Park Starz Vinylmation Photoshoot

Every time a new set of 12 comes out, I like to take the figures to Walt Disney World and take a few pictures of them around the parks. When Park Starz came out, I was very excited to grab these guys and head out for another photoshoot. I had no idea how many picture opportunities would come up. My friend Austin helped me out and as usual, we looked crazy taking all these pictures, but it was fun. And I couldn’t narrow it down too easily, so I have a lot to share with you. Many of the best are below, but you find a larger photo album at our Facebook page. Enjoy! And let me know your favorites.

Haunted Tease

Will this ghostly fisherman be in next year’s Haunted Mansion Vinylmation set? See what we know about this series here.

This figure is designed after the Fisherman that resides in the newly refurbished queue line at the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom.

Water can be seen pouring from the tomb and the fisherman “sneezes” on guests as they walk by. Water sprouts out of the tomb misting unsuspecting guests.

Urban 8 Vinylmation Explained

We got our first real look at Urban 8 at The Florida Project. They showed off a couple 9″ as well as several 3″. We also found the Urban 8 pins that gave up 3 more designs.

This figure looks like and Indian warrior. He has a great looking head piece and wonderful markings and coloring on the body. The way the feet are painted, it appears he is standing in some brown brush. Will there be a spear accessory?

It appears to be a masked wrestler. He is blue with a squiggle of chest hair. He has a black tank top and tennis shoes. And possible flash bulbs in the ears.

This cool, cool cat has a simple black and white stripe shirt a beret and small artist-like eye glasses. He has some chin hair and a pencil mustache. The ears are painted a solid red.

This little fellow looks happy. Maybe he saw the hotdog. It’s a purple raccoon with a bushy tail… just like the Cheshire cat’s.

Update: 10/31/11 at 3:36am EST – At about 3:30am EST / Midnight Pacific, the Kidada 9/3 Ice Cream Sundae went up for sale at the Disney Store Online. Here is the link.

It is LE 1500 and retails for $74.95. And with the SHIPTODAY code, this qualifies for free shipping! It is not predicted to sell out too soon, so we will keep an eye on this online exclusive to see what happens. Did you pick one up?

The Kidada figure should go up for sale at DisneyStore.com Midnight Pacific on October 31.

The Kidada 9/3 combo featuring Peter Pan and Tinkerbell did not release online on Sunday 10/30 as expected. But both Kidada and the Disney Store tweeted out responses. At about 2pm EST @Kidada4Disney tweeted this: “yooooo! the release date got pushed vinyl seekers. 10/31 midnight. BIG APOLOGIES to those who stayed up late!!” A couple hours later @DisneyStore sent this tweet to us in response to our inquiry: “Great news! The new limited edition Vinylmation by Kidada Jones will be available online, tomorrow! Have A Magical Day!”

Jingle Smells, Jingle Smells, Vinylmation All The Way

Update: 10/31/11 Price: $11.95. Also, Jingle Smells were not out in many Disney Stores on the 10/30 release date. But good news, at many stores across the country Cast Members are stocking the shelves over night for a 10/31 release. Here is a pictures from a California Disney Store:

We do also know that many Disney Stores have already release Jingle Smells as early as a week ago according to Vinylnation.net. Also, here are some tweets from Sunday:

@OnlyLindsay – the Disney store by me didn’t have them out but I asked if they had them in back and was able to buy them!

@VMKingdom – There seems to be three different stories at Disney Store. Some sold last week, some today (Sunday), some tomorrow (Monday).


Update: 9/20/11 This Christmas Jingle Smells will hit stores. Its a line of four scented Vinylmation. They will be in Disney Stores on October 30 and at Disney Parks a few weeks later. The scents that will be available are Gingerbread, Marshmallow, Chocolate and Peppermint.

I know it’s summer, but bear with me for a second. Imagine it’s December. Snow falling on your windowsill. The sounds of your favorite Christmas tunes playing. The tree is up, decorated with your favorite Disney ornaments. Oh, and the scents of the holiday season all around. Sound good? Now imagine those scents coming from your Vinylmation.

What would Jack think if he stumbled upon these odd creations from our friends at Disney? Reports by Stitch’s Kingdom say this is a set of four, open window 3″ Vinylmation that are scented. The scents that will be available are Gingerbread, Marshmallow, Chocolate and Peppermint. No pictures available yet, but the figures will have Ornament hooks on top. Not sure if they are real or molded. It has also not yet been determined if these will be a Disney Store exclusive, or available at the resorts as well.

While everyone seems to be complaining that Downtown Disney no longer offers a district-to-district candy walk, the best kept secret seems to be Halloween festivities at Disney’s resort hotels. While this is not a complete list, we have uncovered the Halloween festivities for 13 of the Disney Resort Hotels at Walt Disney World. Halloween Golf Cart Parade – Let your imagination go wild as you turn your golf cart into a Halloween masterpiece! Awesome prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Best overall, Best Disney Themed, Most Unique, & Most Creative. Carts must meet all requirements regarding Disney’s Fort Wilderness golf cart policies. Drivers must be 16+ with a driver’s license. All passengers must be seated on a seat. Nothing may be pulled behind the golf carts, and flatbed carts are not allowed. Registration is required by 12:00pm at the Bike Barn or the Golf Cart Valet Podium.

The Variants & Chaser of Urban 8 Leaked

The website Action Figure Times has secured 14 figures from the yet to be released Urban 8 Vinylmation set. A set of 11, plus 2 variants and what appears to be the chaser. No word about where or how these figures were acquired by Action Figure Times. Urban 8 isn’t slated to be released until sometime in November. Click the image below to see the chaser. I have to say with this and the Villains 2 chaser, designers are back in business after some flops for that special piece in recent sets.

Japan Exclusive Mushu

Update: 10/29/11 We have more info about this figure. First, it appears it will be released on November 18 in Japan along with the Disney Character Zodiac signs. We also have a price. 990 Yen, or about $13.07 USD. It is also an LE figure, but we don’t have an edition size.
9/28/11 A Mushu Vinylmation has shown up on eBay. It appears to be an unreleased figure. It also appears to be another “dumpster dive” figure. Meaning it was tossed out by the factory, but picked up and put for sale online.
It’s a great looking variation to the Animation 1 Mushu. No details yet where or when it will be released or as part of what set, if any. We can speculate that it has something to do with 2012 being The Year of the Dragon. I can say that it’s a brilliant design and I can’t wait to find out how to add one to my collection. I will toss out the same general warning we always give against bidding on figures on eBay before it’s release.
