Commemorate 35 Years of Epcot With WDWCelebrations, Including a Spectacular IllumiNations Dessert Party, at “Celebration 35”

In just a few weeks, WDWCelebrations will gather like-minded fans at the Walt Disney World® Resort to celebrate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the opening of EPCOT Center®, the theme park that broke the mold upon its debut in 1982. Exactly ten years after the historic Celebration 25 event that gathered over twelve hundred guests to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Epcot® in October 2007, WDWCelebrations aims to celebrate the past, present and future of the world’s most unique theme park once again! The WDWCelebrations organization was born from the response to Celebration 25, and since that time has hosted an additional eleven unique events, each celebrating the magic of the Disney Parks while raising money for charity.

Celebration 35, a WDWCelebrations Commemorative Event

It has been the privilege of WDWCelebrations to host guests from around the world for the past nine years, and it is a special honor to celebrate the organization’s 10th anniversary this October with Celebration 35, a WDWCelebrations Commemorative Event. This new event at the Walt Disney World® Resort will encompass four days of fun, friends, and surprises. As with previous events, this celebration will include WDWCelebrations’ signature offerings to complement the official activities offered by The Walt Disney Company.

The four-day event, set for Thursday – Sunday, September 28 – October 1, 2017, will celebrate the anniversary in a grand way. Planned activities will complement the popular Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival and guests will be able to share in a visit to Pandora, the World of Avatar, the newest offering at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. Guests will enjoy their favorite WDWCelebrations signature offerings such as scavenger hunts, group rides, group meals, and, of course, a few very special surprises. Check out the WDWCelebrations web site for more details and a tentative schedule.

Celebration 35’s IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth Dessert Party on October 1

WDWCelebrations is pleased to announce the return of the Illuminations: Reflections of Earth Dessert Party, a significant piece of WDWCelebrations’ history and a fan favorite for many years. As was experienced during Celebration 25 and Celebration 30 five years later, guests will once again have the chance to enjoy delectable dessert options on the water’s edge of World Showcase Lagoon with a premium view of the classic nighttime spectacular as it lights up the night sky. On previous park anniversaries, Epcot has added a special anniversary tag to IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth that rivals, if not surpasses, the popular July 4th and New Years Eve tags.

How to Register for Celebration 35, Including the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth Dessert Party

WDWCelebrations charges a nominal fee to event attendees which covers organizational costs. Additionally, a significant portion of the registration fees are donated to the Give Kids The World Village, the WDWCelebrations Charity Initiative charity of choice for Celebration 35 and many previous events. Registration for Celebration 35 costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-15.  Guests also have the option to donate additional funds to this event’s Charity Initiative when registering. The IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth Dessert Party is an additional cost of $69.99 per person, and tickets can be purchased during the event registration process. About WDWCelebrations

As Epcot® prepared to celebrate its 25th anniversary in October 2007, the online Disney community was in an uproar over the apparent lack of official acknowledgement of this historic park’s milestone. In response to the Internet furor, a group of individuals decided to step up and create a fan-based event – dubbed Celebration 25 – to properly celebrate the silver anniversary. Over 1200 like-minded fans registered to attend the event. The Celebration 25 event was officially embraced by Disney management and was given the rare privilege of working closely with the management and staff of Epcot® to provide in-park event check-in, group history walks, a press conference, and a private dessert party. At the end of the day, the attendees knew they had been a part of something special – and something they didn’t want to end. Out of this demand, an idea was born: to celebrate the many anniversaries, milestones, and bonds between those who share a love for Walt Disney World. WDWCelebrations was born. And since that time, each of their unique events have offered guests the chance to celebrate the magic of the Disney Parks’ past, present and future, together.

WDWCelebrations “Celebration 35” IllumiNations Dessert Party Almost Sold Out

This is just a reminder to those contemplating attending the WDWCelebrations Celebration 35 event, taking place Thursday – Sunday, September 28 – October 1, 2017.

Although registration for the event will remain open until September 27, the popular IllumiNations Dessert Party on October 1 has a limited capacity and is currently 75% sold out. Because the event capacity is dictated by Disney Park Operations based on the size of the venue, we cannot sell more tickets after we have reached full capacity.

In case you missed our previous post detailing what WDWCelebrations is all about, we’ve reprinted it below.

Over the past nine years, the organization has raised money and supported fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Toys for Tots, the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and Give Kids the World. One such family member, Darrel Gaudet has been diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and we are asking for your support in donating to his wife Michele’s fundraising efforts. Your donation can help to cover medical expenses that will continue to grow as Darrel’s care continues. WDWNT: The Magazine – A WDW Celebrations Event: Flora, Fauna, and Fantasy!

A WDW Celebrations Event: Flora, Fauna, and Fantasy!

by Patty Granger

On April 19th, 2013, WDWCelebrations held their eighth Disney fan event. The event, Flora, Fauna, and Fantasy included a visit to New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom®, a stroll through the blooms of the Epcot® International Flower and Garden Festival, and ended with a celebration of the anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Park.

Who is WDWCelebrations, you may ask? WDWCelebrations is a not-for-profit, unofficial Disney fan organization. The group kicked off its first fan event, Celebration 25, in 2007. Since then they have been holding events that are not only about gathering Disney fans together but also focus on giving back to the community. Each event raises money for a designated charity. The event this past April raised $550 for Give Kids the World.

I had the great pleasure of attending Flora, Fauna, and Fantasy and it was a trip that will NOT soon be forgotten. This was my first opportunity to enjoy an entire WDWCelebrations event, having only been able to previously stop in for one day at Project XL: The World at 40. There was another significance this particular trip to Disney. This was my first solo trip to the World!

The great thing about WDWCelebrations events are that you don’t have to go with friends and family, you can show up to an event not knowing anybody attending and find yourself new friends once it’s over. So if you have opted not to go to a Celebrations event in the past because you didn’t have anyone to go with or didn’t know anyone who was attending DON’T let that stop you from going to a future event. In my opinion, the best part about attending a WDWCelebrations event is all the amazing fellow fans you meet over the course of an event. Everyone is there to meet old and new friends alike and it seemed like everyday I was meeting someone new. Meeting fellow fans wasn’t the only highlight of the trip though, here are several other highlights of the weekend:

Eating at Be Our Guest restaurant,

Witnessing a party of 60 or so get on Living with the Land for a group ride,

Running around Animal Kingdom for a scavenger hunt,

And being picked to be in the parade at Animal Kingdom.

These are just a few of the many events that took place over the course of the weekend. Like I said it was a trip not soon forgotten. I know in the future I will be making every effort to attend any events WDWCelebrations throws. So who will be attending WDWCelebrations next event, Studio 25?

Core Team Member Marcus D’Amelio notes that “with such a significant anniversary comes a larger territory to cover—and WDWCelebrations hasn’t downsized any aspect of this Commemorative Event for our guests. We’ve supersized our guests’ favorite activities and stepped up the games to bring Project XL to another level. We’ve got big things in the works, so this will definitely be one WDWCelebrations event you won’t want to miss!”

Project XL: The World at 40 is the latest Commemorative Event from WDWCelebrations LLC, a fan-based not-for-profit organization co-founded by Jason Diffendal and Adam Roth following the response of the hugely successful event, Celebration 25, which welcomed over twelve hundred guests in celebration of the 25th anniversary of EPCOT Center at the Walt Disney World Resort. Since Celebration 25, WDWCelebrations LLC has hosted five other events: A Wild Decade, World Wide Weekend, Studio 20, Fifty-Five, and Holiday Hoopla.

WDWCelebrations Announces Two New WDW Events

The WDWNT Network is proud to have renewed its partnership with WDWCelebrations, the same group that led fan celebrations for Epcot’s 25th anniversary, Animal Kingdom’s 10th anniversary, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ 20th anniversary. The group announced two new upcoming Florida events this week that I think you’ll be interested in:

WDWCelebrations Returns to Florida for a “Holiday Hoopla!” in December 2010, and a Celebration of the Historic 40th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World® Resort in October 2011

Celebrate the holidays and Walt’s birthday during our Signature Event, Thursday-Sunday, December 2nd-5th, 2010, and mark your calendars for our mega celebration of Walt Disney World’s 40th anniversary on October 1, 2011.

The WDWCelebrations Team is excited to announce two new events at the Walt Disney World® Resort for 2010 and 2011.  While the summer of 2010 will see WDWCelebrations heading west to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Disneyland® Park, our return to Florida will be marked by a double-event homecoming of epic proportions.

WDWCelebrations is decking the halls in December 2010 with our Signature Event, “Holiday Hoopla!”.  The Walt Disney World® Resort takes on an even more magical feel during the holiday season, and WDWCelebrations is preparing to share it with you!

The four-day event, set for December 2-5, 2010, will showcase the special holiday offerings of all four theme parks as well as the resort hotels. Guests will enjoy their favorite WDWCelebrations signature offerings such as history walks, scavenger hunts, group rides, group meals, and, of course, a few very special surprises, all set to the warmth and glow of Christmastime at Walt Disney World® Resort.

The timing of the event is no coincidence; attendees will be able to enjoy the full holiday splendor of the parks at a more-relaxed pace and still be back home to spend the heart of the holidays with their families.  The event schedule also gives WDWCelebrations a chance to celebrate the anniversary of Walt Disney’s birth on December 5th with fellow Disney fans.  WDWCelebrations co-founder Jason Diffendal hints, “We’ve got a special celebration in the works for the birthday, but we’re not revealing any of Santa’s secrets just yet.”

Meanwhile, the WDWCelebrations elves are hard at work making their lists and checking them twice, with lots of preparations already underway.  Like all WDWCelebrations events, there are always plenty of little surprises, and you never know just who might show up.

Looking ahead to 2011, October 1st marks the historic 40th anniversary of the Walt Disney World® Resort.  As with our previous events, this celebration will include our own signature offerings to complement the official activities offered by the Walt Disney Company.

Adam Roth, co-founder of WDWCelebrations, explains, “The 40th anniversary marks the biggest resort-wide celebration since our inception, and we’re planning our most ambitious event to date to honor four incredible decades of magic in Central Florida.  Mark your calendars now for October 1, 2010, as this will be a celebration you won’t want to miss.”

Registration for “Holiday Hoopla!” will open in May 2010.  Registration for the 40th anniversary event will open in Spring 2011.  More information about these events will be released in the coming months via the WDWCelebrations.com website and newsletter as well as the WDWCelebrations official fan page on Facebook and the @WDWCelebrations Twitter feed.
