The Disney Dream is Just a Dream Away

While we don’t usually cover the Disney Cruise Line on WDW News Today, it was hard to ignore all of the huge announcements concerning the Disney Dream that took place on Thursday afternoon. Here is a video Disney released earlier today highlighting many of the new features for the Disney Dream:

Taking You All The Way Down The Bayou

ANAHEIM, Calif. (October 2009) – Starting Friday, Nov. 6, Disneyland guests will be treated to appearances by Princess Tiana, star of the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film “The Princess and the Frog.”

Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and other characters from the motion picture will star in “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!,” a rousing, colorful procession with a jazz-filled Mardi Gras theme. The good times will roll as festively dressed, bead-tossing revelers lead Disneyland guests to the Mark Twain Riverboat dock. The party moves onboard as the Mark Twain paddlewheels its way along the river to singing, dancing and all that jazz.

Songs composed by Randy Newman for the film energize the show, which will be performed four times daily in New Orleans Square. Daytime pyrotechnics, colorful streamers and whimsical puppetry round out the 15-minute spirited production.

The experience will dazzle guests at Disneyland through Jan. 3, 2010. “Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!” is also performing in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, through Jan. 3, 2010.

Guests also will be able to greet Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen at designated times at the Court of Angels in New Orleans Square, Disneyland.

A hilarious movie adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana, “The Princess and the Frog” will open in limited release in New York and Los Angeles on Nov. 25, 2009, before expanding nationwide on Dec. 11, 2009.

Beginning Nov. 6, little princesses can enjoy a new Princess Tiana makeover in Disneyland at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Fantasyland. Fairy Godmothers sprinkle their pixie dust on aspiring princesses with three makeover packages including a combination of hair, nails and makeup. The royal transformation becomes complete with a package that includes the Princess Tiana costume, shoes, crown and more. Children must be at least three years or older to receive the regal treatments.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily; theme park admission is required. Reservations may be made by calling 714/781-STYLE or 714/781-7895.

Remember… Dreams Do Come True!

Some truly exciting news, Disneyland’s fireworks spectacular Remember Dreams Come True will be returning to Disneyland for a brief three day performance from Friday, November 6th to Sunday, November 8th. Remember Dreams Come True has been scheduled here to fill the one weekend gap between Halloween Screams (which ends Sunday, November 1st) and Believe in Holiday Magic (which begins Friday, November 13th). Now even though the show will likely return after Believe in Holiday Magic’s annual run, you can bet the many fans of this show will descend upon the Resort that weekend, so be prepared for large crowds at showtime.

Stay tuned to Disneyland News Today for the latest on Disneyland’s amazing slate of fireworks shows.

“Fantasmic” Halloween Screams!

According to the OC Register’s Around Disney blog:

For the last week of the Disneyland Halloween fireworks, guests can see the spooky projections that go along with the show on mist screens in the Rivers of America.

Previously, visitors could only see projected images and animated characters, including host Jack Skellington, on a 20-foot orb on top of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Guests in other parts of the park, besides Main Street U.S.A., could not see the projections. The characters do the narration and songs that go along with the plot of the “Halloween Screams” show.

Now, guests can also see the full effects on the mist screens that are usually used for the Fantasmic! show in Frontierland, said John McClintock, a Disneyland Resort spokesman.

The fireworks show is scheduled in between showings of Fantasmic! over the weekend, meaning Fantasmic! viewers can stay in one spot to see both shows. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, fireworks will be shot off at 9:25 p.m., while Fantasmic! appears at 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the fireworks show goes on at 8 p.m. Fantasmic! is only on weekends. The park is closed to the public tonight for a private party and there will be no fireworks.

Disneyland workers first showed the Rivers of America projections to the public on Thursday and decided to keep it through this weekend, McClintock said.

Light effects can be seen outside of the it’s a small world ride, but not the animated projections.

The last night of “Halloween Screams” is Sunday, when Halloween Time ends. This is the first year of the special Halloween fireworks show, which is expected to return next year.

First Look at Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee

The upcoming Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee, which debuts at Disneyland on November 6th, debuted at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom today. As the show will be the same on both coasts, I thought I’d share some press photos from today’s inaugural performance of the show:

Princess Tiana took part in a special “coronation” this morning at the Magic Kingdom, in which a cast of characters welcomed her to the Disney family

WDW News Today reporter Brandon Struve was at the Magic Kingdom this morning, and he’s captured a video of Tiana’s “coronation”, as well as the full Showboat Jubilee for us to enjoy, embedded via the WDWNTube Disney Parks Video Site:

Stay tuned to Disneyland News Today the weekend of November 6th for complete coverage from the debut of our own version of Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee!

Brandon Struve’s 10/26/09 “Showboat Jubilee Debut” Report

Brandon Struve made a trip to the Magic Kingdom this morning to catch the “coronation” of Princess Tiana (Disney’s newest princess from the upcoming animated film “The Princess and The Frog”) and the official debut of Tiana’s Showboat Jubilee. The Showboat Jubilee will be performing 4 to 5 times daily from now until January 3, 2010. Here is a video of today’s events taken by Brandon, accompanied by some Disney press photos:

Pixie Hollow’s Newest Resident

“A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!” Confirmed

A recent Disney press release concerning Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party confirms that “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!” show is coming to the Magic Kingdom, at least on party nights:

Walt Disney World Resort unwraps a sleighful of entertainment offerings during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom on 19 select evenings beginning Nov. 10 – including a rockin’ new stage show to welcome the winter wonderland season.  “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!” features Stitch, Buzz Lightyear, Mike Wazowski and a jubilant cast of party-goers who discover the true meaning of the season during their annual Christmas party.  The interactive musical revue features “songs of the season” in the style of today’s hottest Radio Disney hits.
As previously reported, this show will use the new Tomorrowland stage formerly occupied by Stitch’s Supersonic Celebration.
What “songs of the season in the style of today’s hottest Radio Disney hits” actually means for the soundtrack of this new show is questionable. Does this mean that there will be holiday songs performed by Miley Cyrus and other Disney singers or will the music simply be “pop” versions of some classic holiday favorites?
It is also uncertain as to which, if any, characters will appear on stage and who will may appear on the screen above guests. There is a slight possibility of the living character technology being used in this show, but seeing as the description does not mention it, we are lead to believe that Mike Wazowski, Stitch, and Buzz Lightyear will be there in-person for each performance.
One final question we have is concerning performances of this show following the conclusion of the Christmas Parties. Since the now defunct “Mickey’s Twas the Night Before Christmas” show and all of the other entertainment from the party typically became a part of the Magic Kingdom’s regular entertainment schedule during the holiday weeks, will “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!” make the cut as well? Only time will tell.
Be sure to stay tuned to WDW News Today as we get more information on this upcoming Magic Kingdom holiday stage show.
