SPOILER!!!!!! Lion King Chaser

Update: Zoe overhead the artists saying “Oh no that is wrong” at the signing this morning….

Well according everyone (thanks for those who mentioned) this is a defective Chaser. (I saw the guy pull it out of his box) so this is the Chaser’s body with Banzai’s head. More to come…

Here is a photo from vinylmationkingdom of the real chaser and the faulty chaser…

Spotlight On: Custom Vinylmation Artist Lindsey Branch

Hi, I’m Lindsey from the U.K. I would just like to say that I think the Podcast is fantastic and I look forward to every week and I love the site it gives me my Vinylmation fix. LOL!! I’m an amateur artist and I make CYO’s as a hobby. All my CYO’s have a personal meaning to my husband and I. I had been waiting for ages to get a 9″ CYO and when i finally did I knew straight away what I was going to do.

Donald’s Miss Daisy

Donald’s Miss Daisy boat could be found, until recently, in Toontown at WDW.

Photo from WDWinfo

First I created 3 separate stages, Bottom (Red), Middle (White), Top (Yellow). Then added the wood detail, and the pink wings. I used acrylic paint and brushed it on very fine with a few coats. Daisy was the hardest to create as she has fine detail, but I am pleased with her result. I studied the boat itself and chose different bits from it that I liked most to put on to the ears. I added the tubes at the back then finally I painted the top blue for Donald’s hat.

Donald’s Miss Daisy

For my customs I chose things that have meaning to me. I have also created some resort customs (in which we spent our honeymoon) Alligator Ben to join Hippo, Archimedes to join Merlin, and a Boo to you Parade (we attended on our honeymoon).

My favorite character is Donald and my Dad’s was Daisy. It has taken me about 2 weeks to finish her but she is done and I dedicate her to my Dad. I finished on the 1st Anniversary of my Dad’s death and I know he would have loved it. As Donald built Miss Daisy for someone he loves, I re-created Miss Daisy for someone I love and miss dearly.

Donald’s Miss Daisy

My husband and I visited WDW last year on our Honeymoon and I stood for along time looking at Miss Daisy. It’s a shame she is no longer there, but will have a place in my heart and in my home forever.

Now that I have Miss Daisy and I have Goofy’s Barnstormer, I may attempt to make one for Minnie and Mickey’s houses. We loved Toontown and were glad we got to see it last year, but i can make my own little Toontown at home.

I look forward to hearing from you with your thoughts

Thank you

Florida Mall Disney Store Reopens 8/24/11

Disney Store on 8/17/11. Pic by Chris! Thanks Chris.

At 10 AM, on August 24th, the doors will reopen on the newly renovated Disney Store in the Florida Mall in Orlando. The store has been closed for several months to refurbish the store and make it more “magical” (much like several of the new stores across the county.

Doors open at 10 and the first 250 people will receive a special gift.

Then on Saturday the 27th, there will be an opening ceremony at 10 AM. There will also be several Toy Story characters at the store from 12-4 PM to take pictures with.

This is exciting for us because it now means that we don’t have to drove to another twin just to pick up those upcoming Disney Stores exclusives (Lion King, Alice)!

Now, does this mean Orlando might get an exclusive location vinylmation like San Fran and NYC????? Pondering….

Win a Robot!

Update: 8/14/11 If you listened to our most recent podcast you’ll know that Sarah won the contest. Congrats Sarah and your robot is on it’s way! Thank you to everyone who entered, and also thanks to the Disney Store for providing the prize. Look for more contests soon!

The Disney Store exclusive Robots series has been out or a while now and we wanted to know which one was your favorite.

Just post a comment with which robot you like the most from the series. We’ll randomly pick a comment as a winner and that winner will receive a unopened blind box from the robot set cutesy of Destination Vinylmation and the Disney Store. The contest starts now and ends at noon on Saturday August 13th EST.

Only one entry per person! Good luck!

VM Rafiki Help Line: D23 Merchandise

Copyright Disney
Whenever we get a question we need your input on before giving an answer, we will post it here, in the VM Rafiki Help Line. Rafiki of course is very wise and the word Rafiki means friend. So we thought it an appropriate name when asking you to share knowledge with a fellow Vinylmation collector.

We found the following comment online from Alyss:

just to clarify, the RSP is only for Sorcerer or Premiere package holders? Do you know how many packages were offered? I’m really hoping that I don’t miss out on lots of the exclusive merchandise… I hope that not being able to afford the exclusive packages isn’t a game changer for enjoying the Expo this year

I’m not familiar enough with this process yet and how the D23 packages were structured. Can anyone help?

D23 Exclusive Pop! Vinyl

Last month, Comic Con got a few exclusive Pop! Vinyl. Today we learned D23 will have a couple of it’s own.

This is a 9″ “Metal” Steamboat Willie. This is LE 350 and will retail at the event for $44.50. I’m excited to try to add this to my collection. he looks great and I’m a big old school Mickey collector. This is similar to the 9″ Maleficent we saw at Comic Con. A 3″ version of Steamboat Willie will be in the upcoming Pop! Vinyl Series 2.
3″ Flocked Lotso will also be at D23. He is LE 500 and retails for $14.50. Collectors picked up a flocked Sully at Comic Con. Flocked means it will have a peach fuzz type texture to it. I’m not crazy about the look of Lotso here to be honest, but I do collect most things Toy Story and Lotso is a favorite. I think the flocked is enough to put this in my collection… then I don’t have to worry about not wanting the normal 3″ Lotso that will be in Pop! Vinyl Series 2.
