more information about Trading Vinylmation, check out our Trading Pages.
Christopher from Indiana
Here in northwest Indiana, the Merrilville store had three figures in an open box. I was the first one in the store and the first to trade. I traded a rain coat girl from cutesters 2 for a queen bee from Urban 6. It was open box of 3. There were no special or exclusive figures and the cast members said they had not been sent anything special from Disney for the trading boxes. Hopefully if trading goes well, Disney will expand the in store trading.
Tyler from Colorado –
I brought my Big Baby to trade of course…. and the cast member said one of her co-workers was wanting that one! I guess out here in the middle of the country Big Baby is wanted!

JT from NJ –
Freehold NJ store had a Woody (in the clear box!)

Tyler C from Colorado
I stopped by the Disney store today with Big Baby and Dodger in hand to trade. I traded the two for Lotso and Radcliffe. They did have the card with Lotso, so guessing he may have been one of the Vinyls they put in the case originally. I asked the Cast Member if they had many people trading, she said not many, more people were asking her what they were.

Exclusive Dublin Disney Store Vinylmation

Well, there’s more out there. After learning about London, NYC, and San Fransisco exclusives, today @TheRealWeinbeez pointed us to the DisneyPinForum.com where Stitch2814 posted a picture of an exclusive Dublin vinylmation.

Dublin Shamrocks

Looks pretty cool. Reminds me of the St. Patrick’s Day pieces from the Holidays series.

So what city do you think the next one will pop up in.
